NIS America Scans PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness For 2016 North American Release

Posted on February 27, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness

Prepare to have your mind scanned and your every move recorded in the recently announced visual novel PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness published by NIS America.  Based upon the popular anime series, PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness will be released in Europe and North America later this year on several platforms – PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Windows PC.

PSYCHo-PASS is set 100 years in the future where the omnipresent Sybil system monitors the mental health, stress and psychological condition of every resident of Japan. Every person is under constant surveillance 24/7. Individuals who commit violent crimes or have the potential to do so are brought to justice by the Bureau of Public Safety. Should a resident’s crime coefficient (a numerical value rating their behaviour) or hue (a visual represent of one’s mental health) reach certain values the Bureau is called into to enforce Sybil’s will, which often results in bloodshed.

Players will choose one of two new detectives who have joined the Bureau of Public Safety. Here is how NIS America describes the story:

“You must decide the best course of action for each given situation, but regardless of the hierarchy that separates Inspector from Enforcer, players must be mindful that every decision has its own repercussions. With an intricate decision-making system, PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness offers a twisted plot and compelling cases, providing a number of different endings.”

PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness was originally released in Japan exclusively on the Xbox One in May 2015. The North American and European versions are PlayStation / PC exclusive.

Posted on February 26, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Spanish developer Byte 4 Games appears to be working a new title for the as of yet unrevealed next console from Nintendo, codenamed “NX”.

According to the project’s Game Designer / Director’s LinkedIn profile the studios’ unannounced NX projects may be titled “Mech Super eXtended” and could also be heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

NX_unannounced

A cursory google search for the game’s title reveals no information on the title and Byte 4 Games’ official website and social media presence is currently focused on their multiplatform arcade shooter Demon’s Crystal which was revealed last July. It is also worth mentioning that the developer’s twitter account also appears to be inactive, waiting for someone to interact with their fans.

We’ve reached out to Byte 4 Games for comment and will update this story should we hear back. Do you think we will see more potential NX titles leak with GDC just around the corner?

Report: Rise of the Tomb Raider PC Sales Beat Xbox One Threefold

Posted on February 25, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Superdata -a research group that tracks and analyzes digital sales numbers across almost all platforms – have announced that sales of Square Enix’s Rise of the Tomb Raider on Windows PC were almost triple those of the Xbox One version during it’s first month on both platforms.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was an Xbox One exclusive when it launched this past November. The Windows PC version launched last month on the Windows Store and Steam. Rise of the Tomb Raider is the direct sequel to 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot.

Here’s the original quote from Superdata:

“The newly-released PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider surprises at release. As one of Square Enix’s most visible franchises, the Tomb Raider franchise performed in January, receiving both strong industry recognition and benefitting from a seasonal lull of triple A games. Initial sales numbers on digital console for Rise of the Tomb Raider were soft, due to sharing its release date with Fallout 4 and its exclusivity to Xbox One. The game sold almost three times as many units on PC than it did on console during its first month.”

Humble Pathfinder Bundle Provides Endless Fantasy For As Little As $1

Posted on February 24, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Humble Pathfinder Bundle

Are you an experienced adventurer with years of quests under your belt? Perhaps you are a newbie who just only learned how to hold a sword? Regardless of your level of skill I’m sure we’ve all got lost in a fantasy at least once in our lives and now with the Pathfinder Humble Bundle finding your next adventure could cost as little as $1!

That might seem like a bit of a sales pitch but honestly the Pathfinder series is probably one of my favorite tabletop systems. The authors took the core of Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 and thanks to the D20 Open license have made a number of improvements while expanding on the settings, creatures and rulesets that made the early 2000s D&D 3.5 roleplaying system so popular.

Here is how the tiers break down, even the $1 tier gives you more than enough material to start and adventure with your friends. All copies are digital with the exclusive of the highest tier.

$1 Tier

  • Pathfinder Core Rulebook
  • GameMastery Guide
  • Pathfinder Digital Beginners Box
  • Player Folio
  • Advanced Classes Guide
  • GM Screen
  • Pre-made adventure “Hell’s Bright Shadow”

BTA (Beat The Average) Tier

  • Inner Sea World Guide
  • Strategy Guide
  • Bestiary
  • Ultimate Equipment
  • Pathfinder Scenario: “Between The Lines”
  • Pre-made adventure “Hell’s Bright Shadow Pt.2”
  • Advanced Player’s Guide

$15 Tier

  • Ultimate Magic
  • Ultimate Campaign
  • Ultimate Combat
  • Bestiary 2
  • Pre-made adventure: “Hell’s Bright Shadow Pt. 3”
  • Inner Sea Map
  • Year of the Sky Key (23 pre-made adventures)

Fans of EA/DICE’s multiplayer centric shooter set in A Galaxy Far Far Away will be happy to learn that the pair has revealed the official patch notes for the upcoming February content drop.  As previously announced a brand new map will become available when this patch drops – Twilight on Hoth  which supports a whole bunch of modes including – Walker Assault, Supremacy, Turning Point, Blaster, Fighter Squadron, Drop Zone and Heroes & Villains. A new survival map also set on Hoth – “Ice Caverns” – will also be made available for the single player wave survival mode.

In terms of other smaller but impactful changes: Primary weapons will now do 10% more damage against vehicles. The ION torpedo has had its speed increased by 30 meters per second while using the Pulse Rifle players will suffer a 30% movement decrease and finally the pre-lobby countdown timer has been decreased from 30 seconds to 20 seconds.

6.4 Million Players Took Part In The Division’s Open Beta

Posted on February 22, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ubisoft’s open beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division appears to have been a success with over 6.4 million sleeper agents being activated across all three platforms – Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.  According to Ubi The Division’s open beta was the largest for a new intellectual property.

The amount of players logging into the open beta wasn’t the only statistic that the publisher released as the open beta drew to a close last night. On average testers spent 4 hours and 52 minutes in the game with more than 1/3rd of all play time spent in the PVP Dark Zone regions. That is quite the feat considering that the open beta only contained a limited map and progression system up until level 6.

hashtags data by hashtagify.me

According to twitter trends tracking website hasgtagify.me #TheDivision reached its most popular period over the weekend in the last two months thanks to the open beta.

How many agents do you think will log-in when the full version launches March 8th? Our staff will have coverage of the game starting on day one!

Twilight Princess HD: GameCube Vs. Remake Trailer

Posted on February 22, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

How does a game originally designed for hardware released nearly fifteen years ago fair against an updated version built for modern hardware? This is the question that the latest trailer for Twilight Princess HD asks as the Wii U and GameCube go head to head.

Nintendo’s 2006 GameCube swansong / Wii launch title The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is about to make the jump to the 8th generation of consoles with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U on March 2nd.

The GameCube version has a soft spot in heart, mostly because it kept the dungeon layouts in tact as they were intended and also maintained Link’s preference to wield a sword in his left hand. At the time the Wii version was really neat thanks to its sword motion controlled but it has been surpassed thanks to the nearly 1:1 accuracy of Skyward sword. Although some of the vibrancy of the GameCube version appears to have been lost in the HD update – it will be nice to play this game again with cleaned up textures and the original layouts!

New Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Direct Feed Footage

Posted on February 22, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Plants Vs Zombie Garden Warfare 2

Electronic Arts is set to release their sequel to 2014’s Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare tomorrow and I’m currently playing the game for review. While I won’t spoil most of the alterations, additions and returning content that Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare  has I thought it’d be a good idea to share some footage from the Xbox One version of the game.

The three videos below will give you a taste of the multiplayer battles from each side – Plans & Zombies – and footage taken from the single player’s first escort mission.

Look out for our final verdict on the game tomorrow morning when it hits retail!

The Arbiter From Halo Casts Judgement Within The Ring of Killer Instinct

Posted on February 21, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Arbiter Killer Instinct

Can the punished right hand of the Covenant forces, The Arbiter, dispense justice upon the combatants of Killer Instinct? After being announces at GamesCom last summer the Arbiter finally has his own gameplay trailer showing off some of the moves he’ll use in combat as well as the new Sanghelios stage.

In terms of move-set the Arbiter is able to wield his iconic energy sword with successive quick blows flying towards his opponents. He also comes equipped with a Covenant carbine rifle which can be used across the arena and a sticky grenade for good measure. It seems like defeating The Arbiter won’t come down to mashing buttons but rather a battle of wits, are you ready?

The Arbiter will be available as part of Killer Instinct: Season 3 on Xbox One and for the first time Windows 10 this March.
