Assassin’s Creed III made a huge impact at last week’s E3, with appearances at Ubisoft’s own press conference as well as Sony’s big night.  No one can deny that the hype surrounding both ACIII and AC: Liberation are running high.

The folks at Jummy Kimmel Live filmed a brief one minute skit to promote the game at E3 complete with revolutionary cosplayers and the Creative Director of the game Alex Hutchinson.

It’s really neat – check it out in the embedded player below.

Death Is Not The End: The First ZombieU Gameplay

Posted on June 5, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The lead designer of the newly announced ZombieU for the Nintendo Wiiu, Gabrielle Shrager, debuted the first gameplay footage from the title this afternoon.

One of the hooks that sets the ZombieU apart from other modern horror games is that your character only has one life. Once your avatar has met its untimely demise you’ll be warped to the body of another survivor in a similar situation, so death isn’t necessarily a game over, but this is an interesting mechanic.

Once you’ve been warped into your body your task becomes to track down your former survivor. You’ll have to defeat them in order to recover your backpack, which acts as the gains inventory.

The idea of no death penalty is interesting, but Ubisoft still hasn’t outlined how exactly players will reach the end of the game. Hopefully we’ll find out more as the development of ZombieU continues. Check out the first gameplay video after the jump.

Shootmania Shown at Ubisoft Press Briefing

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Jason Bassett

In their E-Sports segment, Ubisoft unveiled Shootmania.  Their next game in the ‘mania series. Two teams were pit against each other in Elite mode, which was still in Alpha stage.

In this game, you are pitted in a maze-like arena, the game is like a Team Deathmatch style. The game is in first person view when you’re playing. Once all players are eliminated and then the rounds ends. The pace of the match is fast, you have a massive long jump that will take you to almost the middle of the map. When playing in teams, you are Team Red and Team Blue. In this game, each team had rockets to take out each other in about one shot.

You also could capture bases in the game and once a base is captured the game is over. A pretty fast paced game that will sure bring the Trackmania fans happy!

AC III Spinoff Featuring a Female Protagonist Heading To Vita?

Posted on June 2, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The next mobile entry in the Assassins Creed franchise may have been revealed in the latest Game Informer if information posted to popular gaming forum NEOGAF is correct. A member of the NEOGAF community claims to have got their hands on issue of the latest GI which features a preview for Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation for PlayStation Vita.

Supposedly the game will take place alongside Assassins Creed III and will star a young female protagonist named Aveline as she explores New Orleans. Connor from the console version of assassin’s Creed three is also said to make an appearance in Liberation. The title of the game suggests that the slave trade will play a role in the game’s plot and according to the post on NEOGAF Aveline’s mentor maybe an escaped slave.

Hopefully the rumors surrounding Liberation end up being true. We will find out more during either Ubisoft’s or Sony’s press comments on Monday.

Ubisoft Titles On Sale All Weekend On Steam

Posted on May 19, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ubisoft’s vast PC library will be up for sale during various points this weekend thanks to Steam. Every day this weekend Ubisoft will be featuring a different franchise, with each game in that respective franchise a whopping 50 – 75% off. If you can deal with “always on” DRM, then this might be the time to jump into the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry or Rayman franchises. If the particular game you’re looking for isn’t heavily discounted Valve has slashed all Ubisoft published games by 33% for the weekend as well.

Today’s deal has you occupying the shoes of Demond as he relives the genetic memories of his ancestors. Here’s the rundown of all of the Assassin’s Creed savings:

Assassin’s Creed 1 – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed 2 – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed Revelations – $19.99

It’s too bad I missed yesterday’s deal on the Tom Clancy’s games. I am missing a few of the Ghost Recon games from my collection.

Posted on May 18, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Far Cry 3 left a pretty big impression on me when I saw it running at last year’s Ubisoft Press Conference at E3. It looks like everyone will be able to get their hands on the game later this summer on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

The multiplayer beta allows up to 16 players to compete in several modes including Deathmatch and the Firestorm mode, a mode based around the game’s fire physics. Ubisoft promises six playable classes will be available in the beta along with dozens of weapons.

There are multiple ways for you to enter the beta. Check them out after the jump.Read More

Posted on May 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Have you been looking for a mobile platforming fix? Ubisoft has released a demo version of Rayman Origins on the 3DS E-Shop. This demo doesn’t skimp on the content either, offering prospective owners 3 full levels from the final game including Swinging Caves, Playing in the Shade and Shooting Me Softly.

The console version of Origins was a critical success and regarded as one of the best Rayman games to date. The 3DS version expands upon what made last year’s console release so great with Street Pass functionality and in game collectables.

The full version of Rayman Origins for the Nintendo 3DS will be released on June 5th at a suggested price of $29.99.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier Goes Gold

Posted on May 3, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ghost Recon Future Soldier the long in development six entry in the Ghost Recon franchise has gone gold according to Ubisoft. This third person shooter imagines a near-future world where next generation soldiers make use of technologies like active camo, special camouflage that decreases the subjects visibility to the enemy.

Other improvements to the series formula include the substitution  of squad micromanagement with the ability to paint targets and have your squad mates engage them. After nearly 3 years in development eager Tom Clancy fans will be able to get their hands on Future Soldier on May 22nd.

Check out the full press release after the jump.Read More

Rayman Legends Boasts Exclusive Wii-U Functionality

Posted on April 27, 2012 by Jesse Lord

First things first.  If you haven’t gotten your grubby mitts on Rayman Origins, spectacular game that it is, go do that.  Right now.  I’ll wait.

Done?  Great.  Ok, so there has been a rumbling that Ubisoft is working on a follow-up to that refreshing platformer, and the news has broken by way of a leaked trailer for Rayman Legends, which you will see embedded below the jump.  This in and of itself is great news – unfortunately Rayman Origins, while generally criticallyacclaimed across platforms, did not see spectacular sales and therefore the likelihood of a sequel seemed to be but a far-away dream.  Thankfully Ubisoft were unfazed by the sluggish sales and took to the development of a sequel anyways. Thanks, Ubi!

Trials Evolution | Review

Posted on April 24, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

How many of us have had that “just one more” experience from a game? Just about any loot drop game sorta drives those feelings, finding yourself up at ungodly hours just trying to find that one piece to complete your gear. This game hits that button very hard, as you make your way though the single player levels you’ll find you just end up blowing though level after level, wanting to finish the next tick in the box, to reach the next test or unlock the next tier of races. Until you slam into the wall of skill that the game needs from you.Read More

Rayman Origins 2 Spotted In Online Survey

Posted on April 24, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

A sequel to last Novembers critical success Rayman Origins may be in the work over at Ubisoft. We know about this potential sequel well before a possible E3 2012 reveal thanks to an online survey the publisher may have commissioned.

Arkenford, an online marketing firm, included a few different screenshots of the rumored Rayman sequel alongside some details surrounding Rayman Origin 2‘s gameplay. The game will supposedly include all of what made the original game great (excellent 2D art and 4 play co-op) as well as new settlings featuring vampires, dragons and gods.

We’ve got three of the screenshots from Ubisoft’s marketing survey after the jump. Hopefully Ubisoft will reveal the game before E3. The original Rayman Origins was a big part of their 2011 press conference.
