New Deadpool Trailer Comes In Guns Blazing

Posted on March 6, 2013 by Joshua Rust

For those of you who don’t follow Marvel Comics and don’t have a clue as to who Deadpool is…well first off, shame on you. But more importantly, Deadpool (a.k.a. Merc With A Mouth) is a highly trained (unstable) assassin/mercenary who’s banter is comparable to a X-Rated Spider-Man. Really there’s not enough time in the day to tell all the ways that Deadpool is awesome, so if you’re interested in learning more about him check is wiki page.

High Moon Studios is teaming up with Activision and Marvel Comics to bring a you a video game based off one of the biggest fan favorite characters Marvel Comic has and it is due out this summer on Xbox 360 & PS3. Read on for the trailer.Read More

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Reveal Trailer

Posted on March 4, 2013 by Joshua Rust

If you’re like me and grew up during the late 80’s – early 90’s as a kid, you’ll probably remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. By far one of my favorite cartoons ever. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the “reboot” of the franchise on Nickelodeon you should, I highly recommend it.

So with that being said, Red Fly Studios and Activision have teamed up to bring you a whole new TMNT game which will be available across PSN, XBLA, & Steam. Titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, you will be able to play four player online co-op in this third person scrolling adventure. For those of you who can’t quite place a name on what Red Fly Studios has made, they were responsible for the Thor: God Of Thunder movie tie-in. Read on for the trailer.Read More

Activision Registers Four New Skylanders Domains – New Game Imminent?

Posted on February 4, 2013 by Joshua Rust

After posting a $500 million dollar profit in the United States alone, it’s safe to say that Skylanders is/has become an annual franchise. While none of these four domains are actually linked to a website it, it’s apparent that Skylanders is here to stay – no matter what Disney has to say about it!

Here are the four domains that were registered by Activision just a few days ago:

SkylandersKaosAlliance.com

SkylandersNanoForce.com

SkylandersSuperForce.com

SkylandersSwapForce.com

For reference,Skylanders Giants’domain was registered early 2012 and it released October 21st, 2012. So it’s quite probable that we will see the next Skylanders game later this year. Of the four names registered, none of them really strike me as a contender for the unannounced sequels final name. But, I guess that’s why Activison makes the big bucks, lol.

What new features would you all like to see in the next Skylanders game? Maybe with the competition with Disney Infinty, we will see some new innovations to the Skylanders franchise. Truly, the second game was really good but it failed to do anything “new” other than adding the Giants which could move “giant obstacles”.

Skylanders: Giants “Hot Dog” Now Available For Pre-Order

Posted on December 6, 2012 by Joshua Rust

If you’re all like me and have been playing the Skylanders games with your children, you’re always on the lookout for when the next characters are releasing.  I don’t know about other regions, but the Skylanders Giants figures seem to be staying in stock pretty well – I mean, Activision & Toys For Bob can’t really make any money of scalpers right?

So today it was announced that you can now pre-order Hot Dog through Gamestop.com! I’m sure you could also pre-order this in store as well. Hot Dog will be available January 1st, 2013 (assuming the world doesn’t end here soon huh?). I know I’ll be headed out tomorrow to pre-order mine! So who is everyone’s favorite Skylander from both games combined? I’d have to say mine is between Hex & Terrafin – I’m also digging the giant Bouncer as well!

You can find the link to pre-order Hot Dog by clicking right here!

Black Ops II Kills Its Way To $1 Billion In Sales In 15 Days

Posted on December 5, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Black Ops II

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a juggernaut of a game being enjoyed by millions of fans since it launched a few weeks ago. The game had already passed the $500 million mark, reached within 24 hours and now it has earned Activision a billion dollars. It’s a figure that would make even Dr.Evil proud, see the key to getting a billion dollars isn’t threatening the world directly with nuclear weapons but creating a game where technologies like nuclear weapons threaten the world!

For comparisons sake last years’ Modern Warfare 3 reached $400 million in a similar period. Despite analysts speculating that the COD franchise cannot continue to grow, the numbers continue to defy professional expectations.

Skylanders: Giants | Review

Posted on November 23, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

So how do I describe Skylanders: Giants? On the surface this would appear to be something far out of my experience, as I am not really the intended audience for this kind of game. But if My Little Pony can find an audience outside of its intended market then maybe I can find some enjoyment from  an overly colour saturated kid’s product.Read More

Call of Duty: Black Ops II | Review

Posted on November 21, 2012 by Jason Fayta

Version tested: Xbox 360

It’s that time of year again. The days are becoming darker; your wallet is getting lighter, and your waist is growing larger. To curb these seasonal blues, Activision is here with Call of Duty: Black Ops II (hereafter Black Ops 2), the ninth entry in the series and the fourth developed by Treyarch. You may not remember there being nine Call of Duty games, and that’s because Activision is cognizant of the stigma sequelitis projects. After Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, they dropped the sequential numerical approach and adopted subtitles to differentiate installments. Besides, Call of Duty 9: Black Ops II sounds absurd, and cynical gamers may be less likely to demur Black Ops 2 as opposed to Call of Duty 9.Read More

007 Legends | Review

Posted on November 14, 2012 by Jason Bassett

I have been a big fan of the 007 franchise since the days of Goldeneye (both the movie and the game). I haven’t missed one in theaters since Die Another Day and I have loved the countless old-time 007 movies to this day; The Man with the Golden Gun is my favorite. When Activision announced that they were going to be making a game out of some of the old favorites and Die Another Day, I was really excited to see where they would take this game and its routes. Apparently, Activision and Eurocom seemed to forget what James Bond was all about.Read More

You Got My Mass Effect 2 In Your Black Ops II!

Posted on November 13, 2012 by Seung Lee

Retail PC copies of the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops II come with second installation discs. That may seem perfectly normal, but these discs seem to contain data for BioWare’s Mass Effect 2. People everywhere, from Steam to Reddit, have been talking about this issue. There’s even a video on YouTube showcasing the huge blunder. PC players aren’t completely out of luck, however, because the game can still be installed (albeit, very slowly) with a Steam key that comes with each copy.

One has to wonder though–how, exactly, do you go about making such a careless mistake like this? Check out the YouTube video here (warning: there’s excessive profanity).

Activision/Terminal Reality Names The Walking Dead ‘Survival Instinct’

Posted on October 26, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Terminal Reality, known for BloodRayne & Kinect: Star Wars, along with Activision have announced the name to their Walking Dead game cleverly titled: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

Completely unrelated to the fantastic Telltale Walking Dead game episode series, Survival Instinct is a first person shooter that places you in the role of Daryl Dixon. Who by far is my favorite character in the franchise thus far.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a prequel to the T.V. series as it takes place before Daryl and his infamous brother Merle make it to Atlanta. This game will focus the brothers making their way through the Georgia countryside to the “safe” city of Atlanta. While you only play as Daryl, you can bet that Merle will be there to give you grief throughout the entire game.

You will also meet fellow survivors along the way which you can either help or leave to their own devices, but the consequences of doing so may come back to haunt you.

No set date has been revealed so far for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, but it is expected to launch sometime next year. If you’re a fan of the tv series, join us on our forums and discuss it there! Spoilers are there, so you’ve been warned!

Minecraft Topples COD: Modern Warfare 3 For XBL Supremacy

Posted on October 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The Xbox Live “most played” charts aren’t usually a site for heated competition between popular games but this week we have a new king in Mojang’s Minecraft. The Xbox Live version of the block building toppled Activision’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 for the most players on Microsoft’s Online service. Certainly MineCraft is no longer the small indie title that it was back in 2009 but it is still amazing to see a game developed by a small team dethrone a juggernaut like COD.

Older titles like Modern Warfare 2 and Halo: Reach are still in the top but with new entries in both of those series, Black Ops II & Halo 4, surely they will move down in the ranks to make room for newer games.

Here’s the top 5 Xbox Live games for last week:

1
2
3
4
5
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
EA Sports FIFA Soccer 13
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Borderlands 2

MW2’s Favela Is Being Benched, Possibly Forever

Posted on October 8, 2012 by Seung Lee

If you’ve ever played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, then you’ll probably remember playing on Favela, a map based on the Brazilian shanty towns. But, if you hop on MW2 right now, you’ll notice that it’s no longer in the map rotation for any of the game modes. That’s because some upset Muslims have banded together to demand Infinity Ward and Activision, the companies behind MW2, to remove the map from the rotation.

It’s a shame because Favela was one of my favorite maps on the game, but instigating heated arguments here isn’t in my interest. Would it kill the people who patched the game to at least patch One Man Army or Danger Close, though? I’m sure a lot more people (including myself) would play MW2 again, if we knew we wouldn’t be blown up every five seconds.
