Posted on June 11, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

We’ve known about Rare’s Sea of Thieves for quite some time now but now we know approximately when it will come out – Spring 2017. Rare’s colorful pirate world comes to life in an 8-minute gameplay trailer showcasing a team of four searching an island for an epic treasure. Players will collect cryptic riddle maps that will the player & their friends find epic loot, should they be able to survive the encounter. Perhaps my favorite moment in the E3 2017 Sea of Thieves demonstration was when the player shot themselves out of a canon and absolutely wrecked another crew’s

New Kingdom Hearts III Trailer Still Lacks Release Date

Posted on June 11, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Square Enix released a brand new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III almost a full four years after it was originally revealed at E3 2013. My original headline about the game’s announcement so many years ago told readers that “no you’re not dreaming, Kingdom Hearts 3 has been announced” and now this latest trailer opens with “Don’t assume your dreams are just fantasy” – for the entire series fan base and enthusiast press playing KH III has been relegated to the realm of dream or fantasy since the title has yet to appear at a major industry convention or conference in

Posted on June 10, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

EA dedicated a very lengthy section of their four hour livestream this afternoon to DICE’s sequel to 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront reboot. This included an on-stage presentation and featurette about the group of skilled players who helped provide input to developers about the type of changes needed to make Battlefront II’s multiplayer a success. We also got our first look at an actual full multiplayer battle thanks to their Battle on Theed promotion. DICE has made a number of fundamental changes to how the gameplay systems work in Star Wars Battlefront II. The most obvious is that units, heroes, maps

Overwatch’s Next Map Sends Players To The Moon

Posted on June 2, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Overwatch’s next new map for both competitive and quick play will take Blizzard’s heroes to the moon with the upcoming addition of the Horizon Lunar Colony. This new map, lore wise, gives us a sense of where the game’s giant ape Winston grew up and the circumstances surrounding his past and an ape uprising on the moon. Gameplay wise Horizon Lunar Colony will feature a single low gravity section near point A. There is a set of airlock doors that players can move through to experience combat with less gravity – how long do you think Junkrat would let his

Today the adorable Cat Peach & Cat Mario held a indie developer focused “Nyandies Special” over on the Nintendo Japan YouTube channel.  Even if you don’t speak Japanese (as I do not) you might still recognize that the announcement of Owlboy for Switch is a world reveal.  Other big games featured in this presentation include the already available Fast RMX, Mr.Shifty and Shovel Knight as well as the yet to be released Steam World Dig. I find the Cat Peach &  Cat Mario puppets to be absolutely adorable and endearing and I wish Nintendo of America used them. Why NOJ

Tactics Alexander Savagely Gives Us a Taste of 16-Bit FFXIV

Posted on April 2, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

April Fools Day may have come and gone but the Final Fantasy XIV team produced one of the most obvious yet fantastic pranks this year.  Titled Alexander Tactics: Savage this fake game features recognizable encounters, monsters and NPCS from FFXIV Heavanswards’ raid content and adapts them in the style of Final Fantasy Tactics. I had no clue I needed this in my life but the idea of playing XIV’s raid content on the go with retro style graphics and turned based combat sounds absolutely awesome. Split into four distinct wings – Gordias, Midas, The Creator – the Alexander raids provide

Quake Champions Newest Hero, Anarki, Is Totally 90s

Posted on March 31, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

The latest champion revealed for Bethesda / id Software’s Free-to-play FPS Quake Champions is Anarki – a hover board skating, transhumanism punk who appears to embrace the 90s surfer attitude alongside old school FPS action. Anarki’s active ability is health injection which allows him to gain a temporary health boost, which would be great to use right after taking a rocket to the fact. His passive, Hoverboard Air Control appears to allow him to traverse small distances on his hover board at an increased speed. Other tactics that might be useful when playing Anarki include rocket jumps, which are featured

Posted on March 9, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Warner Bros Interactive released a 16-minute video showcasing a vertical slice of the upcoming Middle Earth: Shadow of War. In this demonstration we get a look at the enhanced nemesis system, the use of spies, rideable mounts and so much more. Usually the gameplay reveals for major AAA titles leave something to be desired but this small section of Shadow of War’s campaign, several hours in, gives viewers a lot to chew on. Combat appears to be virtually identical to the previous entry in the franchise, Shadow of Mordor, with players assuming the role of Talion once again. New to

Playing Overwatch’s New Hero, Orisa, Is Fully Loaded Fun

Posted on March 8, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Orisa
Blizzard surprised everyone by unleashing a brand new tank for Overwatch during GDC. While I did not get much time with OW’s second Omnic, Orisa, during the convention – now that things have calmed down somewhat, I feel that it is time to dive into the experience that I have had with this Gatling Gun carrying defender and how she differs from the available roster. Orisa is a specially customized Omnic OR-15 unit modified by the child genius Efi Oladele to protect her city from the assault of Talon member, Doomfist. Unlike her contemporaries Orisa possesses an advanced artificial intelligence
