The Expendables 2 Game | Review

Posted on August 8, 2012 by Eric Bastelak

There has been a stigma surrounding movie based videos games, excluding the surprise hit Spiderman 2, movie based games tend to suck and bad. I would like to say that The Expendables 2 Game (seriously “game” is in the title) breaks this stigma much like Spiderman 2 did. I would like to say that but unfortunately that would be a flat out lie.

Gravity Rush | Review

Posted on August 7, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Have you ever fallen in love with a game, so much so that it stays in your system for weeks at a time? That is the perfect analogy for my obsession with Gravity Rush. I’ve had my hands on the game for more than a few weeks now but honestly it wasn’t laziness that delayed this review, readers, it was the obsession to max out my character, finish the story and discover every nook and cranny this excellent game had to offer. Read on, to find out how I overcame my addiction to scaling up walls!

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD | Review

Posted on July 19, 2012 by Jesse Lord

Oh, 1999.  You held so much promise.  I started my sophomore year of college, got settled in my dorm room, and started the school year off right – in my friend’s room playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater on the Playstation.  From that moment on my love affair with the series began, and unlike my move away from skateboarding in real life after college, I remained faithful to my virtual skateboarder avatars for a long time, until the series just got plain silly (noseblunt grind on a dinosaur’s tail over a helicopter gap, anyone?).  So you could imagine my glee to

PAA: OTRSPODE3 | Review

Posted on July 6, 2012 by Jesse Lord

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 3 is the lastest entry in the Penny Arcade-themed video game.  At five bucks and available on many platforms, the barrier for entry is rather low.  But not everything that is cheap and easy to attain is worth the paltry sum of coins you must part with to attain it!  To that end, let’s discuss the nuances and finer points of this title, so you might be able to fully understand whether or not this is a game you’d enjoy housed in your collection.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode II | Review

Posted on June 25, 2012 by Kirk Williford

Sega has been trying for a long, long time to mimic the success of the Sonic games from the Genesis era on the current generation of consoles. Their most recent attempt comes with the Sonic 4 episodes – but that in itself brings up the question of why Sega thinks breaking up a series known for it’s fast pace and progression is a good idea. Is Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 worth it? Simply put: not really.

Sorcery | Review

Posted on June 17, 2012 by Eric Bastelak

When Sony first showed us the Play Station Move at E3 2010 there was one demo that caught everyone’s attention: Sorcery. In this demo we saw just what the Move was capable of. It could detect a variety of motions and even angles, all of these could affect the events in the game. Needless to say I was blown away. Basically the Move seemed to offer what Nintendo’s Wii had promised me. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Sorcery unfortunately all news went dark. The game released almost completely under my radar. The time has come now; the

Resistance Burning Skies | Review

Posted on June 11, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

When the Resistance franchise launched alongside the PlayStation 3 gamers were excited for the brand IP. Now the fifth game in the franchise comes to the recently launched PlayStation Vita. Can Nihilistic Software’s story of a firefighter thrust into an unfortunate situation show us what the Vita can do? We’ve spent a considerable amount of time with the game and unfortunately there are some causalities to report.

Diablo III | Review

Posted on June 5, 2012 by Andrew Minott

It has been over a decade since heroes have been summoned to Tristram’s aid. A ‘fallen star’ of unknown original has poked a rather large hole in the old, ruined cathedral in the hills above the town. As one of five adventurers, you must investigate the catastrophe and begin a journey that will have you battling for the fate of Heaven itself. Deckard Cain needs us to stay a while. Should we listen?

Sony’s Hot Shots series has a long history on the PlayStation family of consoles dating all the way back to the PlayStation One. It’s not surprising then that an entry in the franchise launched alongside the PlayStation Vita. Hot Shots World Invitational brings the anime inspired golf series to a new platform with several improvements that Sony hopes will make the game more accessible to new players. Does this latest entry in the hotshots franchise live up to expectations?

Posted on June 1, 2012 by Jason Bassett

There is nothing better than shooting down vehicles in flight; the fiery mass of technology spiraling though space with only a bad ending in sight. Starhawk is the successor of Warhawk, and Lightbox has delivered a ton of new features that will make your next trip to space one of the best on the Playstation. You are Emmett Graves and you are dealt with the unenviable task of saving the galaxy. Who are you saving it from? Your brother, Logan, who is pretty pissed off that you’re against him. As you use an arsenal of gadgets to help you along

Game Of Thrones | Review

Posted on May 30, 2012 by Eric Bastelak

Winter has come my friends. Game of Thrones, an RPG set in George R.R. Martin’s phenomenal universe, is here. I made it clear when I first discovered this game that I’m a huge fan of The Song of Ice and Fire, I adore the universe and was excited to explore it. With its ever growing popularity, thanks to the amazing HBO series, the stage has been set for Game of Thrones. However, one question still looms, can it live up to the hype?

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare | Review

Posted on May 28, 2012 by Andrew Minott

This week, on Night Springs…. Now available on PC, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, a quasi-sequel to Remedy Entertainment’s 2010 third-person adventure Alan Wake, is so concerned with name-dropping and referencing its predecessor that it never really finds a strong voice of its own. While this game is not true DLC for the original, neither the premise, the dialogue, nor the combat will make sense to those who have not completed Alan’s initial story. Nor, I suspect, would they care.

Skullgirls | Review

Posted on May 24, 2012 by Matthew Regier

Punch, kick, it’s all in the input. That’s what could be said of the Reverge Games’ explosive new fighter, Skullgirls. On the surface this Autumn Games’ published title will look like any other all-female cast fighting game in the same spirit as Arcana Heart [Atlus], but Skullgirls offers more to the genre. As Reverge Labs is head by Mike “Mike Z” Zaimont, tournament champ and artist Alex “o_8” Ahad Skullgirl’s is truly something unique within a sea of sameness. Skullgirls from day one was designed to be a tournament fighter, yet at the same time remaining approachable and engaging for
