Pokémon Sun / Pokémon Moon | REVIEW

Posted on January 7, 2017 by Jason Nason

Before Nintendo officially announced Sun and Moon I made a list of predictions of what I expected Nintendo would announce this year. Atop that list was another Pokémon game but it wasn’t a brand new game that I had predicted. As with tradition I thought that we would surely be getting Pokémon Z, a third game companion to X & Y. Third games have become a tradition after the first pair of games. Well I was wrong and we didn’t get Z; we got something even better. Overall Nintendo didn’t reinvent the wheel with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Things

Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 5: City of Light | Review

Posted on January 4, 2017 by Meghan Kass

So, here it is, the finale to Telltales adaptation of Batman. This first attempt by Telltale at telling Batman’s story has come to an end and the question now becomes “did it end with a bang or was it a dud?”. While this may not have been Telltale’s strongest project, there was a lot of enjoyable moments that Telltale brought and interesting ideas that gave a unique look at the characters we all know and love. The final episode, while it may have its flaws, does tie up many loose ends and leaves great anticipation for a second season. This

The Last Guardian | Review

Posted on December 30, 2016 by Meghan Kass

At long last, The Last Guardian has arrived at us after a long, patient wait. This game – brought to us by genDESIGN and SCI Japan Studio has faced many challenges in getting to the public, but thanks to the consultation of members of Team Ico, even after leaving Sony, the game that was assumed to never be reaching store shelves has become a reality. As a fan of Team Ico’s work, I was highly excited for this game and even counted down the days until I could play it. I braced myself for the artistic beauty, heart-wrenching story and

Exile’s End | REVIEW

Posted on December 18, 2016 by Jason Nason

The Metroidvania style of game is one that many people have fond memories of, especially if you grew up in the days of the original Metroid and Caslevania games (where the genre name comes from) on the original NES. They were notorious for their immersive gameplay, huge environments, and very little room for error. Healing items were sparse, you had to defeat enemies in order to get “drops” of items, and there was always the sense of fear for your life. That style of gameplay and experience is emulated well in Exile’s End which is a great homage to the

COD Modern Warfare Remastered Review | A Classic Reborn

Posted on December 16, 2016 by Erika

While I cut my teeth on the Call of Duty series with Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has held a special place in my heart since I started playing it back in 2010. Six years later, and numerous iterations of the series afterward, Modern Warfare Remastered brings back all those fun memories thanks to Raven Software and Infinity Ward’s efforts. It’s one hell of an experience and it’s a breath of fresh air with boots-on-ground combat when compared to faced paced future or near-future combat they’ve released recently. Single Player For people that haven’t played the

Batman: The Telltale Series- Episode 4: Guardian of Gotham | REVIEW

Posted on December 11, 2016 by Meghan Kass

Batman continues its adventure with episode 4, titled Guardian of Gotham. Telltale has made some impressive and creative choices with their interpretation of Batman and its iconic characters and while this episode may not have the twists and turns of previous episodes, it still continues to intrigue and engage despite some technical setbacks. With a new game mechanic, new character added to the mix and the story being brought closer to its conclusion, can this episode lead up to a promising end for this story? Can this episode deliver another chilling chapter for the Batman? Let’s take a closer look.

Diner Duo | REVIEW

Posted on December 5, 2016 by Meghan Kass

So far, in it’s short existence, the Vive has had an interesting selection of games. These games range from literally nauseating to impressive, but most have the feeling as a tech demo at this point. Many Vive games have a lot of style and gimmicks, but lack in actual gameplay or even fun for a stretch of times. While the horror genre and arcade style games have shown us some virtual reality gems, what are other some other types of games that are worth the time and money that the Vive or, any VR system require? One of the more

The Sandbox Evolution | REVIEW

Posted on November 30, 2016 by Les Major

In a good way, The Sandbox Evolution feels like a PC port of a mobile game inspired by Scribblenauts. Then on top of that there’s also pixel art creation and interesting thermodynamic gameplay. Much of this is covered in short campaigns that teach you the games mechanics so you can dive in and make your own creations. There are two modes to the game. A creation mode that allows you to zoom around, dropping elements like their hot (or cold, or rocky), and a character mode that lets you run around as a mix of different heroes. From a Ninja

Call of Duty Infinite Warfare Multiplayer Review

Posted on November 23, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Call of Duty Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer will feel very similar to series veterans that find themselves purchasing the yearly editions of the military shooter, like I have. This is because Infinity Ward’s latest entry in the series does very little to differentiate itself in terms of core game design from last year’s Black Ops III. Rather then continue to innovate or tweak the existing formula ever so slightly towards a more arcadey / MOBA-esque feature set like Black Ops III and Advanced Warfare before it, IW opts for what feels like an almost a complete copy & paste of last

Chase: Cold Case Investigations ~Distant Memories~ | REVIEW

Posted on November 23, 2016 by Jason Nason

This is going to be a quicky review, which is appropriate because the subject of this review is a quicky game. While Chase: Cold Case Investigations ~Distant Memories~ is listed as a puzzle adventure game, is really isn’t either. Chase is a very linear visual novel game with very limited interaction coming from the player. It’s mostly a visual novel with the illusion of choices. The game takes place at the Cold Case Unit of the 3rd Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Two detectives work in the cold case unit that never steps outside. One is an eccentric, Shounosuke Nanase, and

Pirate Pop Plus | REVIEW

Posted on November 21, 2016 by Meghan Kass

When I was younger, I played a lot of simple games. I clearly remember getting a CD with a collection of old games, including Dangerous Dave and Skunny the Squirrel games. In between playing Civilization games and Sims games and my NES, I played these quite often. These games weren’t the most sophisticated by any means, nor were they even great, but they made me smile and they were oddly relaxing and had short play times for when I wanted to play a game,, but didn’t have enough time to invest in a longer game (I was a busy kid with a

Fairune 2 | REVIEW

Posted on November 6, 2016 by Jason Nason

When I played Fairune just under two years ago I fell in love with the simple adventure RPG. Looking and feeling somewhat reminiscent of the early The Legend of Zelda games, the game was wide open and fun to play. Circle and developer Skipmore have followed up the game with the sequel Fairune 2 and have built a game that stays true to the success of the first one while also expanding into a much bigger game. Fairune 2 is a game that is built on exploration. You’ll need to not only explore the various maps in the game, but

Previously, on Batman: A Telltale Series: we have seen the beginning of the fall of the Wayne empire and the rise of the Children of Arkham; we have seen Bruce love and lose (depending on your choices that is) and we have seen Batman kick around some criminals and investigate the mystery surrounding his and his family’s past. Rez Infinite | REVIEW

Posted on October 26, 2016 by Ellen McGrody

Rez Infinite logo banner
Rez Infinite is immensely difficult to review. It’s a daunting task, really. That’s not because the game’s bad, it’s not because I don’t have anything to say about it, to the contrary. It’s because I could talk about Rez for a lifetime and still not have said enough. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Tetsuya Mizuguchi is responsible for what may be the defining VR title of our time. In addition to Rez, he’s responsible for landmark games like Lumines and Space Channel 5, in addition to producing classics like Meteos and Every Extend Extra. Rez Infinite will define the best of PlayStation

Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure | REVIEW

Posted on October 20, 2016 by Jason Nason

Sometimes games that look too cute can be overlooked and dismissed as just a kids game. These games can be lacking in a real challenge or have watered down gameplay which could be unappealing for a seasoned gamer. And while Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure is definitely a cute looking game, it’s definitely not one that is without challenge. Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure is what you get when you blend a dungeon crawling adventure with overly cute characters. It could be compared that the the “toon” look that entered the Zelda franchise with The Wind Waker. The environments are
