Star Wars: The Old Republic Adds Free Accounts Nov. 15th

Posted on November 9, 2012 by Les Major

Like many MMO’s lately, Star Wars: The Old Republic is adding a limited free account to the subscription based game. Some content is restricted or closed off entirely, but if you’re eager to see what The Old Republic is all about, this is a great way to give in a whirl.

Many see this as a step back but I think it’s a fantastic idea. I liked the look of SW:TOR when my MMO gaming friend got into it, but I just couldn’t justify the cost. This way you can personally get in there and see what the game has to offer and if it’s right for you. Are these the droids your looking for? Find out November 15th! Less than one week away.

FIFA 13 | Review

Posted on October 23, 2012 by Jason Nason

FIFA 13 is a solid soccer game with lots of depth and the key to playing the game is to remember the old phrase that “there is no I in team.”

While that may seem like a silly thing to say when playing a single player game the game is much more satisfying and you will have more fun playing if you let the other game controlled players on your team take part in the defending.Read More

Need For Speed Kinect Controls In Action

Posted on October 20, 2012 by Les Major

The new Need For Speed: Most Wanted is set to launch from the starting line October 30th and the latest features are looking pretty handy. I havn’t played Mass Effect 3 yet, so I can’t relate to the comparison in the video below but the new kinect additions to NFS sound like something I would use. This is what I expected from the voice controls in kinect.

Basically you’re able to bring up in game menus while racing by just using voice commands. Of course this is just an additional feature and you can do everything the usual manual way, but check out the video below. It’s actually quite neat and quicker than the usual controls.

Join Medal Of Honor: Warfighter’s Open Beta On XBL

Posted on October 5, 2012 by Seung Lee

Xbox Live owners can join the virtual fight, and download Medal of Honor: Warfighter‘s free, open beta. The beta allows you to play in a two-man squad, and contains lots of explosions and gunfire. Considering that DICE, the team behind the Battlefield franchise, is also working on Warfighter, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the visuals and sounds are fantastic as always.

If you happen to enjoy the warfighting in the beta, you’ll be able to pick up the full game on October 23. Buying Warfighter will also give you access to Battlefield 4‘s beta, ensuring that you won’t be bored for quite a while. Medal of Honor: Warfighter won’t just be deploying on the 360, it’ll also see action on the PlayStation 3 and PC. Check out the game’s official site here.

Medal of Honor Warfighter Open Beta This Weekend

Posted on October 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Still sitting on the fence about EA’s Medal of Honor Warfighter? An open Beta for Xbox Live gold members will go live tomorrow morning and last until Sunday. For Canadians, like me, this means a Thanksgiving filled with bullets, kills and certainly swearing teenagers over Xbox Live headsets.

The beta features a territories style gameplay mode called ‘Hospot’. This mode has two opposing teams rushing to secure moving control points, similar to a king of the hill match. Only one map will be playable in the beta, ‘Sarajevo Stadium’, which takes place in Bosnia.

Will you be gearing up to join the battle? The Battlefeild 3 Beta last year was a huge deal and lasted 2 weeks. I don’t really see Warfighter drumming up the same buzz.

Permanent Bans being Issued for Fifa 13 Ultimate Team Exploits

Posted on September 20, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

Fifa 13 released September 25th but already EA has their ban hammers in sight on some players. Apparently there are users who have been exploiting the FIFA 13 Ultimate Team web app, and was taken offline for maintenance to sort out the issues before bringing it back up and running. The exploit had  people gaining illegitimate access to restricted packs of football player cards such as Christiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid and Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona in their packs and then selling them for profit.Read More

Jump Back Into Battlefield 3 With The Premium Edition

Posted on September 11, 2012 by Seung Lee

Don’t let the fact that Battlefield 4 is being worked on stop you from checking out the third game. Starting today, Battlefield 3 Premium Edition will be available on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC for the cost of $59.99 (used to be 10 bucks more before EA had a change of heart, strange). Now, if you’re wondering why you should even think about picking up the Premium Edition, keep in mind that it’ll come with a membership for Battlefield Premium (it’s like Call of Duty Elite, but much better in my opinion), which’ll give you free access to a ton of expensive map packs.

In addition to the membership, Battlefield 3 Premium Edition will also come with a “Multiplayer Head-Start Kit” that automatically unlocks 15 different weapons, gadgets, and vehicle upgrades, so new players won’t have to worry about starting off with lackluster equipment. So if you haven’t tried BF3 yet, and you want to, now’s the time to do so. For more info, visit the game’s official site here.

Madden NFL 13 | Review

Posted on August 24, 2012 by Seung Lee

Just as the sun always comes up in the morning, there’s a new Madden game out every year. Back when Madden NFL 12 was released, I heard some people mutter the words, “another year, another Madden.” Admittedly, I haven’t played a Madden game in a while (in fact, the last game I played was 2005!), but this year’s edition definitely feels like it tries to break the mold that’s built up on the franchise over the years.

The Next Command & Conquer Game Will Be Free To Play

Posted on August 15, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The battle over ore and tiberium has raged on our computer screens for the past 17 years almost unabated. Even with the closure of original developer Westwood Studios in 2003 publisher Electronic Arts was able to bring the series back in true form with Command & Conquer 3 just four short years later. Can they re-invent the franchise once again after failing to resurrect the Generals sub-series?

The shift from a “premium experience” (ie. full $60 disc based games) to an all digital, free to play platform has slowly engulfed some of the PCs biggest multiplayer titles . Following the footsteps of converting Star Wars the OId Republic into a free to play title the next C&C title will also be available free of charge.Read More

Dead Space 3 Scares Up Release Date and Trailer

Posted on August 14, 2012 by Jeff Wade

Gamescom brings a brand new trailer for the upcoming Dead Space 3 that looks to assuage fears that there won’t be any scares in the game with plenty of quick cuts to hulking monsters. This notes the first time that fears have been calmed by giant dismembered beasts swaying toward you in a predatory fashion.

Dead Space 3 will hit the PC, PS3 and 360 on February 5 in the North America and February 8 in Europe. Addationally, it was announced that Dead Space 3 comes with the now requisite first run copy bonus with a limited edition that includes exclusive weapons and armor.

Register For The Sim City 5 Closed Beta

Posted on August 14, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Sim City 5‘s closed beta will begin sometime soon and EA is now ready to take applications. Head on over to the official Sim City Beta Site and you too can throw your hat in the ring as a prospective mayor.

You’ll need an origin account, also be prepared to read a few dozen pages of legalese and submit your computer specs before being considered for the beta.

Sim City 5 is due out sometime in early 2013 for PC. No word yet if Mac players will be included in the upcoming beta, sadly.

Madden 13 Demo Drops Tomorrow On XBL

Posted on August 13, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Annual football franchise, Madden, will once again consume the souls of the NFL faithful with the release of the Madden 13 demo on Xbox Live tomorrow. This brief taste of EA’s latest pig skin simulate features a matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Redskins. You can also play as the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants, if you’d rather recreate last season’s super bowl match.

Madden 13 will be released by EA on August 28th for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita. Sorry PSP/PS2 owners, no “previous generation” iteration this year!
