Posted on October 29, 2012 by Les Major

You know the cute cartoon mascots, all those fun percentage numbers, and the fact that your wallet is about to take a huge hit. That’s right, it’s Steam sale time again! It seems the featured games section in the sale are highlighted titles and below that is a list of all Halloween sale games through October 31st.

Just throwing some titles out there, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is on sale for just $2.49 so if you want some H. P. Lovecraft horror to your Halloween, there’s a starting point. At least one I havn’t played yet anyway. Meanwhile in content I can vouche for, Dead Space 1 and 2 are on sale. If you havn’t played them yet, do yourself a favour. Especially the original is a fantastic title! Alan Wake is also on sale which is another horror survival title I’m happy to have in my collection.

Hitman: Absolution Video: Dynamic Audio

Posted on October 29, 2012 by Jesse Lord

Just a quick news post to highlight a video sent to my inbox this morning by our contacts at Square Enix.  Called “Dynamic Audio,” this clip emphasizes the work that goes into creating the aural mood in a game like Hitman: Absolution.  I personally find that music in video games is one of the biggest influences on me and my enjoyment of the game.  Couple a touching scene with the right music and you’ve got something that truly pulls on my heart-strings and could even see a tear roll down my cheek.  Get a nice high-beats-per-minute track down in an action sequence and my grip on the controller tightens, my pupils dilate and my pulse quickens.  But enough from me – check out the video below!

Activision/Terminal Reality Names The Walking Dead ‘Survival Instinct’

Posted on October 26, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Terminal Reality, known for BloodRayne & Kinect: Star Wars, along with Activision have announced the name to their Walking Dead game cleverly titled: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

Completely unrelated to the fantastic Telltale Walking Dead game episode series, Survival Instinct is a first person shooter that places you in the role of Daryl Dixon. Who by far is my favorite character in the franchise thus far.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a prequel to the T.V. series as it takes place before Daryl and his infamous brother Merle make it to Atlanta. This game will focus the brothers making their way through the Georgia countryside to the “safe” city of Atlanta. While you only play as Daryl, you can bet that Merle will be there to give you grief throughout the entire game.

You will also meet fellow survivors along the way which you can either help or leave to their own devices, but the consequences of doing so may come back to haunt you.

No set date has been revealed so far for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, but it is expected to launch sometime next year. If you’re a fan of the tv series, join us on our forums and discuss it there! Spoilers are there, so you’ve been warned!

Dunwall City Trials DLC Announced For Dishonored

Posted on October 26, 2012 by Joshua Rust

The first of three planned DLC for the well received Dishonored is titled ‘Dunwall City Trials’. The Dunwall City Trials has been give a tentative release date of December with no exact date to pin it down to and will be priced at 400 MSP (or $4.99).

The Dunwall City Trials will offer: “ten distinct trials await challengers,” says the blurb, “including an arena battle against waves of enemy AI, a gravity-defying run of drop assassinations, and a race against the clock. ”

“Dunwall City Trials also features a whole new set of achievements and trophies as well as a global online leaderboard that will establish the greatest assassins for each challenge.”

In addition to the Dunwall City Trails DLC, the other two DLC will be story-driven and released sometime in 2013.  The second DLC will put you in the shoes of Daud, the leader of a group of supernatural assassins.

“Make your way through new Dunwall locales and discover Daud’s own set of weapons, powers and gadgets in this story-driven campaign. How you play and the choices you make will impact the final outcome…”

Story-driven content? Heck yes please! If you haven’t picked up Dishonored yet and are still hanging on the fence about it, check out our review here. I’m really enjoying it a lot, it’s one of the best new IP’s to come out this generation.

XCOM: Enemy Unkown is the resurrection of a once great series. The original XCOM titles were amazing tactical and unforgiving you could lose hours trying to save the world. I’d love to say that Enemy Unknown is the perfect return to form however that would just not be true. This series has been updated sometimes for the better and other times for the worse.Read More

Windows 8 Marketplace Will Be Selling M-Rated Titles

Posted on October 25, 2012 by Jason Bassett

It seems as though there was a slip-up over at the Microsoft legal department. Mature rated games will be finding their way back into the picture in the Windows 8 Marketplace when Windows 8 launches.

Currently, under section 6.2 of the Microsoft App Store guidelines sections 6.2 states that apps or games rated PEGI 16, ESRB Mature or a corresponding rating under other ratings systems would not be added to the Windows 8 Marketplace. In video game community this alienated both consumers and developers as both would have to look else where to find games. Games like Dishonored or Bioshock Infinite would most likely be banned in the Marketplace if this rule were to be followed.

Gizmodo recently sat down with Windows Corporate VP of Web Services Antoine Leblond and said that:

It basically ends up disqualifying games that would be ESRB Mature. This is to give developers a heads up that that’s where we’re going, so they can have the peace of mind around developing the kinds of games that will have those ratings.

Leblond also went on to announce that these changes would be changed in December and the current guidelines will be updated to include mature rated games in the Marketplace.

This will hopefully clear up confusion and will make buy games on Window’s platforms a little bit easier.

Minecraft Topples COD: Modern Warfare 3 For XBL Supremacy

Posted on October 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The Xbox Live “most played” charts aren’t usually a site for heated competition between popular games but this week we have a new king in Mojang’s Minecraft. The Xbox Live version of the block building toppled Activision’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 for the most players on Microsoft’s Online service. Certainly MineCraft is no longer the small indie title that it was back in 2009 but it is still amazing to see a game developed by a small team dethrone a juggernaut like COD.

Older titles like Modern Warfare 2 and Halo: Reach are still in the top but with new entries in both of those series, Black Ops II & Halo 4, surely they will move down in the ranks to make room for newer games.

Here’s the top 5 Xbox Live games for last week:

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
EA Sports FIFA Soccer 13
Call of Duty: Black Ops

The housing market might still be in a rough spot, but if you think you can do any better Nintendo’s latest Animal Crossing is set to give you the chance to play out all of your animal related mogul fantasies.

Freshly minted as Animal Crossing: New Leaf , the 3DS title places players in the role of the town mayor. Players will decide what buildings and projects to work on for the town and will have the ability to dictate shop hours among other similar corrupt abuses of power.

How To Use Xenia Emulator

Posted on October 25, 2012 by Jeff Wade

This is a sponsored post

Have you ever been wondering if it’s possible to play the Xbox games on your PC? Well, guess what – you actually can! The thing is, you need to install an emulator to do that. If you are not quite sure about what an emulator is, where to get it for free (because who wants to pay for entertainment?) and how to use it, then you would be ecstatic about the fact that we have prepared a whole step-by-step that will answer all the questions you might have floating around in your head! Shall we go in?

An Xbox 360 is considered as one of the best video game consoles that have been developed by Microsoft – and we simply cannot argue with that! It offers so many wonderful features that can be accessed via “Xbox live”, which is its official online service. You can do anything with an Xbox 360 – from downloading and playing all the cool games to streaming music videos. Yes, it really is that grand, believe it or not. It is said to have competed with Wii by Nintendo and even Sony’s PlayStation 3. Sounds pretty cool, right?

And if you want to get a hold of it, yet you don’t really have that much money, then you would be happy to know that you can run many of the Xbox 360 games on your standard Windows PC simply by using the Xenia Xbox 360 emulator! Xenia is the only legitimate one we would recommend you. You can play some of your favorite games in a semi-playable state, yet it is constantly being improved, so don’t you think it will always be glitchy if you happen to have noticed one or two of those.

Xenia is great because it does exactly what it claims to do. Today, it is compatible with over forty-five Xbox 360 games at their full speed and full quality, making it the best emulator for an Xbox 360 that can be used on a PC or a Mac computer. Intrigued? Well, here’s how to download it and use it!

Before we go into it, we have to inform you that Xenia can only be used if your computer of choice has the following characteristics (it might work with other computers that have pretty decent rigs, yet the Windows version has to be one of the latest ones – otherwise the emulator won’t be supported):

– It has the Windows 8.1 operative system (or later versions of it)

– It has 8GB RAM

– The processor it has is the Intel Core i3-3240 one

– It has the GeForce GTX 750 Ti

How to install the Xbox 360 Xenia Emulator for your computer

To start with, download the latest version of Xenia from yep download.

A zip file will be downloaded on to your computer straight away.

Extract it from the archive it’s in by using different softwares that you can find on the Internet.

Click to open the .exe file for it.

That’s it! You are done with the installation process! Ease breezy, wasn’t it?

Tales of Xillia Launches In Japan Next Week

Posted on October 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Tales of Xillia 2, Namco Bandai’s next game ( also first direct sequel  in sometime ) in the long running Tales of  series is almost ready for release in Japan. Xillia 2 will be released on November 1st, just one week from now the company has announced via webcast.

Pre-ordering the game gives you exclusive goodies including a novel that bridges the storylines of both games, costume DLC (which Namco will probably release as paid DLC later in the year) and a PlayStation 3 theme. According to Namco development of Xillia 2 took place simultaneously with the first game, as production began ramping down on the first. No wonder they are able to release them within a year of announcement!

Unfortunately for North American gamers who knows if we will ever see Xillia 2.The first game is still undergoing localization and is due out sometime next year. I hope that Xillia 2 doesn’t join the ranks of Tales of Innocence R or Radiant Mythology 2  & 3 and go unreleased. Of course, those three games where all PSP/Vita games and the handheld market hasn’t been so hot.

Posted on October 24, 2012 by Joshua Rust

The second DLC for Darksiders 2 is set to release next week. If you happened to miss the first DLC, Argul’s Tomb, check out our review here! Releasing on October 30th for 800 MSP will be the Abyssal Forge.

Here is the official description of the DLC:

“The Abyssal Forge is a living machine designed to harness the unfocussed dark power of the Abyss and create the most powerful legendary weapons.

“The Maker who built this abomination, known only as the Mad Smith, was shunned by his own people and sealed away in the Shadow Lands with his creation. However, the forge hasn’t remained dormant all those years of captivity; it has constructed a vast army and now threatens all creation.”

The Abyssal Forge will take place in a “vast swamp-like Shadow Lands”. Which will include “two challenging new dungeons, new enemies, secrets to uncover and unique legendary loot to collect”.

If you have bought the Season Pass, make sure you download it in game that way you don’t buy it twice. Speaking of the Season Pass for Darksiders 2…pay attention to the site as we might have something special for you…
