Parascientific Escape to be Released this Week

Posted on March 1, 2016 by Jason Nason

Circle Entertainment tweeted just yesterday that their upcoming title Parascientific Escape: Cruise in the Distant Sea will be released on the 3DS eShop this week.

The game follows Hitomi Akeneno, a 16 year old high school student with a little secret – she has not one, but two psychic powers. After receiving an invitation, she boards a luxury cruise ship with her friend, Chisono Shio. As soon as she enters a suite room, a loud explosion sounds…and she finds herself stuck, unable to get out. Is this an accident? Or something far more sinister…? The only way to find out is to escape, with the help of her powers.

While this certainly means that the adventure + escape game will be hitting North American eShops on Thursday, Circle also tagged Japanese developer Flyhigh Works in the tweet. Circle releases many Flyhigh Works titles in North America, so this could also suggest that the game could be seeing a Japanese release oN Wednesday’s Nintendo of Japan download.

Labyrinth of Wonderland Destined for North American eShop?

Posted on January 24, 2016 by Jason Nason

First came Adventure Bar Story, then came the sequel Mercenaries Saga 2. And it now looks like the third game in the series might be on the way.

Developed by Rideon, the third game in the series Labyrinth of Wonderland could be on the way. Rideon Japan opened up the website for the game today and the game is listed as releasing in Japan in February. While it’s not confirmed that the game will be making its way to North America anytime soon, it’s likely that Circle will be bringing that game here shortly.

Circle Entertainment recently tweeted that a “Japanese adventure story game” had been approved at lotcheck by Nintendo of America. They also retweeted Rideon’s tweet about the game website launching in Japan.

Circle Hints at Several New Games

Posted on January 20, 2016 by Jason Nason

Circle Entertainment confirmed and teased a few things recently via their Twitter account.

One of the first things mentioned is that a new game is on the horizen. The game, thus far untitled but referred to as a “Japanese adventure story game” has approved at lotcheck by Nintendo of America. The game is pending approval with Nintendo of Europe.

Also mentioned is a 3DS port of a game called Toy Defense. That game could be the Toy Defence game that is currently available via Google Play, though that’s not confirmed as of yet.

The last one was from a Tweet on Monday which is a little more vague. The tweet mentions the localization team being overwhelmed because of a JRPG. While there is nothing specific mentioned, this could be in reference to a game from Inside System called I Love Japanese RPG. Inside System is the developer behind the two The Legend of Dark Witch games, which Circle Entertainment released.

Could this game from Inside System be next?Read More

Petite Novel Series – Harvest December | Review

Posted on January 7, 2016 by Jason Nason

For a number of reasons this review has been challenging and for those same reasons this review will actually have to be a two-part review. The first part of the review is based on the software itself while the second part based on the story.

It’s an odd way to do the review, but hear me out.

Petit Novel series – Harvest December is a collection of 13 stories set in the small, snowy town of Tagami. Follow Masaki Konno, a teenager prone to falling into sticky situations through his last year of high school. Each month is a new story that connects and leads up to the final installment, “Perfect December”. Sometimes heartwarming, sometimes violent, sometimes comical, often mystical – for Tagami is known to be a land where a god resides…

Originally released in Japan as a serial, with one story released over the course of a year, this is the whole series in one shot. The “game” retails for $11.99 in North America and each story was ¥200 a piece. When you think about it we got a better deal on this side of the Pacific.

The Legend of Dark Witch 2 | Review

Posted on January 4, 2016 by Jason Nason

It was just over a year ago that I sat here reviewing the original The Legend of Dark Witch. I enjoyed that game and it got a pretty good review as a result. The game was simple, solid, and fun to play. You’ll find more of the same in the sequel here, with a ton more jam packed into the game.

The Legend of Dark Witch 2: The Price of Desire takes place after the events of the first game.

Syega is a miraculous stone that allows humans to use magic. Many research its powers and develop new uses. Magic helps innovation and people use it as a tool in their everyday lives. But there’s a dark wide within these new powers. Magic has become a weapon to hurt one another. People fight. Wars have began.

Germa, the great magic power in east has been collecting the best researchers in the world, creating the strongest faculty in history. Among them, team “Ich” has become notorious. “Whoever stands against Germa will be overthrown by the magic Ich creates.” Ich is now known as a force to be reckoned with, a threat to other countries

Adventure Bar Story | Review

Posted on March 8, 2015 by Jason Nason

Adventure Bar Story is an RPG set in a fantasy world in which you go on adventures with party members and manage a bar. The premise sounds somewhat odd, but the game actually plays pretty well and feels very much like a SNES era RPG.

Your bar is facing a hostile take over by a rich restaurant owner named Gustav. Gustav is a powerful man and he will try to drive you out of business and force you to sell the bar! What’s the best way to defend the take over? Become the most popular bar in town, so even Gustav can’t take over your bar.

So the game is very much go out into the world, collect recipes and ingredients, come back to your bar and make food to sell. That’s about the size of the game.

Adventure Bar Story Unfolds this Thursday

Posted on February 16, 2015 by Jason Nason

Open up your calendar because there’s another RPG set to keep you busy for awhile. CIRCLE Entertainment is prepping Adventure Bar Story for release this week, with the RPG set to debut in the Nintendo 3DS eShop this Thursday.

The game is set in a fantasy world in which you go on adventures with party members and manage a bar. Your bar is facing a hostile take over by a rich Restaurant Owner: Gustav. Gustav is a powerful man and he will try to drive you out of business and force you to sell the bar! And what is the best way to defend the take over? You just have to win the crowd and become the most popular bar in town, so even Gustav can’t touch you!

In the game you’ll collect mats to make dishes by visiting other towns and dungeons. Levels are gained in this game by eating, of all things. Raise your bar’s rank via sales at the bar and by performing well in the cooking contest held at the castle.

The game sure seems to be an interesting venture and sounds like a cool concept.

Fairune | Review

Posted on December 16, 2014 by Jason Nason

Fairune is an 8-bit looking action RPG with a very basic setup and gameplay mechanic. It’s simple to play and brings you right back to the nostalgia of the NES days, though this game is even easier to play than even the original The Legend of Zelda.

Find it too hard to press a button to swing and attack an enemy? Well don’t worry. All you have to do is run into an enemy, or have them run into you, and you’ll attack them and take damage. It actually works pretty well and makes the game a bit more quickly paced.

If you’ve played CIRCLE’s earlier game Witch & Hero you’ll know what to expect from this mechanic, and I actually like it a lot because you can focus more on getting around and less on constantly attacking the hordes of monsters which are everywhere.
