Mass Effect Invades Dead Space 3

Posted on January 22, 2013 by Joshua Rust

One of the benefits of big companies is the potential for cross promotion within their owned franchises. Dead Space and Mass Effect have joined up to bring you a set of N7 Armor to Dead Space 3.

So what’s the catch?

Nothing really, the only thing you need are:

1) Play Mass Effect 3 and have a save file

2) Purchase and play the full game for Dead Space 3

3) Unlock your awesome N7 Armor

Electronic Arts and Visceral Games were nice enough to drop a trailer showing off the N7 Armor, so check it out!

The 2012 Top Five

Posted on January 15, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

Editor’s note: Staff at Broken Joysticks will be sharing their top five games, or game related stories, from 2012 throughout the week. We’re continuing the feature with the top five from our editor, kashhoward.

For me, 2012 was a year with many games I anticipated releasing to great success, and some falling short due to various choices. Since I’m always playing fighters, it’s less common for me to purchase the newest games. While I had to omit some games that I never got to play from my list, here are my top five games of 2012.

Mass Effect 3: Omega – Biggest Expansion In Franchise History

Posted on October 13, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Boasting to be the franchises’ biggest DLC yet, did Bioware. Stating that this DLC is “twice the size of any previous released DLC.” Instead of playing Shepard in Omega, you get to take control of Aria as she hunts down operatives of Cerberus.

From the Bioware Blog:

Soldiers of the Milky Way,

Disturbing reports from the Citadel suggest that something big is about to go down. If our Intel is accurate, Aria is on the move. This was anticipated, as we did not expect her to sit idly by while Cerberus ran roughshod over Omega. With her biotic capabilities and well-documented mean streak, what happens next won’t be pretty.

Our informants believe that Aria intends to seek out Commander Shepard for assistance. We are aware of the Commander’s ties to Aria, but are unclear about how deep they run. What we do know is that Aria will be relentless in her fight to take back Omega, and with the Commander at her side, she may very well be unstoppable.

We will be observing this situation closely as it develops. Continue to monitor this channel for further communication.

A timed exclusive for the Xbox 360, you can get Mass Effect 3: Omega on November 27th, for 1200 MSP. Hopefully it won’t become this kind of “timed exclusive.”

EA/Bioware Launches Mass Effect 3 Portal N7 HQ

Posted on October 12, 2012 by Joshua Rust

So, what exactly is this Mass Effect 3 Portal N7 HQ? Think of Battlefield’s Battlelog, only less Battlefield and more Mass Effect!

You can find the newly launched N7 HQ website by clicking here.  This portal will track all of your hours played, matches played, challenges completed, etc, etc. Also you can check where you are ranked on the leaderboards. As well as checking up on your friends (or enemies) and see where they stack up too! Not to mention to see how they are leveling up their characters!

It seems that EA/Bioware has gone all out for Mass Effect 3, which is a good thing. It’s good to see them contining to support the title in different ways. Whether by launching a stat tracking site or adding new multiplayer maps every so often.

What do you all think about this new site?

Mass Effect 3 Gets A Massive Multiplayer Expansion

Posted on October 4, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Just when you thought the universe couldn’t get any bigger in Mass Effect 3, Bioware/EA comes out of nowhere and announces a new multiplayer expansion (called Mass Effect 3: Retaliation) that lands on October 9th.

But what is included in this, the biggest multiplayer expansion yet, you may ask? Well, there are 6 new maps, 16 new characters, new enemy type: The Collectors, new weapons to collect, new “challenge” feature, and each map will receive “environmental hazards” to make things a little tougher.

It appears that every other weekend Bioware puts out one of these weekend events. This weekend is one of those weekends as Operation Vigilance gets ready to commence tomorrow – Friday September 7th. Here are the details for Operation Vigilance:

Squad Goal: Complete up to and including wave 10 on any difficulty without using a consumable (medi-gel, ammo, Ops pack or Cobra missile launcher).

Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack

Mass Effect 3 Leviathan Trailer

Posted on August 24, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Mass Effect is probably one of my favorite franchises of all time. Although the ending has created a huge uproar, that’s not stopping Bioware from adding on the the game. Mass Effect 3 “Leviathan” DLC will be hitting marketplaces next week!

I’m curious to see how Bioware expands upon this universe in the next game. Given, it won’t have to do with Shepard – but that just means the possibilites are endless.

Here is the launch trailer for Leviathan:

Mass Effect 3 “The Leviathan” DLC will be available on Tuesday August 28th on Xbox Live Marketplace for 8o0 MSP. Will you be purchasing this or has the Normandy sailed for you with this game?

Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut Release Date Announced

Posted on June 22, 2012 by Jason Bassett

Have you been clamoring for a more extended ending Commander Shepard’s perilous story? Well you will be getting your chance to see the whole story on June 26, 2012. Players will be once again immersed in the story that pits Command Shepard in a heated battle against the Illusive Man and the Reapers and now Shepard’s story will finally get it’s fitting end.

The Mass Effect 3 ending controversy has strung up a high debate on whether or not the Indoctrinate theory is correct or if another puzzle is left to be solved. Whatever the case may be, we will all know how Shepard’s story will end on Jun 26, 2012!
