Techland Announces ‘Dying Light’

Posted on May 23, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Techland has their hands occupied it seems. With this weeks release of Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger on XBLA, PSN, & PC and the newly announced Hellraid, who would’ve thought that they had another game in the works?

Today Techland, developer of the amazing Dead Island franchise, has announced yet another game: Dying Light. Techland has teamed up with Warner Bros. (who is apparently publishing the game) to bring this new IP to PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014. So what is this new IP, Dying Light, all about?Read More

Electronic Arts Kisses Online Passes Goodbye

Posted on May 15, 2013 by Joshua Rust

This could quite possibly be some of the best news I’ve heard in quite a while in regards to Electronic Arts (EA). It’s been known for quite a while that EA’s upcoming game Fuse will not require an Online Pass to play the multiplayer component of the game, but who knew that EA was actually listening to its fan base (for lack of a better word) when we say that Online Passes suck!

According to a recent interview with GamesBeat,  EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg, told them that, “Yes we’re discontinuing Online Pass. None of our new titles will include that feature.”

I think the question remains is how EA will get around this. It’s not a matter of “if”…just “how” and “when”. This could have something to do with the possible success of micro-transactions through games like Mass Effect 3 and Dead Space 3. But, either way it’s good to see that they are doing away with these Online Passes that were “supposed to extend the server life” of games because the them being bought used. Which we all know that didn’t happen as most of the game servers are still taken down pretty much two years after the games have been released – mostly sports titles though.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on EA getting rid of the Online Passes? Perhaps EA is trying to get back on the right track with consumers…?

Posted on May 15, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Dark is in development over at Realmforge Studios, which is located in Munich, Germany and is being published by Kalypso Media (who just happens to own Realmforge Studios as well).

Dark puts you in the shoes of Eric Bane, a newly turned vampire who has no recollection of how he came to be a vampire. He sets off with his new found vampire powers in pursuit of his lost memories and to find out just what the heck is going on. There are various ways to go about playing Dark and obviously being a vampire, stealth is one of those choices…Read More

First Defiance DLC Detailed

Posted on May 14, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Trion Worlds, creator of Defiance, have announced the first details on DLC for their epic MMO Sci-fi shooter. For the Season Pass holders, you should know the deal by now, you will get 5 DLCs at a reduced price. But the question always remains: Is that content going to be good enough to warrant my purchase of the Season Pass?

Well, I know this is just the first DLC but it looks like Trion Worlds will be doing everyone justice. Not only for the Season Pass holders, but there will also be free DLC so that it won’t isolate friends from playing with each other regardless of what content each other have. Which is a good thing seeing how Defiance has now surpassed over 1 million registered users and I’m quite sure that many of them are waiting it out to see what kind of DLC we will get from the Season Pass.Read More

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Details & Trailer

Posted on May 13, 2013 by Joshua Rust

In development at 2K Marin is the newest installment in the XCOM legacy of games titled The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. With the success that the first game on this generation of consoles it was only a matter of time before another one would be on the way. This game is not a direct sequel, in fact it’s not even played from the same perspective. At it’s core, The Bureau is still an XCOM game, but a few changes have been added to make use of the first person perspective that the game is played in.Read More

First Gameplay Of Hellraid Emerges

Posted on May 8, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Announced just a little over a week ago was Hellraid, coming from developer of the popular Dead Island franchise, Techland. Hellraid is essentially Dead Island meets Skyrim with four player co-op – which sounds like a win-win to me.  Here is how the game is described on the official website in terms of playable classes:

Play in cooperation in a team of four heroes with different skills and weapon capabilities. Slaughter enemies with swords and axes as a Warrior. Heal and protect your friends with the Paladin’s defensive magic. Burn, freeze and electrocute demons with the Mage’s staff and kill with precision of the Rogue’s crossbow.

Today Techland released a brief gameplay trailer showing off a glimpse of what the combat in Hellraid will be like. Which, the entire combat system was taken from the Dead Island game and implemented into this game. For the trailer keep reading after the jump.Read More

Wolfenstein: The New Order Announced By Bethesda

Posted on May 7, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Bethesda Softworks released a surprise announcement today, that is they are publishing a new Wolfenstein game. Titled Wolfenstein: The New Order, it is in development at Swedish developer MachineGames (which was founded back in 2009 by founders of Starbreeze Studios).

This new installment of Wolfenstein is set in an alternate universe where the Nazi’s won World War II and this game is thought as the “reimagining” of the franchise. So a new studio takes over a great franchise and hopefully they will make something spectacular of it – unlike the most recent attempt which received a 72/100 average over at Metacritic.

With the announcement of the Wolfenstein: The New Order is of course a new trailer, which you can see after the jump!

Disney and EA Announce Multi-Year Star Wars Games Partnership

Posted on May 6, 2013 by Joshua Rust

The House Of Mouse and publishing giant Electronic Arts have agreed to multi-game and multiyear agreement that will put the Star Wars brand in the hands of studios like Visceral, DICE, & Bioware. Of course Bioware is no stranger as they have put out one of the best Star Wars games ever created, in my opinion, Star Wars: The Knights Of The Old Republic. No, I’m not talking about that MMO one either. Unfortunately, I don’t think this means that the impressive and promising Star Wars 1313 game will be resurrected – but one can hope.

Electronic Arts will be handling the ‘core’ Star Wars games, while Disney will focus on the casual games – ranging from phones, tablets, consoles, & PC. Here’s hoping that we will get some quality titles out of this deal. For the official press release, keep reading after the jump.Read More

Road Rash Redemption Kickstarter Adds XBLA Version

Posted on May 6, 2013 by Joshua Rust

That is, if the goal is reached. Road Rash, how I miss you. How I miss taking down P.E. No.1. The chains, the mace, and overall hectic motorcycle racing carnage. The first time I played Road Rash was back on Sega Genesis and I instantly fell in love with it. I’ve long wished for a reboot or a re-release over XBLA and/or PSN and it looks like that it’s a possibility – with your help, that is.

DarkSeas Games, based out of New Orleans, is looking to seek support (and I mean the financial kind) to help raise even more money for their stretch goal in their Kickstarter project titled: Road Rash Redemption. You can find the link the Kickstarter game here. The XBLA version would require $178,000 to become reality and as of now they are sitting at almost $110,000. So, that’s about $70,000 they need to raise over 5 days to get a XBLA version up and going. So please spread the word!

A fan trailer for Road Rash Redemption was created by one of the backers if you’re having trouble remembering what Road Rash is all about…Read More

Pacific Rim Game Coming To XBLA?

Posted on May 6, 2013 by Joshua Rust

It appears to be all but confirmed as the Australian classifications board has listed the video game tie-in to Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming blockbuster film. It looks like Warner Brothers Interactive will be publishing the game and Yukes will be developing it. Yukes is the team behind WWE ’13 and Real Steel so they do have experience with fighting games – as this appears what the Pacific Rim game will focus around. Some screenshots have been leaked as well, which you can see after the jump.Read More

New GTA V Details Confirmed

Posted on May 2, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Grand Theft Auto V isn’t due out until September, you can bet that new information will keep flowing in on a regular basis to keep you somewhat satisfied – though we all know it’s never going to be enough until the game is in our hand. But, nothing we can do about that so what we can do is bring you some of the new details.

Just yesterday Rockstar released three new trailer (which are combined together in our news story, you can find here) showing off a little backstory to each of the three playable characters. It appears that this new iteration of GTA will incorporate several RPG elements by looking at the list after the jump. Each of the three characters will have skills and all three of the protagonists will be better in some skills than the other two as well. I think my favorite thing about the new details is that the underwater areas are now a living breathing ecosystem that you can explore and even find treasure in….Read More

Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep Revealed As Borderlands 2 Fourth Campaign DLC

Posted on May 2, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Anthony Burch, writer for Gearbox, posted a picture that teased what is to come for the next piece of campaign DLC via twitter (which has since been removed). Regardless of the removed picture, the fourth piece of Borderlands 2 DLC (that is part of the Season Pass) has been revealed to day and is confirmed as “Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep.” Owners of the Season Pass will get this as part of their “four campaign add-ons” when they purchased the Season Pass, others will have to fork out 800 MSP ($10).Read More

What Does A Rich Guy, Gangster, & A Redneck Have In Common…?

Posted on April 30, 2013 by Joshua Rust

They are all of the main protagonist’s you will play in the next installment of Grand Theft Auto, of course! I’m willing to bet that many of you are eagerly awaiting the release of Grand Theft Auto V, and I have to say that I’m including in the general consensus of that as well. Every time Rockstar announces another GTA game, I think about what could really do to make the next installment even better? Turns out Rockstar always has an answer to that question.

This time Rockstar will place you in the lives of not one, not two, but three main protagonists. There have been multi-character stories before in games, but never in a GTA game. It should be very interesting to see how all three of these guys eventually weave together in the web that Rockstar is spinning. Just hopefully it will be well balanced and not jump around all over the place.

Today, Rockstar released a trailer that give a little bit of background on each of the protagonists and it looks like Grand Theft Auto V will continue the trend of amazing games in the GTA franchise. To see the trailer, keep reading after the break.Read More

Hellraid Is Dead Island Developer’s New Game, Coming This Year

Posted on April 30, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Dead Island developer Techland has announced it will be launching a new IP later this year titled: Hellraid.  From what I can gather it’s a mix of Dead Island’s combat style mixed up with some might and magic set in a dark universe. With Dead Island: Riptide just being released, it came as a bit of a surprise that Techland would announce another game so soon…but seeing how it’s slated to release on Xbox 360, PS3, & PC this year it shouldn’t be a surprise because it’s obviously been in development for some time.Read More
