Death Stranding’s New Trailer Is All Sorts of What The $@#!

Posted on December 8, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Hideo Kojima continues his reputation for mystery and sheer WTF-ery with a brand-new trailer for Death Stranding debuted during The Game Awards. Unlike the debut E3 2016 glimpse at the game or the 2016 Game Awards trailer, this latest trailer gives us quite a few clues about possible gameplay mechanics and a few small strands of the storyline.  We now know that Norman Reedus’ character is named Sam and that his character will witness a horrific near future sci-fi disaster. Sam and his fellow team members are assaulted by an invisible enemy that can make their victims dissolve into nothingness almost instantly.  During the attack, Sam tells his teammates to stop breathing, presumably because the invisible enemies’ human dissolution powers are airborne.

Devil May Cry HD Collection Coming To PS4, Xbox & PC In March 2018

Posted on December 7, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Capcom, not content with reviving the Mega Man franchise to much fan hype and positive coverage, has announced that the Devil May Cry HD Collection will be making its way to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 13th.  This collection features up-rez’d ports of the 2001 PS2 original Devil May Cry, 2002’s Devil May Cry 2 and 2005’s Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. All three of these games have enough demon slaying, arcade-style combo action that it’ll make you hungry enough for a slice of pizza (yes, I’m making the obvious DMC 3 references now).  Greasy Pepperoni Goodness in HD!  Originally the Devil May Cry HD Collection was released on

Nier: Automata Director Yoko Taro Collaborates With Tiny Metal Developers For Promo

Posted on December 5, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Get ready for the promotional crossover you didn’t know you needed in your life – Director of Nier: Automata Yoko Taro alongside the Director / Producer of the upcoming Tiny Metal Hiroki Yura, promoting the upcoming December 21st release of Tiny Metal on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.  It is clear from the get-go that Yoko Taro didn’t play more than 5 minutes of the tutorial, as he states as much several times throughout the 2-minute video. When asked to comment about the soundtrack, Taro unabashedly admits that he couldn’t really hear it during his brief gameplay session but promises that it must be amazing. To be honest, I’m not discouraged or even criticizing Yoko Taro here,

The Blue Bomber Returns With The Announcement of Mega Man 11

Posted on December 5, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Capcom’s blue bomber will return late next year with the surprise announcement of Megan Man 11 for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Sporting a striking modern visual style that sees Mega Man with a new slimmer profile, as well as an overhaul of the overall aesthetics of the long-running franchise. Gone are the NES style retro pixel style featured in Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10. In their place is a visual style that marries the large proportion and colorful pallet of classic Mega Man games with current generation 3D graphics.  Announced during the Mega Man 30th Live-Stream, MM11 isn’t the only new title staring Dr.Light’s greatest creation coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Posted on November 30, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Destiny 2 developer Bungie canceled today’s promotional live stream for the upcoming Curse of Osiris DLC and instead addressed several of the concerns that the community has had. There’s been a lot of activity both within the Destiny 2 subreddit /r/DestinyTheGame and within the gaming enthusiast press surrounding the tacit XP throttling that Bungie was doing under the hood; as well as the subsequent doubling of XP required to level up once throttling was removed.  Regarding Experience Points  The devs admit that the newly introduced 160,000 XP requirement per level is too high to grind some activities and that Bungie are collecting data so that they can make further adjustments faster. Report: Battlefront II Will Also Have a “Starter Pack”, Includes 3 Rare Star Cards

Posted on November 13, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Right now Star Wars Battlefront II holds the dubious honors of having the most downvoted comment in Reddit history and for and kickstarting a conversation throughout gaming communities & tech press alike about the nature of progression and purchasing power within multiplayer-centric titles.  If a listing that briefly appeared on the Australian PlayStation Network is accurate this whole shit show is about to get a little messier with the accidental reveal of a “Starter Pack”. No, it’s not a free to play or price reduced entry into the game’s multiplayer – but rather Electronic Arts selling players power as they begin their epic 40-hour quest to unlock Darth

Microtransactions Outpacing Game Sales Sets a Worrying Precedent

Posted on November 9, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

You might have already heard the news yesterday: Ubisoft mentioned on their Investor’s Call that “Player Recurring Investments” (read: microtransactions) have outpaced the sale of full price and discounted digital copies of their games for the first time ever. In terms of raw numbers of the 343 million euros the company made from their digital businesses 175 million Euros were the result of “Player Recurrent Investments” (which include microtransactions, add-on DLCs, Rainbow Six Siege Season Passes, subscriptions and those sorts of things). The 83% rise in microtransaction purchases over the past year for Ubisoft could signal the tipping point where small recurring payments within the AAA games

Reminder: Horizon Zero Dawn’s Expansion DLC – The Frozen Wilds – Is Out Today

Posted on November 7, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Just a friendly reminder to all of Aloy’s fans that might read our site that the expansion DLC, Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is out today on the PlayStation Network.  The Frozen Wilds offers players a completely new winter to explore, an expansion specific main questline, several side quests, new mechanical monsters and three new weapons. For experienced players who might have completed all of the content offered in the original game, The Frozen Wilds offers a chance to learn more about the Banuk tribe outside of the single tribe encampment found within the main game.   I thoroughly enjoyed Horizon Zero Dawn when I played it through with my wife this past summer.

Meet The Latest Hero For Overwatch: Moira

Posted on November 4, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

The latest ‘Hero’ to join the ranks of Overwatch’s roster is the Tallon geneticist Moira. Clad in purples and blacks this support hero uses her scientific knowledge to heal her allies and damage her foes, sometimes simultaneously. Needless to say, her reveal came as a complete surprise, unlike last year’s Sombra reveal, Jeff Kaplan got to keep Moira’s debut a complete secret until he could unveil her to millions of fans during the BlizzCon 2017 opening ceremonies.  She has a healing beam which is she uses to restore health on her allies using her left hand. A dark energy creeps out from her right hand, dealing damage to her foes and healing her and

Destiny 2 Update 1.06 Now Live On All Platforms

Posted on November 3, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

The latest patch for Destiny 2, bringing the game up to version 1.06 is now live across all platforms – PS4, Xbox One and PC. One of the big changes included in this update is an increase in a number of Faction Points that Guardians can earn per activity completed. Strikes and Nightfalls will now dole out more Faction Tokens while Heroic Events have had their amount of Faction Tokens nerfed. Destroying enemy resources also no longer rewards Faction Tokens at all.  Crucible matches have had their win conditions adjusted, with a number of modes having the total # of points required for victory reduced.
