February’s Games with Gold Titles Announced

Posted on February 1, 2014 by Joshua Rust

With the end of each month, comes the newest announcement of the next two games that Microsoft will make free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Last month, gamers had the chance to pick up Sleeping Dogs for the first half of January and for the second half the Xbox Live arcade title Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. It seems that Microsoft is starting to turn the tide and are starting to release pretty decent titles for their “Games with Gold” program. February is no exception, but what two games will Xbox Live members get for free this month? Continue reading to find out…Read More

Gears of War is unanimously one of the flagship titles for any of Microsoft’s consoles. To date, the franchise combined has sold over twenty-two million copies – grossing in just over $1 Billion dollars. With this acquisition, Microsoft hopes to continue giving the fans even more Gears of War games and merchandise. Currently, there are four Gears of War titles but it’s likely we can expect to see more news on this soon – perhaps E3? We can only hope…Read More

Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Gameplay Trailer

Posted on January 23, 2014 by Joshua Rust

Earlier last week, PopCap Games and Electronic Arts unfortunately pushed Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare back. Fortunately, it was only for one extra week. While this game doesn’t follow the formula for the first title in this franchise, it looks to be equally intriguing. Some of the key features include 24-player multiplayer mayhem, customization options for both zombies and the plants, and four-player online co-op. The Xbox One version will feature offline split-screen co-op and SmartGlass & Kinect functionality as well.

To help ease the wound of Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare’s slight delay, PopCap & EA have released a new trailer to smooth it overRead More

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer Swings In

Posted on January 23, 2014 by Joshua Rust

The Amazing Spider-Man is set to make his return to video game consoles via developer Beenox and publisher Activision this year. Historically, I personally believe that Beenox has done an outstanding job with the Spider-Man games. They are looking to continue this trend with a new Spidey game, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which will release sometime in the spring of this year. While the storyline will not follow the movies’, which is truly not a bad thing, it will feature some of the enemies featured in the film. Don’t worry true believers, there will also be more classic villains for you to take down as well – Beenox has confirmed.

This new trailer features one of those classic villains…Read More

January 2014’s First Games With Gold Title

Posted on January 4, 2014 by Joshua Rust

While many gamers have started to question the integrity of Microsoft’s Games with Gold program due to offering games that are years old, such as last month’s Gears of War, it seems they are listening to the community and are starting to offer up newer games. The most recent game that was released through Microsoft’s Games with Gold was Shoot Many Robots, which is a fun cooperative arcade title. This month’s release, however, sees you as an undercover cop that is trying to take down one of Hong Kong’s most dangerous groups: The Triads.

Telltale Games and Gearbox Software have superhero teamed up to bring you what could be a very interesting twist on the Borderlands franchise. Tales from the Borderlands was announced last night at SpikeTV’s VGX Award show and will be released in 2014. For those unfamiliar, but really how could you be, Telltale Games is responsible for the incredible The Walking Dead game (and no, not that other one you’re probably thinking of). Telltale Games will be developing the game, while Gearbox Software will be providing support to keep the continuity in check, among other things.

Posted on December 2, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Microsoft’s Games with Gold campaign keeps chugging along like the little engine that could. This month is no exception as one of the big hitting exclusive games, Gears Of War – released Nov. 7th, 2006, will be free from December 1st through December 15th. When Gears Of War was first announced, it dropped the jaw of many gamers. It spent its fair share of time in the Top 10 leaderboards of Xbox Live gaming activity and rightly so. While many gamers have played Gears Of War, it’s still one of the best exclusive games for the Xbox 360 and is a game that you need to play if you have not yet – after all it is FREE!!!

Xbox One Ships 1 Million In Under 24 Hours

Posted on November 25, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Although there have been reports of the Xbox One having issues, that’s not stopped it from selling over 1 million consoles in less that 24 hours. Following similar success from the Playstation 4 it looks as if both consoles are off to a great start. In the UK, the Xbox One sold over 150,000 consoles which is double the figure of the Xbox 360’s launch numbers – and puts it just a few thousand units away from topping the Wii U’s lifetime sales in the UK (which launched December 2012).

Other interesting stats over the first 24 hours…

  • Over 60 million zombies have been killed in Dead Rising 3
  • Over 3.6 million miles were driven in Forza Motorsport 5
  • Over 7.1 million combos were pulled off in Killer Instinct
  • Over 8.5 million enemies have been defeated in Ryse: Son of Rome
  • Over 43.3 million Fit Points were earned in Xbox Fitness

While both consoles have had isolated hardware issues, it’s great to see both platforms start off solid.  Reviews and impressions of the Xbox One and games are on the way, so stay tuned!

LEGO The Hobbit Officially Announced

Posted on November 25, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Traveller’s Tales, creator of the fantastic LEGO games, has announced today a new LEGO game based off a popular book series that you may have heard of…LEGO The Hobbit. While some may see these as kids games, I’ll have to give TT credit because the last few games (LEGO Batman 2, LEGO Marvel, LEGO Lord of the Rings), have been exceptionally fun – yes, even for a “kids game”.
