Reminder: Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory Now Available

Posted on March 24, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Fans of JRPG and NIS America’s quirky sense of humor can rejoice as Hyper Dimension Neptunia Victory is now available at North American retail, after a slight delay. This is a game I’ve personally been following for months and can’t wait to spend hours with Neptunia and her video-game inspired ensemble.

The game’s story takes place sever years after the prevention of Arfoire’s revival. While GamesIndutri has enjoyed relative peace, Neptune has been transported to an alternate world facing off against a “group of seven” who seek to rid this strange world of the CPUs. Based off the 1980s videogame culture, this alternate GamesIndustri is certainly going to surprise even the most hard core of fans!

New gameplay mechanics include the ability to set up combos with your party members to deal MASSIVE DAMAGE (god that pun was horrible.. excuse me), sending out scouts to gain intel on future dungeons and the ability to “burn” game discs, allowing you to learn a whole host of hidden moves.

Hyper Dimension Neptunia is available at major retailers for $59.99!

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory Slotted For March Release

Posted on December 11, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

N.I.S America has announced that the third entry in the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise, Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory will be released in North America in March of 2013. The game, like the other two main entries in the franchise, will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3. No word on an exact release date but they did release several screenshots and a trailer to promote the game.

I’m.. going to try and contain myself like the fangirl that I am and tell you that the Neptunia series is some of the cheekiest and most hilarious satire of the console wars in sometime. Sure, the first game had some issues with grinding and dry combat mechanics, and it got some negative press for both of those, but the sequels are miles better and Victory includes some pretty neat additions.

Check out more after the jump… and N.I.S, JUST TAKE MY MONEY!Read More

The Disgaea franchise has been with us for two console generations now. Beginning life on the PlayStation 2 it has stayed exclusive on Sony hardware, most recently appearing in the form of a port of Disgaea 3 on the Vita.

Nippon Ichi is not resting with the confirmation of two new titles. Disgaea Dimension 2, a “mid-quel” if you will, takes place between Disgaea 1 and 2 and will feature the return of Laharl, Etna and Flonne as well as new characters. The game’s combat engine will be a mix between the series 1st and 4th entry according to the company.

They also confirmed via the D2 official blog that work on Disgaea 5 has begun but no other details were revealed. D2 will release on March 20th 2013 with no North American release yet confirmed. NIS Japan just keeps churning out new games!

Legasista | Review

Posted on August 22, 2012 by Les Major

If you’re a fan of NIS games and enjoy action RPG’s like Secret of Mana, this is a game you may enjoy. While it doesn’t feature the vast explorable world like Secret of Mana featured, it does have the random dungeons and intense leveling you’ve come to expect from NIS. That being said, you may want to skip this review if you’re already planning to get the game. I’ll do my best to avoid spoilers but due to the gentle learning curve in the game it’s hard to not somewhat spoil the content of the first five worlds you visit. If you’ve already looked up the games features you’ll know what unlockables I’m referring to already I’m sure. So lets talk about the system Legasista uses first.Read More

Hyper Dimension Neptunia MK 2 Heads To PSN This August

Posted on July 23, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

NIS America’s follow up to last years quirky console war inspired Hyper Dimension Neptunia, Mk2, is scheduled for release onto the PlayStation network on August 7th in North America and August 8th in Europe.

The original Hyper Dimension Neptunia is one of my favorite RPGS from this console generation. MK2 improves on the original by including a brand new combo and improved battle system. The Neptunia franchise is just as much about geek-culture humor and Anime stereotypes as it is a stats driven RPG, designed to fill a specific niche.

If you grew up playing the N64, or even something later, Neptunia is filled with cute anime girls, hilarious references and some pretty good voice work. We’ll have more on MK2 in the future, hopefully.
