Sekai Project, a publisher and licenser of Japanese new media and electronic entertainment, in partnership with Winged Cloud, has announced that it is releasing  Sakura Dungeon is now available on Steam and Denpasoft for Windows PC, Mac, and Linux. If you are a fan of dungeon crawlers or cute girls, or well both, this is a game you are going to want to pick up.

Sakura Dungeon is a first-person dungeon crawling RPG set in a fantasy world where monsters and humans have been at war with one another for generations. However, a new battle is brewing. In this story players will assume the role of Yomi, an ancient fox spirit who awakens after several hundred years of deep sleep to find that possession of her lovingly made dungeon has been taken from her! As if that wasn’t enough cause for alarm, Yomi has also been robbed of her power, leaving her weak and vulnerable. She soon discovers that it was the heroic knight, Ceri, who dared to wake her from her slumber, and after a brief fight and “negotiation,” Ceri decides to join her on an adventure to reclaim the dungeon!

Together, they will unearth great treasures, reveal secrets and hidden rooms, and recruit monster girls to fight by their side…all while avoiding traps, fighting off dangerous enemies and bosses across multiple floors, and uncovering the devious plans of the new dungeon lord. One of the most important mechanics of Sakura Dungeon is the ‘capture’ mechanic, wherein the player will be able to capture monster girls they encounter and add them to their party. In addition to dungeon exploring, Sakura Dungeon is also packed with extensive dialogue and plenty of gorgeous backdrops and cutscene artwork for the player to unlock as they carefully navigate their way through the dungeon.

Sakura Dungeon is now available on Steam for $19.99 with a 10% off discount for the first week. So go check it out! You can also get the unedited version on Denpasoft .

Loot Crate Anime re-branded as Loot crate anime x Crunchyroll

Posted on May 7, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Loot Crate brings some of the best geeky nerdy gamer gear to the table already with their subscription boxes, and now anime fans are going to be able to get in on the action. Crunchyroll is of course the best source for streaming anime on the internet, and one of our favorite partners (try a 15 day free trial on us!) This is practically a match made in heaven as it will grant much greater access to the folks from loot crate to Crunchyrolls extensive network of Japanese contacts for licensing.

The first crate to feature this match made in heaven will be themed as “UNITY”. Loot Crate says that “the new partnership will bring increased access to licensors, discounts for Crunchyroll premium members, and Crunchyroll branded items to the new box. I recently did an unboxing of my first ever Loot Crate Anime and I could have been happier with the variety of quality of the included items.  Now lets take a look at what Loot Crate says will come with this new subscription and what benefits you will get if you already subscribe.

Loot Crate Anime x Crunchy

A match made in heaven, I think so just look how pretty the box is!

  • All Crunchyroll Premium subscribers will now receive an additional $5 monthly discount on their Loot Anime subscription. This discount is available to both new and existing Loot Anime subscribers. For 3-, 6- and 12-month Loot Anime x Crunchyroll subscriptions, the discount will be an additional $10, $20 and $40 respectively.

  • Loot Anime will have early access to Crunchyroll’s content schedule, anime licensing expertise and relationships in Japan to ensure the merchandise inside the crate features the hottest anime on Crunchyroll.

  • The Loot Anime crate will now include Crunchyroll branding and colors.  In addition, this month’s theme of Unity contains exclusive artwork featuring Crunchyroll’s Hime Chan and Loot Anime’s main character as well (whose name has yet to be revealed!)

Those are some pretty awesome benefits, I love Crunchyrolls cute orange themed mascot (dubbed by Crunchyroll as Hime Chan) and would love to see more of her on soft goods like hats and socks. I am eager to receive my first month’s box and see what’s inside. So far we know the crate will feature Crunchyroll’s Hime Chan and Loot Anime’s monthly theme mascot (whom has no name yet). The Unity crate will celebrate characters coming together to achieve greatness and will feature four exclusive from the following franchises: “The Boy and the Beast,” “Dragonball Z,” “Fullmetal Alchemist” and “Yo-Kai Watch.” Additionally the box will be rebranded as Loot Crate anime x Crunchyroll and items (and im guessing the box) will feature both Hime Chan, and the unnamed box mascot.

Existing Loot Anime members will not need to change anything and will still get their crates just like normal. The first Loot Anime x Crunchyroll crate is on sale today and offers exciting and new member benefits to Loot Anime and Crunchyroll premium subscribers: 5$ off of their loot crate! For 3, 6 and 12 month Loot Anime x Crunchyroll subscriptions, the discount will be an additional $10, $20 and $40 respectively.  It’s a pretty great vale with each crate being valued at about $60USD, and if you are a fan of anime who maybe can’t make it to conventions to get merch, or just wants to collect cool things like funco pops, and T-shirts that no one else can get, this new marriage of Loot Crate and Crunchyroll is for you.

Root Double -Before Crime * After Days-. Review! VN GO!

Posted on May 2, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

A  VN Review by: Szko

Trapped in an underground facility with no exit, in a race against time as radiation levels threaten to kill you, and far too many people to save. This is the premise of Root Double -Before Crime * After Days-.

Root Double is a Visual Novel created by Regista and Yeti and released in Japan back in 2012. Thanks to Sekai Project the Xtend Edition of the game received a worldwide re-release in 2016. For those that don’t know a Visual Novel or VN is basically a book with pictures. Text appears on the screen and you either click the mouse or hit the enter button until it goes away. If you actually want to enjoy the game you’re going to have to read it though as that is where the content resides. The bulk of the gameplay for a visual novel consists of hitting the enter button. However, a lot of visual novels have a system where there are multiple routes or possible stories and story endings. It is like a choose your own adventure book you occasionally are given a choice to make which affects the outcome of the story if you get a bad end or a good end.

Steam is having a massive sale on Anime games this weekend

Posted on April 29, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

So anyone who is recently reading the site knows I am a huge anime fan, I recently unboxed an anime lootcrate, I shared with you my current watch list for this season, and now I may have died and gone to heaven, because Steam is  having a sale on anime games. Steep discounts are being offered on everything from the well known Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm series all the way to the series of Hyperdimension Neptunia games and nearly everything in between.

If you are a fan of anime at all, this sale is going to empty your wallet. Even if you are just a fan of anime style fighting games you may be in trouble as all of the guilty gear and Blaze Blue games are also on sale! It seems like steam has really pulled out all of the stop on their anime collection. The discounts are a bit all over though, 10% on Helen’s Mysterious Castle doesnt really feel like its as good of a deal as 75% off of Chantelise. I could nitpick a whole bunch including how some of these games aren’t really anime but I am just glad to see steam featuring anything developed out side of the west.

Here is the full list if you really want it highlights include  Hatoful Boyfriend for $2.49, Transformers: Devastation for $24.99 and the Mega Man Legacy Collection for $10. But if you are anything like me, that is a giant anime nerd, you probably already own at least a few of these, and the rest may be sitting on your wish list. Interestingly, also included in the sale are several Naruto movies, and as far as i can tell only Naruto movies. I didn’t even know that steam sold movies, I guess I know now.

Star Fox Zero The Anime? You Can Check It Out Right Here

Posted on April 23, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Star Fox Zero

Nintendo recently released a 14 minute anime short to help promote yesterday’s launch for Star Fox Zero for the Wii U. Serving as an introduction to the major characters – Fox, Peppy, Slippy, Falco and General Pepper – it doesn’t exactly shed any new light on the Star Fox universe but it is still quite the treat for long time fans.

Like the game, the aesthetic of “The Battle Begins is very reminicint of Star Fox 64 and it can be quite amusing to see some of the long running anime tropes make their way into the Star Fox formula. Also if you happen to remember the introduction cinematic for SF64 look for a visual shoutout to that game about half way through this episode.

Production IG, famous for their work on Ghost In The Shell / The End of Evangelion & others handled the animation for “The Battle Begins”.

Posted on March 31, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Watch the first episodes of any of these anime with a 15 day free trial to Crunchyroll!

Crunchyroll is always killing it by bringing you new and fresh anime to watch all year round, but at least for me Spring is always a special season. So its no surprise to me that Crunchroll has brought their A game.

First announced this year is MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN RE:0096 it is premiering Saturdays, starting April 2nd @ 3:30PM PST.  An adaptation of the long running Unicorn Gundam series of OVA’s, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN RE:0096 is one anime I am extremely excited for this season.

gundam

So far the official description from Bandai reads: Going back to the Universal Century(UC) the show takes place U.C. 0096 three years after Chars rebellion. On the surface, it appears that tranquility has returned to a world which has been troubled by conflict ever since the One Year War. Banagher Links, a boy living at the manufacturing colony Industrial 7, meets a mysterious girl who calls herself Audrey Burne. Audrey has taken independent action to stop the Vist Foundation from handing over Laplace’s Box to the Neo Zeon remnants known as the Sleeves, and Banagher decides to help her. But the colony becomes a battlefield as fighting breaks out between the Sleeves and the Earth Federation Forces, who have also come to prevent the handover. As Banagher runs through the battle in search of Audrey, he has a fateful encounter with a white mobile suit, the Unicorn Gundam, which is the key to Laplace’s Box.

Upcoming Dragon Ball RPG for 3DS, Dragon Ball: Project Fusion

Posted on January 18, 2016 by Broken Joysticks

Some news from 2chan.net , a popular Japanese image board, there seems to be a new Dragon Ball 3DS RPG on the horizon!
Namely Dragon Ball:Project Fusion. The images show Broly and Goku at the end pose of a fusion dance, so where this could go is anyone’s guess.
As far as I can tell the main focus of the game will of course be on various fusions, likely one’s we’ve yet to see.

Honestly, it looks pretty cool. Dragon Ball fans are certainly no stranger to Dragon Ball “what if” stories, and this will probably be no different.
There’s not a whole lot that has been leaked as of yet. They did detail on 2016 release in Japan. No information yet as to the price.

One Punch Man: A little bit of this and that make a great anime

Posted on January 15, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Where do I start? One Punch Man is not your typical anime, it’s not about school girls, it’s not about a group of friends overcoming ever more difficult challenges, and it’s not about training or getting better. One Punch Man is what happens after the training. It’s primarily a comedy anime, but it also has some of the best choreographed amazing hand to hand combat I have ever seen.  If you took the non-stop, heavy hitting, terrain destroying, combat from the later DBZ arcs, and injected it in to the funny slice of life type of comedy that was featured in The Devil is a Part Timer, you might start to get close to this shows vibe. One Punch Man Is anime that doesn’t take it self seriously, and I think part of this can be attributed to how it came to be. It was first created as a webcomic then serialized to Shoen Jump, and finally adapted this year to an anime. One Punch Man spends its time alternating between setting up extremely powerful villains which Saitama (the shows protagonist) defeats with one punch, and chronicling the difficulty of living on a small income in a rundown apartment. This creates this hilarious dynamic where several other “professional heroes” will try to fight a monster and be defeated and Saitama who is “just a hero for fun” will show up punch the monster once, and in a fantastic fountain of gore defeat them.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Anime Due Out In 2016

Posted on July 17, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

SEGA of Japan has announced an animated adaptation of its popular Japanese free-to-play MMORPG Phantasy Star Online. The anew anime titled Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation will debut sometime in 2016 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the original PSO on the Dreamcast and will take place on a near future presumably before the events of the game.

The Windows PC version of Phantasy Star Online 2 was released in Japan in 2012 with a PlayStation Vita version following in 2013 and an Android version for Smart Phones and tablets last year. A localized English version of PSO2 went live in southern Asia last March and there has been little word on a North American or European release outside of vague omissions by Sega America that the game has been delayed.

You can check out the website for Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation here.

Set Your Feels To Nostalgia Because Digimon Is Coming Back

Posted on May 6, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

If you grew up in the 90s then prepare to be overwhelmed with feelings of nostalgia because it has been announced that the Digimon franchise will be returning not as a 26 episode anime series but a six part movie series with the first film titled ‘Reunion’ due out on November 21st in Japan.

For those not old enough to remember Digimon was a popular virtual pet / monster battle handheld popular in the late 90s that also had its own anime series. The anime was localized by Fox Kids and ran in North America from March 1999 until March 2003.

Alongside the news that Digimon would be returning later this year a brief teaser trailer was also released. It gives you a good look at how the character designs for the original digi-destined have changed since we last saw them.

So which is better – Pokemon or Digimon? Get ready to relive some of the greatest schoolyard arguments of the 1990s.
