Super Galaxy Squadron EX | Review

Posted on February 26, 2016 by Erika

A shmup can be categorized as a “you vs the world” shoot-em up that’s hard as hell and can often be rage inducing. Super Galaxy Squadron EX really isn’t  that rage inducing but its still a shump.  Super Galaxy Squadron EX, following along with it’s original counterpart, is a much more forgiving vertical shump, when compared to say, the infamous Touhou series by ZUN. Before I get into how easily someone can get into the game, here’s a little bit on the game- Super Galaxy Squadron EX is a remastering and rebuild of Super Galaxy Squadron. In both games, a truce was forged after a war between the United Interstellar Federation and the alien race Tau Ceti. After an attack on a neutral world by the Tau Ceti, the Super Galaxy Squadron is mobilized to take out the threat and eventually take on the Tau Ceti’s space armada. Players take on the roll of a fighter in the Super Galaxy squadron and face a mass of enemy forces much greater than their own. The game plays from a top down perspective and features all of the hallmarks of the shump gametype; health, hyper shots, and ship upgrades all appear in the game. Read More

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company officially unveiled Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon today, one day removed from a leak online as official trademark filings were dug up yesterday. The games will be released for the Nintendo 3DS in holiday 2016.

Also announced was the ability to use the Pokémon Bank to transfer Pokémon you’ve caught in the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow into your copy of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon. Pokémon from Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y can also be brought into Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon in the same way.

An update is planned for the Pokémon Bank to support Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will be the first games in the Pokémon series to allow players to choose from nine languages to play in. In addition to English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish, players will now be able to play in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

There weren’t many details revealed, but Nintendo promises more information is on the way about Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

Posted on February 26, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Spanish developer Byte 4 Games appears to be working a new title for the as of yet unrevealed next console from Nintendo, codenamed “NX”.

According to the project’s Game Designer / Director’s LinkedIn profile the studios’ unannounced NX projects may be titled “Mech Super eXtended” and could also be heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

A cursory google search for the game’s title reveals no information on the title and Byte 4 Games’ official website and social media presence is currently focused on their multiplatform arcade shooter Demon’s Crystal which was revealed last July. It is also worth mentioning that the developer’s twitter account also appears to be inactive, waiting for someone to interact with their fans.

We’ve reached out to Byte 4 Games for comment and will update this story should we hear back. Do you think we will see more potential NX titles leak with GDC just around the corner?
