Microsoft has revealed the next generation Xbox, now known as Xbox One, clearly Redmond means business because they are coming out with the bat swinging. Not only did we see the console, controller and dashboard within the first six minutes of the presentation but the console maker also featured the ability to watch television instantly.

Xbox One’s theme appears to be “instant”, giving the user the ability to switch between the dashboard, live television, movies and internet search with just a few words. The console’s user interface is rather familiar, looking strikingly similar to the Metro style featured in the Windows 8 and Xbox 360 experiences. According the PR spin they want to make sure that the Xbox is the hub for everything we do.. Hasn’t this always been the target of the Xbox brand?

Check out the first screenshots of the hardware, user interface and controller after the jump. We’ll bring you more as it develops. (more…)

This could quite possibly be some of the best news I’ve heard in quite a while in regards to Electronic Arts (EA). It’s been known for quite a while that EA’s upcoming game Fuse will not require an Online Pass to play the multiplayer component of the game, but who knew that EA was actually listening to its fan base (for lack of a better word) when we say that Online Passes suck!

According to a recent interview with GamesBeat,  EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg, told them that, “Yes we’re discontinuing Online Pass. None of our new titles will include that feature.”

I think the question remains is how EA will get around this. It’s not a matter of “if”…just “how” and “when”. This could have something to do with the possible success of micro-transactions through games like Mass Effect 3 and Dead Space 3. But, either way it’s good to see that they are doing away with these Online Passes that were “supposed to extend the server life” of games because the them being bought used. Which we all know that didn’t happen as most of the game servers are still taken down pretty much two years after the games have been released – mostly sports titles though.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on EA getting rid of the Online Passes? Perhaps EA is trying to get back on the right track with consumers…?

Dark is in development over at Realmforge Studios, which is located in Munich, Germany and is being published by Kalypso Media (who just happens to own Realmforge Studios as well).

Dark puts you in the shoes of Eric Bane, a newly turned vampire who has no recollection of how he came to be a vampire. He sets off with his new found vampire powers in pursuit of his lost memories and to find out just what the heck is going on. There are various ways to go about playing Dark and obviously being a vampire, stealth is one of those choices… (more…)

Trion Worlds, creator of Defiance, have announced the first details on DLC for their epic MMO Sci-fi shooter. For the Season Pass holders, you should know the deal by now, you will get 5 DLCs at a reduced price. But the question always remains: Is that content going to be good enough to warrant my purchase of the Season Pass?

Well, I know this is just the first DLC but it looks like Trion Worlds will be doing everyone justice. Not only for the Season Pass holders, but there will also be free DLC so that it won’t isolate friends from playing with each other regardless of what content each other have. Which is a good thing seeing how Defiance has now surpassed over 1 million registered users and I’m quite sure that many of them are waiting it out to see what kind of DLC we will get from the Season Pass. In development at 2K Marin is the newest installment in the XCOM legacy of games titled The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. With the success that the first game on this generation of consoles it was only a matter of time before another one would be on the way. This game is not a direct sequel, in fact it’s not even played from the same perspective. At it’s core, The Bureau is still an XCOM game, but a few changes have been added to make use of the first person perspective that the game is played in. (more…)

The UK branch of the International Business Times has reported that it seems the next Xbox may be called Xbox Infinity. The above logo however hasn’t been confirmed, and has even been called into question by a user on VG Leaks. Developer sources have apparently confirmed that the big reveal coming on May 21st will be named the Xbox Infinity. Is this true?

Keep in mind, none of this is confirmed for certain but this is a new possible name for Microsoft’s new console. Personally I liked Xbox 720 which was one possible name for the system which has earlier been code named Durango. Rumors also speculated this next version would just be called ‘Xbox’ dropping any numbers.

I guess we’ll have to wait till May 21st to see if this is the actual name. Whatever it’s called, we’re eager to see what the Next Gen Xbox details will be!

Revealed by an accidental Xbox Live listing as shown here Nether Realm has since revealed that Batgirl will indeed be a DLC character. The Mortal Kombat developer stated “Looks like the bat’s out of the bag. Batgirl is a playable DLC character in Injustice. Catch her gameplay next week!”

This brings us up to two of four DLC characters we know of with Lobo being the first announced who will be released on May 7th. He was announced when the game was released presumably (spoilers) due to his inclusion in one of the characters ending sequences in battle mode. (more…)

It’s no surprise with this quirky series that takes itself less and less seriously with each sequel, but yes, this time you are the president (seemingly still in your Saints Row custom character lead) fighting an alien race known as the Zin. The game isn’t that far off either, set to be released on August 20th for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC!

Check out the newly released, “Meet The President,” trailer after the break. This will be the first Saints Row release after Deep Silver picked up the series as it’s new publisher in the unfortunate auctioning off of THQ’s franchises. Volition is still at the helm however, so fans who love the series progression have no reason to fear. (more…)

Announced just a little over a week ago was Hellraid, coming from developer of the popular Dead Island franchise, Techland. Hellraid is essentially Dead Island meets Skyrim with four player co-op – which sounds like a win-win to me.  Here is how the game is described on the official website in terms of playable classes:

Play in cooperation in a team of four heroes with different skills and weapon capabilities. Slaughter enemies with swords and axes as a Warrior. Heal and protect your friends with the Paladin’s defensive magic. Burn, freeze and electrocute demons with the Mage’s staff and kill with precision of the Rogue’s crossbow.

Today Techland released a brief gameplay trailer showing off a glimpse of what the combat in Hellraid will be like. Which, the entire combat system was taken from the Dead Island game and implemented into this game. For the trailer keep reading after the jump. (more…)

Bethesda Softworks released a surprise announcement today, that is they are publishing a new Wolfenstein game. Titled Wolfenstein: The New Order, it is in development at Swedish developer MachineGames (which was founded back in 2009 by founders of Starbreeze Studios).

This new installment of Wolfenstein is set in an alternate universe where the Nazi’s won World War II and this game is thought as the “reimagining” of the franchise. So a new studio takes over a great franchise and hopefully they will make something spectacular of it - unlike the most recent attempt which received a 72/100 average over at Metacritic.

With the announcement of the Wolfenstein: The New Order is of course a new trailer, which you can see after the jump!
