Posted on October 15, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Black Ops III

Activision has posted a short video on their YouTube channel outlining some of the tactical abilities and vision modes that will aid combatants in the game’s online multiplayer.

The new two new vision modes include:

Tactical Mode – Allows you to see the distance enemies are away from you as well as the position of snipers and other ordinances on the battlefield.
Enhanced Vision – Offers night vision outlining the map and surrounding area. Enemies and Allies will also be highlighted.

Also shown are Tactical Rigs which allow you to enable capabilities beyond that of traditional soldiers. Some examples include ’emergency reserve’ which will revive your solider once they enter bleed out or Copycat (which some of you might remember from Modern Warfare 2) which allows you to clone the load-out of the last player that fragged you.

Some of the Tactical Rigs shown in the below video:

  • Traversal EMP
  • Emergency Reserve
  • Proximity Detonation
  • Repulsor
  • Sensory Buffer
  • Copycat

Call of Duty Black Ops III Shadows of Evil Prologue Trailer

Posted on October 12, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Black Ops III

What do a washed up magician, a private eye, a cabaret singer looking for her shot at the big time and an aging fighter have to do with each other? They’re the brand new protagonists in the latest Call of Duty Zombies experience – Shadows of Evil – shipping with the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

Activision released the prologue trailer for this new mode and honestly it has a pretty neat 30s/40s Noir Vibe to the whole thing – I am really digging it. Let’s hope that each of these four characters get some growth over the various Zombies episodes because each of them seem to have a story to tell. Whether that story is about exposing corruption in the government, fighting for a second chance or rising to the top of the entertainment each character has their own unique ambitions.

Alongside the trailer Activision released the following summary of Shadows of Evil:

Shadows of Evil introduces four unwitting characters who must uncover the secrets and challenges laid out for them by a shadowy figure, who offers them a path to redemption. Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, and Ron Perlman star in Shadows of Evil, a new survival co-op experience only available in Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Unravel the secrets and explore a massive 1940s, film noir-inspired world in the deepest Zombies experience to date.

We’ll have more on Call of Duty: Black Ops II ahead of its release.

Pre-Order Bonuses For Transformers: Devastation Announced

Posted on September 2, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Are you ready to roll out with the October 6th release of Platinum game’s Transformers: Devastation? Activision has announced the pre-order incentives for this brand new brawler based upon the classic series featuring warring factions of transforming robots.

By pre-ordering Devastation either at a physical retailer or digitally through Steam, Xbox Live Marketplace or PlayStation Networks fans will receive three character skins (Nemesis Prime, Red Alert and Goldfire) along with three unique weapons (Dark Star Saber, Photon Disruptor and the Golden Hunter).

Transfromers: Devastation takes inspiration from the series’ carton roots with a pretty neat looking cel-shaded look combined with all of the action we’d expect from a Saturday morning cartoon.  Featuring the original voice of Optimus Prime himself – Peter Cullen – Devastation sounds like a nostalgia trip for anyone who grew up in the mid-1980s.

Transformers: Devastation will be available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PS3.

PlayStation 4 COD: Black Ops III Beta Sets Record

Posted on August 31, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Activision announced today that the PS4 beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops III that ran from August 19th thru the 23rd enlisted millions of gamers to help stress test Treyarch’s latest FPS.  Black Ops III has set the record for the highest number of players playing a beta on the PlayStation Network according to a press release issued by Activison.

Rob Kostich a VP and Call of Duty general manager had this to say about the beta version of COD: Black Ops II:

“Becoming the biggest beta on PS4 speaks to the excitement felt by gamers and the quality of work by Treyarch.  And remember, this beta is just a fraction of the overall multiplayer experience and a portion of what’s coming on November 6 when the full game – spanning campaign, multiplayer and Zombies hits worldwide.”

PS4 owners weren’t the only ones enlisted to help test our Black Ops III– PC gamers and Xbox One owners got a chance to try out the same beta version as their Sony counter-parts this past weekend.

The full version of Call of Duty: Black Ops III will ship for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 6th. New features include specialists in multiplayer – preset characters who each have their own special ability that charges up over time and the inclusion of vertical movement and wall running.

Final Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Map Pack Out Sept 3rd

Posted on August 14, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Call of Duty fans on Windows PC and PlayStation 4 will finally be able to get their hands on the last map pack, Reckoning, for last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on September 3rd Activision has announced. Combining four new multiplayer maps (see descriptions below) and a conclusion to the “Exo Zombies” mode originally introduced in the first DLC for Advanced Warfare this is sure to keep longtime fans glued to their screens until the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops III later this year.

Advanced Warfare’s Reckoning map pack includes the following maps according to Activision:

Overload:  With a grand view of downtown New Baghdad, the map’s multiple levels and long perimeter site-lines highlight medium to long-range combat.

Quarantine :  The speed picks up in this medium sized map with its tight corners and open areas.  The combination allows for any style of gameplay.

Fracture :  Search this map’s large combat areas, cradled on the shelf of a glacier, to take refuge behind wind turbines and heavy equipment.

Swarm : In this small to medium sized map, take position in war-scarred storefronts that provide plenty of cover over the streets of Seoul, South Korea, or flank the enemy through close quarter interiors in the centre of the map.

It was originally released on Xbox One earlier this month on August 4th and will cost $14.99 USD on all platforms.  Check out the trailer below.

New Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Developer Diary

Posted on June 26, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Activision’s team of developers are reaffirming their commitment to bringing the old school high score tallying playstyle of classic Tony Hawk Pro Skater games with this latest ViDoc for Tony Hawk’s Proskater 5.

Interviews with professional skaters interspersed with members of the developers make up the bulk of this new ViDoc. We get a better idea about some of the gameplay changes coming to THPS5 including the slamdown mechanic allows players to put a downward thrust on their boards to extend combos. Activision hopes that online custom skate park sharing and communities will entice an entire generation of skate fans to make their own creations.

The Next Destiny Expansion Is ‘The Taken King’

Posted on June 9, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Destiny players looking for details on the next downloadable expansion for Bungie’s latest shooter don’t have to wait any longer as the marketing materials for this Fall’s The Taken King have leaked. I am fully expecting this new expansion to be demoed on stage at Sony’s press conference next week at E3.

According to Kotaku The Taken King will be priced at $40 and will include new sub-classes for each of the existing three classes, a brand new raid pitting parties of guardians against a new foe called Oryx, new PVP arenas, new story missions and a brand new public event.

A previous Destiny roadmap that leaked in January outlined The Taken King (previously known under the codename ‘Comet’) as including 12 story missions, 1 raid, 3 strikes and a new “base level” of 30.

It is unknown if any of the planned content from the Comet leak have been tweaked in the past six months. Hopefully we will all get our first look at The Taken King in just a few short days.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Announced

Posted on May 7, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Get ready to shred up the skate park once again with the confirmation of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. After appearing on the cover of the upcoming issue of Game Informer publisher Activision has confirmed the a brand new entry in the long running Tony Hawk franchise is set to debut later this year on current gen consoles.

Returning to the series roots THPS5 focuses on completing objectives, getting high scores and finding hidden secrets through its levels. Developer Robomodo promises that the inclusion of online play and power-ups (like projectiles) will add variety to the game-play without compromising the classic feel that the THPS franchise is known for.

The last numbered Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater title, THPS4 was released in 2002 for the GameCube, PS2 and original Xbox. The last two major console releases in the franchise Tony Hawk Ride (2009) and Tony Hawk Shred (2010) received less than stellar reviews. However a reimagining of content from Pro Skaters 2 & 3, titled Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD was well received a few years back.

Get ready to lace up your shoes and kick flip the board one more time! Who’s up for a game of HORSE?
