PSN Day 1 Digital Will Be Upon Us This October

Posted on September 25, 2012 by Seung Lee

If you don’t know what the PSN Day 1 Digital program is, then you’re in luck, because I’m about to explain what it is, in a rather quick and painless paragraph. Over the course of this October, PS3 gamers will be able to get their hands on digital copies of upcoming popular titles, such as Resident Evil 6, NBA 2K13, Dishonored, and Assassin’s Creed III. One key benefit of digital downloads is being able to play games on the same day that they officially release. PlayStation Plus members will also receive 10% discounts on quite a few of the many titles that Sony has to offer.

That wasn’t too bad, was it? If you hate the lines at your local retailers, or just driving out to places, then why not take advantage of this program? A word of advice, though: you may want to keep some space open for the HDD. Check out the PlayStation Blog post describing the program in full, here.

See the Back-Story of Dishonored’s Dunwall

Posted on September 25, 2012 by Jesse Lord

For those of us who can’t get enough Dishonored information (guilty!), I am pleased to present to you all the following video.  The first in the three-part “Tales from Dunwall” video series, The Awakening is set to give a further glimpse into the world that has been created to contain the storyline of the supernatural assassin.  A whaling town teeming with Plague, Dunwall is a city of intrigue, oppression and deception.

From the email I received, I discovered that the video was created by Psyop.  Each episode was predominantly produced by hand, which I think is fantastic, and it shows. Each frame was a fully rendered style frame, which was then enhanced with 3D elements to add to the painterly atmosphere, dimension and depth of each shot.  But enough about the details – let’s get right to the video!

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 | Review

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Jason Fayta

Version tested:  PlayStation 3

Tekken returns to tag after a 12 year hiatus from consoles with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (hereafter TTT2), the sequel to, that’s right, Tekken Tag Tournament. 12 years is a long time to wait for a proper follow-up to one of the more popular entries in the venerable Tekken series; does Namco Bandai drop the Tekken Ball or is TTT2 the new King of the Iron Fist?

TTT2 is the eighth main installment in the Tekken series and it is a non-canon entry, like the original Tekken Tag Tournament. TTT2 embraces its dream match premise, and in turn the roster has ballooned to a whopping 59 characters, with six of those available at a later date as free downloadable content. And if you’re wondering, Gon from Tekken 3 is not one of those 59 fighters; you’ll have to make do with Alex if you’re all about fighting dinosaurs.Read More

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Seung Lee

One of 2011’s best (and goofiest) games, Saints Row: The Third, is receiving a compilation disc aptly named, Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package. Fans of the game from the states can expect it to hit stores on November 6, while international fans will see it on November 9. As the title implies, all of the DLC that’s ever been released for Saints Row: The Third will be on the disc (no vouchers, if you were worried about that).

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Angry Birds has no end. The ever popular game that made its’ debut on mobile phones is now making its’ way to consoles as well.

The Angry Birds Trilogy combines original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds: Rio all into one disc. Which is great because that means we won’t have to pay for that DLC.

[youtube id=”hKO-K1_W6Jg” width=”600″ height=”350″]

Even though the trailer states the games is available now, it actually doesn’t release until tomorrow September 25th, in North America and September 28th in Europe.

The Walking Dead Coming To Retail

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Joshua Rust

First off, if you haven’t been watching The Walking Dead TV show – you have been missing out. I can’t wait for the third season to start.

But, onto the game now. Telltale has announced that its’ amazing episodic game, that is up to the third of five episodes at the moment, will be coming to retail on December 4th in North America. This is a great move by Telltale as some gamers still haven’t bought in to the whole “buy online” strategy.

So to me this means that the people who are downloading the episodes online will see them released within the next couple of months.

What format do you all prefer? Disc or download? Sound off in the comments below!

Nintendo Wii U is Region Locked

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Jason Bassett

Oh, Nintendo. Why do you go and make something awesome and then decide to pull things like this. If you have been catching up on the latest and greatest news on the Nintendo Wii U, then you will know that Famitsu just put out an article regarding the Wii U.

They have reported that Nintendo’s newest addition to your living room not feature the ability to play games outside of the US and Canada. So, if you want to play your Nintendo Wii U games from Japan, you’ll need to buy a Japanese Wii U in order to play them. This is very typical Nintendo as both the original Wii and the Nintendo 3DS are all region locked.

If you’re an avid collector of European or Japanese games, then I’m sure you’re just as disappointed as I am with this development.

Nintendo Wii U releases on November 18th, 2012 here in the States and will start at $299.99.

Mark of the Ninja to get Steam Release October 16

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Jeff Wade

Did Mark of the Ninja sneak by you when it released last month on XBLA? Well the 2D stealth hit is about to make an apperance on PC, via the ninja distribution platform of choice Steam.

Klei got in touch with Rock, Paper, Shotgun today to announce the game in an entirelly unstealthy and unninja like way. Lead designer Nels Anderson confirmed that the port would not be using Games for Windows Live and that it will contain tweaks to take full advantage of the new platform.

The move was not completely unexpected, as the ninja’s hinted at their announcement by an appearance in the Steam registry.

PC gamers won’t have to wait long. Mark of the Ninja infiltrates Steam on October 16, and will run you $15.

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Jeff Wade

A demo with two missions for Firaxis’ upcoming XCOM: Enemy Unknown hits Steam today, offering a taste of the battle against alien invasion ahead of its October 9 release date.

Firaxis’s XCOM reboot, not to be confused with 2K Marin’s delayed FPS game, returns to the series’ strategy roots, with plenty of research, experimentation and turn based battles to go around. The reboot plans to address the original game’s steep learning curve while maintaing the depth that made it so loved.

Is Dust 514 Coming in October?

Posted on September 23, 2012 by Jason Bassett

It seems as though Jack Tretton of Sony just gave away a very important video game timeline that has been part of the minds of gamers everywehre. When does Dust 514 come out? Well, Tretton was on Fox Business on Friday, September 14 and gave away a hint that we may have almost missed.

In the video (featured below) Tretton goes on to talk about the falling numbers that has hit Sony. Towards the end of his explanation, he goes on to talk about a new Free to Play title named Dust 514. He then goes on to talk more about the game and then mentions that the game will be out “next month”. Doing the math, next month will be October.

Currently, Dust 514 is in a private beta and given that more and more people are being added to the beta, this seems to be a very solid time.
