Avengers Battle For Earth Is a Who’s Who of Comic Book Legends

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Up until now little was known about Marvel’s Battle For Earth aside from the fact that the game would feature popular characters like Thor, Iron man and the Hulk. The game’s first debut trailer hit during Ubisoft’s press conference and it features none of those characters initially.

The game looks to be a who’s who when it comes to Marvel’s comic book properties. The trailer opens with Wolverine fighting Venom in the city streets of New York and before long they’re joined by Magneto ( who is seen hurling police cars) and Spider-man. As the camera pulls back an alien invasion similar to the one featured in the film is prominent in the background. Iron Man, Captain America and Thor stand tall on the roof of a skyscraper overlooking this destruction.

We know very little about the actual gameplay but it looks like Ubisoft is drawing from Marvel’s rich comic book history rather than the feature films. The advantage to this is that they can use characters like Spider-Man and Mangnetto, whose film right are owned by Sony and Fox respectively.

Check out several screen grabs after the jump.Read More

Rayman: Legends Wii U Shown at E3

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Jason Bassett

If you wanted your Wii U news,  well now you’ve got it! Rayman: Legends for the Wii was shown today and boy does it look fun. Using the Wii U Gamepad, you can control a new helper buddy named Murphy. You can do cool moves cooperatively. The colors of the game are bright and adventures. In the Wii U version, you can use the original Wii controllers as well. The game also supports the Wii U Controller Pro.

Asynchronous gameplay was also shown where Rayman and Murphy team up and a wasteland to collect a bunch of colorful rabbids. What made this even coolers is that there is an excellent (okay, kinda cool) guitar riff as you collect these rabbids. Tons of platforming elements are shown as well with falling boulders. You will also descend to also to get to other platforms.

Rayman: Legends for the Wii-U is shaping up to be one of the best games to be on the next system from Nintendo.

Far Cry 3 will Pump You Up!

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Jason Bassett

Ever wanted to be the leader of your own tribe? Well, in Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3, that is exactly what you will be doing. The demo starts while you’re seductively tranced by a mistress wearing…not all that much. You then, are then swimming to get to your destination. As your walking through the jungle, you take out a baddie with the a  knife. You’re doing all of this stealthy-like. You finally make it to an abandoned shack. There you see some screens with a mad man screaming out you.

The gameplay then gets fast and furious. You’re in a huge battle with a bunch of baddies with guns. You take a guy out with your gun and stab a few more along the way. Then a guy with a flamethrower is intimidates you. After dealing with the baddie, you scream out looking for someone. After getting stabbed with an item, you begin to hallucinate.

You’ll be able to do a lot whole more when game comes out!

Build Your Own Metropolis With Sim City 5 and Sim City Social

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Electronic Arts promises that the SimCity franchise will “reclaim the city building crown” with the release of SimCity five and SimCity Social for Facebook.

The SimCity 5 demo highlighted the brand-new engine the developed for the title, called the Glass Engine. For the first time ever the SimCity franchise is taken into the multiplayer space with challenges and online play. You’ll be able to play against friends or take on players in your region. Decisions that you make will affect not only your city but those around you.

The SimCity 5 engine looks promising, with detailed buildings that seemed to almost construct themselves and individual cars that drive along your cities’ streets. the second trailer even hinted at some of the disasters that we may see in the game including a T Rex attack, surprisingly there was a subtle reference to 1996’s Sim Copter with the inclusion of a helicopter as the logo zooms out.

Details surrounding SimCity Social were scant, the brief trailer showcased traditional two-dimensional artwork reminiscent of the earlier sin city games. The trailer even took jabs at Zyngas city bill promising that SimCity social will be “less ville & more city”.Read More

Toy Soldiers Dev’s Next Game: Ascend New Gods

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The developers behind the Toy Soldiers franchise revealed a brand-new game at Microsoft’s E3 press conference. Titled Ascend: The New Gods the trailer shows a series of large creatures battling each other, each new creature is larger than the last! It actually starts out with an human archer climbing the back of a large creature, before getting even more intense.

The sense of scale and the ability to climb up the backs of large creatures brings to mind 2005’s Shadow of the Colossus. Aside from hack and slash gameplay and seemingly mature direction not much is known about the game.

The game will be released sometime in 2013, presumably the game is an Xbox live arcade title. Check out screen grabs after the jump.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Unveiled

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Matthew Regier

The unveiling of Splintercell Blacklist shows our favorite covert operative showing a strangely Solid Snake style uniform along the Iraqi border working to stop a blacklist attack. The game play appears to be a mix of the advances made in Splinter Cell: Conviction mixed in with an action movie styled cinematic execution system where you can hold enemies hostage and slow down time to pick off surrounding targets in the vicinity for clean and smooth game play. The section of the game shown was one of the early missions with Sam infiltrating an enemy base along the border of Iraq, in which the new gameplay has been shown off. Advancing in the smoothness of combat creating a mix between stealth and action. Sam’s movement has become even more acrobatic since the last title to be released, giving Mr. Fischer an almost Nathan Drake feel.

Halo 4 Campaign Demo Impressions

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The world premiere of Halo 4’s campaign took place during the opening moments of the Microsoft E3 Press Conference. In the demo we learn that the UNSC Infinity, the setting for Halo 4’s multiplayer, was dragged through a portal potentially killing members of the crew. The campaign demo opens with the infinity crashing to the ground as Master Chief readies himself he must follow what is presumably a forerunner ship.

Cortana is now placed right on the player’s hud to the left of the screen, rather than being an disembodied voice. From a design perspective this feels liek a great choice by 343i. Master Chief’s first emeny encounter also ends in a surprising way, as he is being charged by a Covenant elite and grunt, the elite is vaporized instantly. Master chieft is attacked by several mysterious enemies, who glow an odd orange color, similar in design to the imulsion infused enemies from last year’s Gears of War 3.Read More
