I Made A Game About 2000s Instant Messengers Thanks To LoveJam

Posted on February 6, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Developing video games isn’t something that I can confess to have a large amount of knowledge about but alas I’ve spent the past year or so learning the basics of Unity 3D and C#. This past weekend I took part in Love Jam, a 72 hour game jam that Simeoens, Mientje and Kenny Guillaume set up to not only celebrate the theme of love but also a friend’s upcoming marriage. Here is how the organizers described their event: “A friend of ours is getting married and asked us if we could make a game for the occasion.  Loving gamedev and game

The Intro To Torment: Tides of Numenera Has Me Hooked

Posted on February 6, 2017 by Les Major

Torment TON Title
In a pleasant surprise today, inXile provided me with an Early Access key to Torment: Tides of Numenera. I have to admit, it’s taking a LOT of willpower to not just get back into the game and ignore my regular duties. One kicker that is keeping me away is I don’t know if my early access save will carry over or not, so there is that at least. That and responsibility and all that good stuff of course. The best thing about Torment is how it feels like an early 2000’s RPG, and that truly is a plus. Built on

Bethesda Reveals Hi Res Texture Pack For Fallout 4, Lists Unannounced AMD Graphics Card In Requirements

Posted on January 30, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Bethesda has announced that both a high resolution texture pack for Fallout 4 on PC and support for the PlayStation Pro will be coming next week to the Boston wastes. The most interesting thing from their announcement has actually been pulled – the recommended requirement of a AMD 490 graphics card , a card which up as of right now does not exist. Perhaps the 490 listing was an error, or perhaps it really was a slip-up as AMD has not launched a new GPU since this past summer when they released the RX 480,  470 and 460. To utilize the

What does the possible elimination of the NEA mean to video games?

Posted on January 27, 2017 by Meghan Kass

In the United States, there is a federal agency that goes by the name the National Endowment of the Arts. According to their website, they are “an independent federal agency that funds, promotes, and strengthens the creative capacity of our communities by providing all Americans with diverse opportunities for arts participation.”. On January 19th, a report from The Hill, and an unnamed source reported that the NEA was on the chopping block for budget cuts under the reasoning that taxpayers should not have to pay for such things such as plays, paintings, scholarly journals or other such works and that it

theHunter: Call Of The Wild Has Some Amazing Visuals

Posted on January 26, 2017 by Les Major

theHunter Call Of The Wild
Sport hunting titles seem like they’ve been around forever. I remember back in the 90s playing Deer Hunting simulators that felt like DOOM mods. It’s a genre that has quite a history. Even GTA 5 had deer hunting, let alone the entire hunting section in Yakuza 5. That long lineage makes it difficult to create something new. theHunter: Call Of The Wild is a game that has been in development for a decade, with much of it’s development cycle coming from Expansive Worlds free to play version of theHunter. One thing I find to be a wonderful addition about theHunter

Windows PC players will be able to explore the world of Paramitia as one of million potential Warriors of Light in the Steam port of Mobius Final Fantasy. As they follow the path set out before them  players are guided by are these disembodied voices commanding the Warriors of Light to continue their quest, are these apparitions really on the level? The whole narrative sets an interesting precedent for online only Final Fantasy titles, sure in FFXIV everyone is the main character, as far as lore is concerned, but in the world of Mobius there are thousands or millions of

The latest patch for the currently in development free to play online shooter brings a collection of community created maps, some huge weapon changes and a brand new prototype weapons. Now the devs hope to not only retain players but provide lapsed agents with even more of a reason to come back to the game as they drop the next paid expansion – Last Stand. First 11 – Check Out Our Torn Tales Gameplay Footage

Posted on January 19, 2017 by Les Major

Torn Tales First 11
Today, I’m starting a new YouTube series to show off some of the PC titles we tackle. Each video will focus on the first eleven minutes of gameplay. Odds are though if I don’t keep track of time again, there will be tons of additional content as well. This first episode takes a look at Torn Tales, a sort of diablo-esque title that tasks gamers to play as Snow White, Robin Hood, and Dr. Jekyll in a party together. Yes, I know the music audio and my dialogue are unfortunately at the same level. I’ll have to be sure to
