When he found out the bad things that were happening with his research, he decides to go out on his own to try to stop the threat. Steam: Big Picture Goes Public Beta

Posted on September 10, 2012 by Jason Bassett

You know that thing that Valve has been tinkering with? They call it Big Picture and it has just went into Beta. What is Big Picture?  Big Picture is just a small step in a big trend as Valve comes into the console race. Think of Big Picture as the software or Operating System to the hardware. While Valve has finally confirmed that they are indeed in the hardware race, Big Picture will let your TV get a lot more than just playing your Xbox.

As an example, let’s say you have a small multimedia PC that you use for games on Steam. Now, let’s say you take that PC and plug it into your TV via HDMI. Launch Steam and then launch Big Picture and you will then have the console experience right within Steam and right in a PC ready controller.

Watch Other People Play DOTA 2 Today

Posted on August 21, 2012 by Seung Lee

Anyone who uses Steam can now download and install a free app for DOTA 2 that allows for spectating other players. How does it work, you may ask? Well, you can watch a match from a player’s perspective, or from a directed view. You can check out any recent or live matches, along with all of the future matches at The International tournament. Is this app mandatory in order to continue playing DOTA 2? Nope, but it’ll be added into the game when it officially releases.

I’m personally not a big fan of DOTA, but I know there’s a lot of people out there who do. If you’re wondering how you can improve your skills, then you may wanna check out a match or two from some pros.

DOTA 2 is set to release sometime this year on Steam, with a free-to-play business model. Check out the game’s official website here.

Mann VS Machine Update Launches On TF2

Posted on August 16, 2012 by Les Major

Released on August 15th, Team Fortress 2 now has a co-op mode allowing players to take on waves of robots! With at least one new map and new achievements, the added mode features robots based on the games classes. At the end of each wave you’ll be able to upgrade your character’s abilities and weapons.

Team Fortress 2 is Valves hit classic that is now even free to play on Steam! Released in 2007 it still holds true to being a fan favourite. I’ve seen lots of cosplayers giving the different classes a go, lets see how many of the robotic versions make the convention scene now!

Grind To Infinity With Cladun X2 On Steam

Posted on August 14, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

NIS America’s latest digital release, Cladun X2, has found its way on to Steam. In Caldun you take on the role of wandering adventurer trapped in a world the size of pocket. Just because the landscape is small, doesn’t mean that Caldun doesn’t bring a full sized fun factor with three different type of dungeons, the ability to grind your character into infinity (literally) and much more.

There’s probably no better way to spend the last dog days of summer than grinding away all day and night. Sure, that’s probably not plausible for the majority of us, but the charming 16-bit inspired art style should draw in the most jaded old school RPG fanatic.

Check out screenshots after the jump. The game is available on PC for $19.99 USD!Read More

Indie Gala Seven Begins

Posted on July 30, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

Indie Gala has just launched its seventh “pay what you want” game bundle. If you purchase a copy of this bundle, you can choose how to split up your money between the developers, two charities, and Indie Gala. The charities you may donate to in this bundle are the Italian Red Cross (to help in efforts in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy that suffered from a series of earthquakes in May) and AbleGamers, which works to help make video games more accessible for disabled people.

They’ve got a couple of great games in this bundle (each of which will come with a Steam key). People who pay less than the average price (which is about $7.00) will receive Rig’n’Roll, Space Rangers, Reign: Conflict of Nations, and a mystery game. People who pay more that the average will also receive Death to Spies, Death to Spies: Moment of Truth, King’s Bounty: Armored Princess, UFO: Afterlight and another mystery game.

I personally think that King’s Bounty: Armored princess alone is worth over $7.00.

If any of this sounds interesting to you then check out the bundle here. It will be running for another 13 days, so you can afford to tarry a little bit.

Hard Reset Extended Review

Posted on July 29, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

Well, let’s start by saying that if you enjoy PC FPS games you have already heard of Hard Reset, as the game came out last year and had a few good weeks of buzz around it then, we are reviewing the just released extended version.
Not to be overly reductive but, the game feels and looks like the Die Hard sequel to Blade Runner. Jump around in a futuristic super city, fighting what appear to be A.I. driven robots, that are trying to control our database of human minds… Wait a second…Read More

Resonance Review

Posted on July 26, 2012 by Seung Lee

Resonance

I’m indifferent, actually, towards point-and-click adventure games and visual novels. But, if it has a great story, likable characters, and lots of humor, I’ll at least try it. That being said, Resonance has to be one of the best point-and-click games I’ve ever played. It ranks up there with the Ace Attorney series (my favorite video game series), Monkey Island series, and Sam & Max series.

Resonance has you playing as four main characters: Tolstoy “Ed” Eddings, Anna Castellanos, Raymond Abbot, and Officer Winston Bennet. Ed is a mathematician who works for a physicist named Dr. Javier Morales. He struggles to make ends meet, and he seems to have the strength of an ant. Anna is a doctor and daughter of Morales, Ed’s boss. She has frequent dreams (more like nightmares) throughout the game where she’s a child running away from a monster. Raymond (Ray for short) is an established journalist who’s looking for a big scoop. Officer Bennet is a cop who’s not afraid to break some rules in order to find the truth.
