And there have been several hints to her identity from in game voice lines, pictures, and behind the scenes stuff. Sombra Well now we know shes probably coming this month to an Overwatch team near you. Battle.net Endures DDOS Attack

Posted on June 29, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Blizzard Entertainment’s Battle.net service was the target of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack this past evening. Customer service agents announced the service distribution on one of the company’s official twitter accounts. Users reported connection problems with games like Overwatch on Reddit, with several posts being unable to even sign-in to the Battle.net launcher. Over the course of this outage our staff noticed considerable lag and matchmaking issues with Overwatch as well. The entire attack lasted roughly seven hours – at least that the time difference between Blizzard CS announcing the attack and sounding the all clear. [#BNet] We are currently monitoring a

All of Titan Fall 2’s DLC will be free

Posted on June 21, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

It is all too easy to lose sight of news post E3 and just talk about all of the amazing games you played, things you saw, and stuff you did. However something as important as this shouldn’t be ignored. Titan Fall was a good shooter, its lack of campaign kept it back from being great, and it had a few mechanics that needed tweaking, but it introduced several elements that most modern shooters now emulate.  So good was it that even with lack luster sales on PC and a fan base that cried for a single player experience in its

Breaking All The Rules With Lawbreakers [E3 Hands-On]

Posted on June 21, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

The man behind Microsoft’s chainsaw wielding Gears of War franchise, Cliff Bleszinski left Epic Games back in 2012 but he hasn’t been sitting idle in the subsequent four years. He’s formed a new studio, BossKey, and they brought an alpha version of their upcoming arena shooter Lawbreakers with them to Los Angeles last week. After playing several rounds of this in your face shooter at E3 with the development team and quite a few hours with the Friends & Family alpha at home, I’m here to tell you how CliffyB is about to come back in a big way! Lawbreakers is a role-based

Quake Champions Will Hopefully Learn From DOOM’s Multiplayer Missteps

Posted on June 13, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Today at their pre-E3 press conference Bethesda revealed the rumored Quake reboot to the world and this re-introduction to id Software’s 1990s darling is probably not what a lot of people expected – an arena shooter. Foregoing the series roots as a open ended corridor shooter Quake Champions aims re-live the glory days (or is that gorey days?) of Quake III arena with a focus on arena style combat. Bethesda says that the game will be accessible for players of all skill levels but will also offer options that cater to the series’ hardcore fans such as an unlocked frame-rate

Blizzard releases another animated short “dragons”

Posted on May 17, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Blizzard is back with another animated short to flesh out their world of Overwatch. This one features Genji and Hanzo with a bit of their backstory and just enough combat to keep it interesting. Take a look also at the attention paid to detail on the map, each bit of damage shows up on the in game Hanamura map and its that attention to detail and the quality of animation that really make this short the best we have yet seen.

LawBreakers was the best game at PAX East

Posted on May 2, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

The most fun I had playing a game at the recent PAX East convention wasn’t as I had expected one of the many Xbox games on demo (gears 4, Mirrors Edge 2) or even the VR experiences. It was in fact a new twist on the old school genre of the arena shooter. That game is called LawBreakers from Nexon, and it’s incredible. Arena shooter are nothing new, this year alone we have Gearbox and 2K’s cell shaded Battle Born, Blizzard’s massive Overwatch, and now LawBreakers. Arena shooters it would seem are back, and I for one could not be happier.

Battleborn Beta Review

Posted on April 20, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Review by our newest Reviwer, so new she doesnt even have an account: Kylie Trace Sometime last summer I started hearing about Battleborn, a sci-fi/fantasy first person MOBA developed by Gearbox Software, the creators of Borderlands. Battleborn’s graphics are solid and have a cartoony feel that really adds to the colorful battlefield. The number of playable characters means that there’s something for everyone. I thought it looked fun, so I was excited to hear it was going to have an open beta which would give me the chance to check it out before its actual release. The basic plot is that

Doom open beta extended

Posted on April 18, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

If you aren’t our own Rae Michelle, you are probably enjoying the DOOM beta this weekend. Its blend of rockets, fast movement, cosmetics and unlocks seems to have made someone happy as its overlords, Bethesda softworks (yes the skyrim people) have decided to extend it to 11:59pm ET. on April 18. Personally I havent been able to get in to it at all, as this weekend saw the Overwatch beta as well as a bunch of other gaming related stuff, but I did watch some streams of it, and they seemed pretty good. Plenty of peole had the same set

Tracer’s Butt and Why I’m Okay with the “Over the Shoulder” Pose

Posted on March 29, 2016 by Renee Gittins

A recent post on the Overwatch forums has sparked a controversy over how one of Overwatch‘s star characters, Tracer, is represented in the game. The thread started as a complain from a player who claimed that Tracer’s “Over the Shoulder” pose was too sexualized for the character and is in opposition to Tracer’s spunky personality. They claim this sexualization of Tracer reduces her depth as a strong female character to “another bland female sex symbol”. As many of our readers know, I am very outspoken for proper representation and consideration for women in games. I completely agree that sexualization of

Paragon gameplay video revels new heroes

Posted on January 21, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Moba’s are really hot right now, the massive commercial sucess of League, Dota, and to a lesser extent their dozens of clones and imitators have spawned a wave of indie and AAA moba type games. I myself am a huge fan of Overwatch, Blizzards shooty moba, and Paladins, a similar game from Hi-Rez studios. So it comes as no real suprise when I see that the Epic games backed Paragon  is actaully a MOBA and not an epic sci-fi shooter. Now a new trailer is showing us what we can expect from its MOBA aspects. The new trailer, as Epic explained, features

Team Fortress 2 adds massive update

Posted on December 18, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

Sometimes it can be easy to forget that before all the Overwatch hype, before Paladins, before Destiny, there was a little game called Team Fortress 2. Well Valve hasn’t forgotten. In fact they have decided to keep updating this little game that could in their newest addition the “tough break” update. TF2 has rarely gone a year with out major new additions and it seems that 2015 is not to be that year. The game has a large healthy player community, and its nice to see that Valve is still showing it some love.

The Broken Cast is back once again with Episode 7 –The FPS Rundown. This week on the show we talk about three major First Person Shooters that have all hit the market or had closed betas in the last few weeks. First up we venture through the wastes with Fallout 4, quite a few people on our staff have been playing the game since it was released a month ago and we recount our early hours exploring the burnt out city of Boston. Star Wars Battlefront’s First DLC will add new map and game mode

Posted on November 25, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

One of the major complaints about the newest Star Wars game is that it just doesn’t feel like battlefront one and two did. It doesn’t have the scale. There is no galaxy map to conquer, and even the large walker assault mode feels empty at times. It seems EA is looking to rememdy this with the Battle of Jaku DLC. In a recent blog post  they have announced that the newst mode, which is to be called turning point, will have massive 20 on 20 action.  The game mode will have Rebel forces pushing hard to capture a series of increasingly difficult checkpoints
