The Keep | REVIEW

Posted on September 11, 2014 by Jason Nason

The Keep is a breath of fresh air on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, a statement riddled with irony considering the setting of the game. The game brings the classic dungeon crawler role playing game genre and definitely hits all of the right notes. In The Keep you embark on a quest to explore caves and mines filled with monsters. You are trying to find your way out while also trying to solve puzzles get yourself to freedom. The story unfolds in story narration in between floors. Here is a bit of the plot of the game and then we’ll get

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call Impressions

Posted on September 9, 2014 by Jason Nason

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call takes all of the beloved music from the Final Fantasy games and mashes them with a rhythm game and the result is pretty great, and pretty tough. The demo has released last week and I downloaded it to give it a whirl. I’ve been a longtime fan of Final Fantasy and love the music. How could I go wrong here. Playing the game is simple enough. As with similar music rhythm games, the goal is to follow a melody line and tap or swipe at the right times. This is easier said than done, at

Cooking Mama 5 Impressions

Posted on September 9, 2014 by Jason Nason

The Cooking Mama series has been around on the Nintendo DS and 3DS for a few years now, but I haven’t really tried the game before now. I tried a demo of one a few years ago but that’s about it. So I’ve taken to downloading the demo for the latest game in the series, Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appétit!, to see what’s cooking. So first off this game has the cute factor cranked up. The game has kid appeal for sure, with bright colours, peppy music and a cute main character … Mama. When you complete the tasks you

Become a Legend With The Destiny Launch Trailer

Posted on September 9, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Bungie’s latest title – the  MMO/FPS hybrid Destiny – is now available through both physical and digital retailers. To celebrate Activision released a live action trailer. This live action trailer was directed by Josepth Kosinki whom is probably most well known for helming TRON: legacy. He’s coupled his live action trailer with some Led Zepplin , which if you ask me is a pretty awesome choice. Activision is trumpeting Destiny as “the most pre-ordered new video game IP” and according to them over 4 million people participated in the in the game’s beta this past July. Players take on the

It’s like ‘Fuel’ Across America In ‘The Crew’

Posted on September 5, 2014 by Les Major

Ubisoft is being incredibly generous to us with promotion of The Crew, a new racing title coming this November. First off, it should be noted that upon the end of the beta, myself included, many stormed the forum for the game demanding more time. It is that good of a game. Picture a serious career story that unlike open world games where you can get out of your car like Watch Dogs, you’re stuck in the drivers seat but treated to tons of plot development. The hero is an interesting character, out for revenge and working for the FBI to

First Impressions Of Fading Hearts

Posted on September 5, 2014 by Les Major

Dating Sims are a sort of game you can really just sit back and enjoy. Sometimes they play out like Visual Novels and just let you read along with the story. Otherwise like Fading Hearts give you choices as you get further in that allow you to craft the story to your liking… Or just ignore it altogether and slay monsters in the woods with Dragon Quest like combat. I’m only a little ways in so far, but it seems like a game I’ll be spending quite some time with. Especially with different choices to explore.

Nintendo Announces New 3DS Model

Posted on September 5, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

In a surprise announcement I’m sure no one saw coming, Nintendo announced a brand new 3DS model last week.  Sporting several new improvements including a faster processor under the hood, two additional shoulder buttons and a second analog input in the form of a C-Stick – the new 3DS is bound to win over some fans. Nintendo is clearly taking a page from Apple’s playbook with this announcement, as all of their marketing material refers to is upgraded 3DS not as a new console but as the “New 3DS”.  It has been confirmed that the handheld will be available in
