AYN just pulled the curtain back on its next big handheld — and this time, we won’t have to wait long to buy one.
After teasing the Odin 3 Portal’s design last week with the tagline “Flagship Power, Precise Control,” the company dropped the device’s first teaser trailer this weekend, confirming the headline hardware: Qualcomm’s Dragonwing Q8 chip and a 9,000mAh battery. And today AYN put a bow on it — according to Time Extension, pre-orders open tomorrow, October 22, at 6:30pm PT / 9:30pm ET, with prices starting at $399 USD (about $560 CAD).

The Dragonwing Q8 is the same silicon inside AYN’s regular Odin 3 — essentially a Snapdragon 8 Elite without the cellular modem, with Oryon CPU cores running up to 4.32GHz and an Adreno 830 GPU. Compared to the Odin 2 Portal’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8,000mAh battery, that’s a two-generation jump in chip and a 1,000mAh bump in battery, in one move.
The rest of the spec sheet, confirmed by PC Guide: a 7-inch 1920×1080 OLED at 120Hz, 9,000mAh battery with 60W fast charging, active cooling with a fan AYN describes as quiet, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, USB 3.1 Type-C with 4K/60Hz DisplayPort output, a 3.5mm headphone jack (remember those?), a microSD slot, and Android 15. It weighs 450g — 20g more than the Odin 2 Portal and 60g more than the smaller 6-inch Odin 3, which AYN chalks up to the bigger battery and better cooling. Check out the trailer below:
Physically it looks a lot like its predecessor, but AYN answered two real user complaints: redesigned handgrips for comfort, and larger hall-effect thumbsticks with textured edges under anti-fingerprint glass. Add full-size sticks, analog triggers, and rear paddle buttons, and the controls read like a greatest-hits list.

Three models at launch, all with the same chip: the Base (12GB RAM, 128GB storage) at $399 launch (about $560 CAD, list $419), the Pro (12+256GB) at $479 (about $673 CAD, list $499), and the Max (16+512GB) at $549 (about $771 CAD, list $579). Black, White, or Cold Grey — shipping starts in early November. AYN also showed off accessories: a TPU grip, screen protector, carrying case, and Nintendo-layout ABXY buttons.
One honest note: those launch prices are limited-time discounts, and PC Guide points out AYN has raised the regular Odin 3’s price three times since launch over memory and storage shortages — so the “list” prices may end up being the real prices sooner than you’d like. (Their words, not mine — but worth flagging before you reach for your wallet.)
For the emulation crowd, this is the one to watch: 8 Elite-class silicon with active cooling in a 7-inch OLED body for under $600 CAD at launch. I’d take that over my phone with a controller strapped to it any day.
Pre-orders open tomorrow — are you jumping on the first batch, or waiting for reviews to land?
