Killer Frost And Ares Officially Revealed For Injustice

Posted on April 10, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

NetherRealm studios has officially revealed Killer Frost and Ares for Injustice: Gods Among Us. While it’s been common knowledge at this point that the two characters were in the game, a trailer now showcases both characters in action. Killer Frost seems to play a bit of a homage to Mortal Kombat veterans Sub-Zero and Frost with an array of ice based attacks such as a slide known to both ninjas and ice shard projectiles. Her hero ability when activated, has each alternate strike she performs to freeze the opponent in place, opening many combo opportunities. Ares on the other hand, seems to have multiple tools such as teleportation, invisibility as well as a giant ax and sword which has multiple uses such as for projectiles, combo extensions and in one situation you can see him drop the ax to then drop Killer Frost on top. Both character’s cinematics are pretty violent for a T rated game but this is beeing made by the fathers of Mortal Kombat. Both characters are showcased on the trailer below. Injustice: Gods Among us will be released in six days! (April 16th) on all 3 major platforms.Read More

Metro: Last Light Gives Insight On How To Survive

Posted on April 9, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Deep Silver, publishing giant known for the fantastic Dead Island game, has just release a new video to promote their newly acquired IP Metro. This video gives players an idea about survival in Metro: The Last Light and is the first video in three part series. The Metro IP was formerly owned by THQ, but due to it going bankrupt Deep Silver jumped in a bid for the franchise rights. The first game sort of flew under the radar due to poor advertising, but it was a fantastic game.

It looks like Deep Silver is fully behind it’s new IP and rightly so, hopefully this game will be as warmly received as the first one was (or even more so). I highly suggest seeking out Metro 2033 if you haven’t played it because it’s a great experience and it gets you caught up before the sequel releases.Read More

Batman Returns In Arkham Origins This Fall

Posted on April 9, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Warner Bros latest title in the Arkham series was announced yesterday, Batman: Arkham Origins allows players to explore the roots of the caped crusader. The game is not being created by series developers Rocksteady Games, instead development will be handled in house at Warner Bros Montreal.

Origins will make use of the customized Unreal 3 Engine that powered the previous games, as well as some of the previous title’s assets. Developers working on the game promised IGN that while some assets are being re purposed the game will deliver new content without breaking the established atmosphere of the Arkham series.

The game’s plot involves a younger Bruce Wayne facing up against Gotham City’s vilest villains long, many of them for the first time. From a recently revealed Game Informer cover, we know that mercenary for hire – Deathstroke – will be one of the central villains  in Arkham: Origins. Read More

BlizzPlanet’s Tides of War Interview With Christie Golden

Posted on April 9, 2013 by Les Major

April 30th will see the paperback release of Christie Golden’s World of Warcraft: Tides of War novel so to celebrate I wanted to share this interview I came across on YouTube tonight. I’ve been reading and enjoying the hardcover release myself and will have a review coming down the road. Being a fan of Christie Golden’s writing for quite a number of years now it’s refreshing to hear an interview like this. If nothing else give the first eight minutes a listen before it gets into the in depth spoiler content. On a related side note, Starcraft II: Flashpoint also by Christie Golden will be released in paperback this May. Read on for the interview.Read More

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers Coming To 3DS

Posted on April 9, 2013 by Les Major

In just a week Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers will be released on the 3DS. Don’t let it’s history put you off but Soul Hackers was originally released for the Sega Saturn way back in 1997 and then later slightly revamped in 1999 for the Playstation. It is a sequel to Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner but Soul Hackers may be being released first for the 3DS due to it’s lower difficulty compared to previous titles in the series.

The game itself is unreleased in North America, so Soul Hackers is new to our shores. From the trailer following the break, it looks like Etrian Odyssey fans should feel at home in the games interface. However Soul Hackers for the 3DS uses an automap feature instead of encouraging gamers to fill one out of their own as the Etrian Odyssey series does.Read More

Tried The Injustice: Gods Among Us Demo Yet?

Posted on April 9, 2013 by Les Major

Last week a demo was released for PS3 and Xbox Gold Members for NetherRealm’s latest fighter, Injustice. Allowing gamers to not only give the fighting system a whirl to see how it differs from Mortal Kombat, but also to play as either Wonder Woman, Batman, or Lex Luthor, in a four tier fight leading to Doomsday. The demo itself only focuses on the Gotham rooftop arena which leads down into the streets too if you power slam your opponent off the far right of the building.

This is a wonderful taste, but don’t forget about the cinematic storyline and S.T.A.R. Labs challenge mode that will be coming in the full game. All this in just one week from today! So brush up on your skills using the background of Injustice to your tactical advantage and get ready for a DC Comics adventure unlike anything you’ve seen before. Injustice will be released April 16th.

Dead Space 3’s Awakened DLC Is A Great Addition

Posted on April 9, 2013 by Les Major

It took approximately three and a half to four hours for Ghostwalker and I to clear the new Dead Space 3 DLC and we enjoyed the journey! That’s on par with the main campaign considering we got about an hours worth of entertainment out of DS3 for every $3 and change we’d spent on the retail copy. Three and a half hours for $10 is a fair deal in comparison. Want more details? There’s spoilers to come, so be wary!Read More

Neverwinter Looking Like A Great Adventure

Posted on April 9, 2013 by Les Major

The new free to play Neverwinter MMO let beta testers give the game a whirl a few weekends back and I was lucky enough to get to be a part of the action. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried their Star Trek MMO, but after enjoying my time in the Forgotten Realms I do plan to see what the game based on Paramount’s franchise is like as well.Read More

A Hopeful Look Toward The Future Of Doom 4

Posted on April 8, 2013 by Les Major

After a recent article on Kotaku that makes for good reading, I wanted to throw in my two cents about the mentioned concepts of Doom 4.

As many of you by now know, Doom 3 was moreso a retelling of the story of Doom 4. Kotaku’s article mentions that Doom 4 was originally going to be a retelling of Doom 2. Right away that sounds like fantastic news, but it went further than that. As in the second Doom game, this concept would have taken place on Earth. That and it seems the struggle of humans in this new world would have been explored, rather than in the original Doom 2 where you didn’t meet anyone who wasn’t a zombie soldier.Read More

Raven’s Cry Hitting Stores In October For PC/Xbox 360

Posted on April 8, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Let’s face it the Pirates of the Caribbean game did not satisfy anyone’s appetite for swashbuckling, plundering booty (yeah…not that booty), and blowing up ships while sailing the Seven Seas. Raven’s Cry tells the story of Christopher Raven who is out for vengeance against the people who murdered his family. Developed by Octane Games and published by TopWare Interactive, Raven’s Cry is looking to hit retail stores October 24th, 2013. It’s about time we finally get a decent looking pirate game…well, with the exception of another good looking pirate game. Read More

Evoland | Review

Posted on April 7, 2013 by Jason Nason

Evoland is the culmination of a labour of love, and is a combined turn-based/action RPG which spans the gaming generations from the 8-bit (NES) to the 64 bit (N64). Not only does the game evolve from the classic look of games to that of modern day games, but it does so in a clever way, which makes Evoland more than just a gimmick. Read More

Newest Pokemon From X & Y Looks An Awful Lot Like Mewtwo

Posted on April 7, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Over the weekend Nintendo unveiled a brand new pokemon for the upcoming Pokemon X & Y, during their weekly “Pokemon Smash” T.V series. This little fella looks an awfully lot like fan favorite Mewtwo, whom of course was one of the last legendary from the original set of 151 Pokemon Unfortunately this newly unveiled monster doesn’t have a name just yet, in fact official details out side of the recently released art work and trailers are scant.

This is pure speculation but I believe Nintendo could take one or two routes with this: I believe that regardless of origin, this monster will be a legendary. In terms of its origin I think that it will be either a new form of MewTwo, similar to the way that Deoxys and Shaman can take multiple forms depending on circumstance, so it would have the same type and ID number as its base form, or it will be a new clone of the original Mew in the vein of MewTwo – meaning that is is a human creation.

Check out the full artwork and brief gameplay trailer released by Nintendo after the jump.Read More

New Remember Me ‘Enemies’ Trailer

Posted on April 7, 2013 by Jason Nason

Capcom has released another trailer for their upcoming game Remember Me. The game is a new original property where players take on the role of Nilin, a former elite memory hunter with the ability to break into people’s minds and steal or even alter their memories.

The game looks pretty intense from what I’ve seen of it and should be a great ride once it’s released. Remember Me is a 3rd person action adventure and the look and feel of the game reminds me of an old PS2 Rockstar title OniRead More
