A Blizzard Russian community manager has revealed on their official forums which heroes which will be free this week. Long-time mainstays like Raynor and Muradin are free alongside Rexxar who makes his first appearance on the free line-up after being released last month.

Rexxar is a unique Hero due to the fact that players control two characters at one time, adding a bit more micromanagement to the game. He is also the first ranged warrior to make an appearance in Heroes of the Storm.

Here’s the full line-up for this week:

  • Raynor
  • Muradin
  • Tassadar
  • Jaina

Posted on October 8, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Lt. Morales the recognizable Terran medic from the StarCraft series joins Heroes of the Storm with the release of the latest patch. For those of you who have played StarCraft or its 2010 sequel will instantly recognize her. During development she was simply known as “The Medic” before being given a more formal name.

Starcraft II: Legacy of The Void Reclamation Cinematic

Posted on September 27, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Blizzard Entertainment released a brand new animatic for the upcoming third entry in the Starcraft II trilogy, Legacy of the Void. This new video showcases a bit of an abbreviated version of the Protos’ history as well as sets up the stakes for their planned reclamation of the their home planet, Aiur.

If you haven’t been following the StarCraft II story line some of the smaller nuances might be lost on you – as they were me. Now might be a good time to catch-up on your Starcraft lore before Legacy of the Void’s launch on November 10th.

New features in Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void include a full single player campaign, new multiplayer units and inclusion of a new ‘archon mode’ which allows two players to play a match while controlling one single base.

Heroes of The Storm | Review

Posted on September 6, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Written By: Fionna Fox

Have you ever wanted to see a Zerged out Kerrigan throw down with Thrall? How about Tasadar and the Witchdoctor from Diablo 3? All possible with blizzards new MOBA game, Heroes of the Storm.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games have recently become as common as grains of sand on a beach but Blizzards entry is looking to differentiate itself by creating a unique niche inside of a very crowded environment. Heroes appeals to a more casual audience than league or DOTA with most matches lasting less than 20 minutes, and a heavy emphasis on team fights and objectives. The item shop has been removed and leveling is done as a team, rather than individually. This is balanced out with a unique role system that creates a rock, paper, scissors feeling when choosing champions. Games are made more variable by a set of talents that modify the core ability of each champion which you chose as you level up in game. This system makes the game feel very much like Warcraft III with progressive leveling of your heroes as the game goes on. The whole thing is wrapped up in the beautiful tile sets of blizzards many worlds and has a really aesthetic.Read More

Blizzard Unveils OverWatch – a Team Based FPS!

Posted on November 11, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Over the weekend Blizzard Entertainment unveiled a team based FPS called OverWatch. If this announcement comes as a bit of a surprise, that’s because it is! The developer further stated that the team that was working the cancelled Project Titan continued to refine their ideas until they became what was unveiled at Blizzcon.

In addition to an entire array of screenshots Blizzard also released a nearly six minute long trailer that introduces us to all of the classes. As to be expected all of them have a unique personality, look and game play style.  My favorite has to be Widowmaker whom uses a cloaking device to gain the advantage while picking off targets from long distance with her sniper rifle. Another fan amongst the Broken Joysticks staff was also Tracer!

Blizzard hopes that OverWatch will be particularly friendly to new players, in their press release they described the game play style as “pick up and play”. If you want in on the 6 Vs 6 battles Blizzard has opened the beta sign ups on their official site.

Check out the trailer, a whole gallery of screenshots and official characters bios after the jump.Read More

Siege of Orgrimmar Coming Soon To WoW

Posted on August 27, 2013 by Les Major

As many of you know, I was a huge fan of the Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War novel by Christie Golden. Unsurprisingly the events in that book and seemingly the following title Vol’jin Shadows of the Horde (I haven’t read it yet but it does seem to fit the current WoW story) fit into actual World of Warcraft lore.

Odds are if you’re reading this, you’re already a big WoW fan anyway, but if you’ve been out of the game for awhile the info below may contain spoilers. Or if nothing else, a good glipse at the future of Azeroth.Read More

Blizzard Lays Down The Ban Hammer On Bots

Posted on December 20, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to find your perfect set of gear in a game like Diablo III only to find that either the people you are playing with have snagged it or the marketplace is flooded dozens of them thanks to bots. For serious players it can take away the meaning of rare drops and in the worst case scenarios it can bring the game to its knees by overloading the servers.

Blizzard revealed today that they have banned a few thousand accounts for hacking, boting among other offenses. Since this is a game with an economy based upon real money it is nice to see the developers taking things seriously. Apparently cheating was so widespread that it was starting to cause problems with Battle.net.

Check out their official statement after the jump.Read More

The World of Warcraft Killer

Posted on October 8, 2012 by Jason Bassett

Have you been playing World of Warcraft recently? Do you have the latest expansion Mists of Pandaria? Are you sitting there reading this and getting mad? Then you’ve probably hit the Mists of Pandaria hacker today on World of Warcraft.

So, here’s the story by Dual Shockers: A level one player managed to hack the game to get to fly around the city and start killing innocent bystanders that just happened to be at the Alliance capitol city: Stormwind. Why was he doing it? Well, we do not have that information at this time, heck, we don’t even have the player that was doing it. What makes this even weirder, is that there Blizzard was working on a fix that would stop players from being stuck on the world connection screen. Pretty weird, eh? Is that a coincidence somehow?

It seems that Blizzard is still looking into this issue and have already rolled out the fix for the connection issues. We’ll update you more as soon as we hear anything. You might want to stay away from Stormwind for a while in the meantime.

Diablo 3 Patch To Add Paragon Leveling System

Posted on August 20, 2012 by Les Major

Blizzard has been eager to add reasons for players to keep enjoying Diablo 3 long after they’ve completed the main story line. The new paragon leveling system announced today seems to be a great addition. Originally reaching level 60 just left players in an item hunt with no where else to go with their characters. The paragon system adds 100 new levels that begin at level 60.

A big issue for level 60 players has been finding magic gear to continue improving their character. Some players had Magic Find stat boosting sets of equipment they’d switch into before defeating enemies to raise their chances of good drops. This upset other players who were against the gear swapping concept. So every paragon level rewards you with 3% Magic Find and 3% Gold Find boosts. As well as core stat boosts like you’d get from a normal level up.

It will be interesting to see where this new concept goes. For more details straight from blizzard on this new system continue to read more.

RIFT Wants You To Make a Long Term Commitment

Posted on August 14, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

MMORPG Rift is set to expand with the release of Storm Rift, the game’s first official expansion, later this fall. Trion Worlds hopes to entice existing and returning players by offering the expansion free of charge with a one year commitment to the game. Subscribers who shell out for the one year commitment will also receive the title of ‘Storm bringer” and an in-game “Landslide” mount.

Storm Rift is set to offer players ten addition character levels, a dozen brand new zones and customizable spaces called Dimensions.

If this particular strategy seems familiar, that’s because it is essentially the same deal Blizzard offered World of Warcraft subscribers last fall. Although, Blizzard was offering players a free copy of Diablo III for their commitment. Will Trion’s enticing free expansion be enough to lure fans of the game back? We’ll have to wait and see.

Due to a recent breach on Blizzard’s internal network the company is recommending users change their Battle.net account passwords. The actual password info accessed was scrambled, and this recommendation is just a precaution. It seems no personal information was accessed says Blizzard.
