The Last Of Us Demoed @ E3

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Kirk Williford

Sony wrapped up it’s E3 press conference this evening by showing off the first in-game demo of Naughty Dog’s upcoming title The Last of Us.

The demo featured the two main characters going through a high-budget destroyed hotel that was inhabited by enemies and included a ton of cringe-inducing gameplay elements, as both of the main characters helped each other survive by throwing bricks, stabbing enemies, and finally, introducing an enemy’s face to the barrel of a shotgun.

The game appears to be very survival based, as the lead character’s health bar often took large hits from single shots. A crafting element was revealed when a Molotov was created from various elements in the main character’s backpack.

The game’s dark tone has no influence on the world, which is bright and full of multiple colors similar to the Uncharted series — but don’t confuse the two, as The Last of Us looks to be a significant jump in play style when compared to Naughty Dog’s previous titles.

Color us interested — we can’t wait to learn more about The Last of Us, and we’ll be sure to share anything we learn with you as it becomes available.Read More

Avengers Battle For Earth Is a Who’s Who of Comic Book Legends

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Up until now little was known about Marvel’s Battle For Earth aside from the fact that the game would feature popular characters like Thor, Iron man and the Hulk. The game’s first debut trailer hit during Ubisoft’s press conference and it features none of those characters initially.

The game looks to be a who’s who when it comes to Marvel’s comic book properties. The trailer opens with Wolverine fighting Venom in the city streets of New York and before long they’re joined by Magneto ( who is seen hurling police cars) and Spider-man. As the camera pulls back an alien invasion similar to the one featured in the film is prominent in the background. Iron Man, Captain America and Thor stand tall on the roof of a skyscraper overlooking this destruction.

We know very little about the actual gameplay but it looks like Ubisoft is drawing from Marvel’s rich comic book history rather than the feature films. The advantage to this is that they can use characters like Spider-Man and Mangnetto, whose film right are owned by Sony and Fox respectively.

Check out several screen grabs after the jump.Read More

Rayman: Legends Wii U Shown at E3

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Jason Bassett

If you wanted your Wii U news,  well now you’ve got it! Rayman: Legends for the Wii was shown today and boy does it look fun. Using the Wii U Gamepad, you can control a new helper buddy named Murphy. You can do cool moves cooperatively. The colors of the game are bright and adventures. In the Wii U version, you can use the original Wii controllers as well. The game also supports the Wii U Controller Pro.

Asynchronous gameplay was also shown where Rayman and Murphy team up and a wasteland to collect a bunch of colorful rabbids. What made this even coolers is that there is an excellent (okay, kinda cool) guitar riff as you collect these rabbids. Tons of platforming elements are shown as well with falling boulders. You will also descend to also to get to other platforms.

Rayman: Legends for the Wii-U is shaping up to be one of the best games to be on the next system from Nintendo.
