Posted on October 15, 2013 by Kintarius

Activision Blizzard’s quest to become independent of its parent company Vivendi has been completed today, following the overturning of a September ruling that ceased the purchase, dropping Vivendi’s stake in the company to about 12 percent.

The move was headed by an investor group led by CEO Bobby Kotick, whom completed the US$8.2 billion buyout Friday, ending the 5 years of Activision Blizzard being a subsidiary of Vivendi.

Battlefield Director Wants To Bring Linux Into Mainstream

Posted on October 14, 2013 by Kintarius

DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson has expressed a deep desire to develop games for Linux in an interview with Polygon.

“We strongly want to get into Linux for a reason … It took Halo for the first Xbox to kick off and go crazy — usually, it takes one killer app or game and then people are more than willing [to adopt it] — it is not hard to get your hands on Linux, for example, it only takes one game that motivates you to go there.”

Was There A League of Legends Card Game In The Works?

Posted on October 13, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

League Of Legends Logo 2015

Over the weekend a twitter account belonging to Riot Game’ president and co-founder Mark Merrill appears to have been compromised. A hacker using the handle ‘Jason’ took control of Mr.Merrill’s account on Saturday and posted several images and details for a cancelled &unannounced League of Legends trading card game called ‘League of Legends Supremacy’.

Supposedly the game had been completed by the folks over at Riot Games but for unknown reasons they decided to scrap the project before announcing it. Jason had threatened to release a 200MB zip file containing several images from the project but stopped short of doing so. Instead he provided twitter users with copies of the in-game text from the project, several templates and a single image of a supposed login screen.

It is unknown if Jason actually possessed a working version of League of Legends: Supremacy or if he was simply in possession of leaked screenshots. After the Merrill regained control of his account he tweeted that Riot Games works on ‘a variety of ideas… that may never see the light of day.”

Pokemon X & Y: Four Things I’ve Enjoyed So Far

Posted on October 13, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

My history with the Pokemon franchise dates back to the late 1990s with the release of Pokemon Red & Blue on the original Gameboy. Sure, I was only 12 at the time but right from the start I was entranced by the prospect of raising my own monsters and battling it out against my friends during recess.

Now 15 years later Nintendo revitalizes the franchise with the first fully 3D handheld title in series history, Pokemon X & Y. Can it possibly hold up to the fond memories I have of raising my first Charmander in Pallet town over a decade ago? Our in-depth review is probably a week away but here are my impressions of the first five hours.

There’s a lot to experience in the latest iterations of Pokemon, and I’ll save some of opinions until I am further into the game, so here’s four things I’ve enjoyed so far.Read More

Combat looks amazing, wandering the world is beautiful, but yet there’s even more! Mega Evolutions which seem to take place with a special device for a limited time in combat after your Pokémon has reached level 100. It sounds like not all Pokémon have mega evolutions, but those that do look awesome!Read More

The NEO GEO X Is No More

Posted on October 5, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Did you purchase the NEO GEO X when it became available this past January? Well if you didn’t and you are interested in it your time is running out on grabbing a brand new unit at it’s regular price. SNK, owners of the NEO GEO brand among other gaming staples, have terminated their agreement with the devices manufacturer Tommo Inc.

NEO GEO X is a handheld console designed to emulate games for SNK’s original home console. The limited edition bundle, which is still available on various retailers including Amazon as of the writing of this article, included a widescreen portable gaming console, a wireless joystick and home docking system molded in the shape of the original Neo Geo console. Twenty different games preloaded with the console and more could be added via SD card.

SNK has asked Tommo to immediately stop manufacturing and promoting the handheld. It could be some time but eventually I’m sure the Neo Geo X will command a higher price as retailers stop stocking it.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Version 1.06 Patch Notes

Posted on October 1, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

Probably a recurring question if you follow my Second Dimension: The Warriors Code interviews is the topic of patching fighters. On the 24th in the game’s official website, the notes for version 1.06 of Injustice: Gods Among Us was released and as usual, an inferno of praises and crying (mostly crying) soon followed. While usually I just list the changes and since today is the date for the patch’s release,  we got two returning people who to give us a better insight of the changes and their opinion on them, BIFU | Insaynne and EMP CDjr who you guys remember from their respective interviews.Read More
