Microsoft’s Xbox One Does A 180

Posted on June 19, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Sony had a big advantage going into the next generation console war. Today, however, the clear favored Sony Playstation 4 might actually get some competition after all as Microsoft has announced an update to their Xbox One policies.

Microsoft took a hard blow at E3 when Sony announced that the Playstation 4 would not require a constant online connection and that you can “pass a game to someone standing beside you, yeah that’s how we trade.” I won’t lie, I’m a Microsoft fan and truthfully some of the policies didn’t bother me because they didn’t affect me. BUT, I do see how it does affect other people who trade in games or can’t commit to a connection every 24 hours and quite honestly it really sucked that Microsoft was headed full steam without thinking of their consumers. After all, if you betray your customers what are you left with?

I’m going to assume that it was the PS4/Xbox One pre-order ratio and the millions of previous Microsoft fans that finally go their attention – mostly the pre-orders though. But thankfully Microsoft has actually come through for you, the consumer. There are quite a few big changes to the Xbox One policy, which you can read after the jump!

Super Smash Bros for Wiiu/3DS Will Not Support Gamecube Controllers

Posted on June 19, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

If you’ve got a drawer full of GameCube controllers, just itching to be used once the latest Super Smash Bros  is released in 2014, you might be a little disappointed given the news that the game will not support GameCube controllers. The GameCube was originally unleashed upon the masses in November of 2001, after twelve years the fighting community is going to have to get used to new control schemes.

Nintendo’s classic pro controller offers players an option more similar to the Xbox 360 game pad than the GameCube controller, but it might be the best alternative. A lot of huff and puff was made over the layouts offered by the WiiMote when Brawl was released back in 2008.

Every fighting fan has their favorite tools, some use stock controllers, some use special third party controllers designed for their favorite fighters and others still use expensive arcade fight sticks to try and replicate the feel of a coin operated machine.

Given the apparent lack of GameCube support in the next Smash Bros, what will you chose to lay down the beat down.

Endless Space Expands With Disharmony, Due Out June 26th

Posted on June 19, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Explore, expand, exploit and exterminate is the name of the game in the 4X Genre. This small sub-set of the strategy genre has a very supportive fanbase who have thrown their weight behind a number of smaller projects that have been very success, especially on the PC. Needless to say, announcement of new expansions to these smaller, yet immersive games are inevitable.

Such is the case with the expansion to Endless Space, titled Disharmony, this $9.99 DLC expansion allows players to unlock a brand new faction, The Harmony, as well as hero units. Endless Space features a state-of-the-art campaign, allowing you to guide a civilization of your choice to the ultimate conquest of the galaxy. Disharmony will be available digitally on June 26th, and will release a short time later at retail bundled with an artbook.

Developers Amplitude, don’t build their games behind giant walls of secrecy, everything from new features to art direction are up for discussion through their GAMES2GETHER initiative. They take community feedback very seriously, incorporating changes in different areas of a games design before shipping a project. For more information on their very community focus development philosophy, check out their official site.

We’ve got a trailer for Endless Space after the jump.Read More
