Zelda: Oracle of Seasons / Ages Available Now

Posted on June 7, 2013 by Les Major

The two classic Gameboy Color Legend of Zelda titles by Flagship, a previous subsidiary of Capcom, are available now on the 3DS eShop! Each is a seperate overhead Zelda game in the same style as Link To The Past by the developers of Minish Cap for Gameboy Advance.

For those who long for more classic Zelda adventure like this, not only am I sure you’re excited for Link To The Past 2 which is on the way to the 3DS this holiday season, these are a set of adventures you may have missed. Personally, I’d missed them, playing Link’s Awakening prior and unfortunately not these two titles.

Gamers can get these titles at a discount until June 20th. Each game is $4.99 until then when the price goes up by a dollar per title. So if you’ve been looking for a great fantasy adventure to spend your time in when not studying for exams or just to get ready for the lead in to summer, Nintendo has you covered!

This past spring’s well received Metal Gear spin-off, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, is ready to tear up your gaming PC. Konami has announced detail surrounding the port of Raiden’s first solo outing.  Rising will be available exclusively through digital distribution platforms, the publisher confirmed in a press release this afternoon.

No word on whether or not the PC version will be the same price as it’s console siblings, retailing for $59.99, or if the game will contain additional features like hi-resolution textures.

Community Corner: MMO’s Going F2P

Posted on June 5, 2013 by Trish Bennon

With intense competition pressed upon massively multiplayer online games by the explosion of the casual gaming market, developers are re-evaluating their businesses models to maintain not only their competitive edge but their overall player base.

In 2010 Turbine tossed out subscriptions for Lord of the Rings Online and replaced it with a free to play (F2P) model.  Two years later, Sony Online adopted the F2P experience for both Everquest and Star Wars Galaxies.  On June 12th, Trion Worlds will be the latest developer to climb aboard the F2P train. Historically, this shift has proven extremely profitable for developers.  The question on player’s minds is:  Will this be profitable to the veteran community?Read More

Fable Anniversary Announced For Holiday Season 2013

Posted on June 4, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Probably one of my favorite Microsoft exclusive franchises ever is Fable. I know that many fans of the original game weren’t as pleased with the two sequels, a Kinect game, and Peter Molyneux’s “promises”. Regardless of that, the first Fable is a classic…a Halo in it’s own right. Nothing pleases me more to report that Lionhead Studios and Microsoft have finally decided to re-release it in HD on the Xbox 360 this winter.

This new re-release, titled Fable Anniversary, will feature overhauled graphics, achievements (yay!), an all new interface, “near” instant loading times, a new save system, and even leaderboards to track who is the chicken kicking king (or queen).

In addition it will also come with the Lost Chapters DLC (which is a big plus…and really, why wouldn’t they?) and it even has Smartglass support. Now word on what kind of support, but a mini-map would be freaking awesome.

Lead Designer Ted Timmins had this to say about Fable Anniversary:

“We’re really excited to bring ‘Fable’ to Xbox 360. It’s the game that the ‘Fable’ community has been asking for, so we wanted to make sure ‘Fable Anniversary’ delivered the definitive ‘Fable’ experience for both long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise.”

This has got to be one of the best years in gaming so far, I can wait to see what E3 brings and I can’t wait for this Holiday season to get here!

Ready For A Beginners Lesson On BandFuse: Rock Legends?

Posted on June 3, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Everyone has got to start somewhere. My personal favorite Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge) and guys like Slash, Dave Grohl, and Kirk Hammett all had to start somewhere. How? By picking up a guitar for the first time. Me, I’m a novice guitarist – I know the basics, but really haven’t tried to dedicate myself to taking it to the next level.

BandFuse: Rock Legends caters to all: newcomers, beginners, and experts. Branching off from what Rock Band started, Bandfuse is taking the same route that Rocksmith did but it seems to me this game will be a lot easier to learn from.

Today, Developer Realta Entertainment Group has released a couple new videos for the beginners audience showing of some techniques and the Minor Pentatonic Scale, which you can see after the jumpRead More
