Community Developed Halo Online Eldewrito 0.6 Confirmed To Release This Friday

Posted on April 16, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

Microsoft has long since abandoned their attempts to bring Halo 3’s multiplayer experience to PC via the Russian only free to play title Halo Online. Although almost two years have passed since the game’s official closure in August of 2016, a dedicated group of community developers have kept the game going with semi-regular updates thanks to a leaked Russian build of the Halo Online client.

Here are just some of the improvements and highlights that the Eldewrito team is promising for the upcoming 0.6 release:

  • The original Halo experience brought to PC (for free).
  • Dual wielding and deployable equipment implemented (from Halo 3).
  • Improvements to the Forge Mode which include new material types, new tools and new items.
  • Advanced map control: Weather, skyboxes and lighting.
  • Inclusion of an auto-updater to keep everyone on the same version. (not in the trailer but confirmed on the game’s reddit.)

I’ve had a lot of fun with Halo Online in the past couple of years and have blogged about it a handful of times. Version 0.6 is a longtime coming and brings a lot of requested features that fans have been hoping for – dual wielding and workable equipment. It is even more impressive when you consider that these passionate community devs don’t have access to the game’s source code or development tools. All of these improvements and features have been fixed or implemented with only an outdated leaked build of the client.

Once the full patch notes and download are made available on April 20th I’ll be sure to make another post.

The Arbiter From Halo Casts Judgement Within The Ring of Killer Instinct

Posted on February 21, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Arbiter Killer Instinct

Can the punished right hand of the Covenant forces, The Arbiter, dispense justice upon the combatants of Killer Instinct? After being announces at GamesCom last summer the Arbiter finally has his own gameplay trailer showing off some of the moves he’ll use in combat as well as the new Sanghelios stage.

In terms of move-set the Arbiter is able to wield his iconic energy sword with successive quick blows flying towards his opponents. He also comes equipped with a Covenant carbine rifle which can be used across the arena and a sticky grenade for good measure. It seems like defeating The Arbiter won’t come down to mashing buttons but rather a battle of wits, are you ready?

The Arbiter will be available as part of Killer Instinct: Season 3 on Xbox One and for the first time Windows 10 this March.

Blood Gulch comes to CS:GO

Posted on December 23, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

In a move most people would find confusing at least, and odd and frustrating at most, modder Itszu has created a CS: GO custom map modelled after the iconic halo level Blood Gulch.  Painstakingly reproduced the map has only a few changes here and there to still be playable in CS:GO, like bomb sites and buy zones. Other than that the Halo: CE fan favorite is completely recreated. Itszu tells us on his steam works page

“All level geometry is hand-done, including brushwork and displacements. Textures have been modified as needed to support Source’s unique texture parameters. All scenery (rocks, trees) ported with Wall Worm Model Tools from Gearbox’s level assets for Halo: Custom Edition, with hand-done custom collisions to conform to Source’s convex requirements. Some textures are heavily modified from the original, and others are entirely new due to differences in texture tech between halo’s Blam engine and Source 2013.”

If you want to pick up the mod go check out the Steam works page, its playable in custom games of CS:GO.

Halo 5 Live Stream Event Reveals New DLC

Posted on November 22, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

Halo 5 ‘s developers 343i promised myriad DLC for their newest entry in to the Halo 5 franchise, and it seems that the first wave of that promise has been delivered. 343 already announced in a blog post that they would be releasing the much improved forge mode in December, it now seems that we will get even more content in December. Design and Trend (a website that follows all things design and game) noticed the new DLC “hidden” in the forge mode video

THE SPANKR IS BACK BABBY

A still from the video reveals new armor and weapon skins

Thats the classic rocket launcher right there the SPANKR in all its glory. That single still appears at the tail end of an over two hour devlog about the game’s forge mode, by the end of which most people will no doubt have tuned out. The few frames seems to show the old rocket launcher (an addition many people would be happy to see) Also returning are the Mk4 armor (from halo 3)
