Early Access MMORPG LinkRealms Going Free To Play

Posted on October 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

LinkRealms a Steam Early Access MMORPG that attempts to recreate the glory days of Ultima Online will go free to play as of October 10th developer Mythyn has announced. They believe that the game is ready for a wider audience thanks to the success of recent updates that have brought features like criminal status, newcomer enhancements and class adjustments to the game. Mythyn describes their game as a “hardcore sandbox MMORPG” with a set of “old school design choices” and challenging dungeons. Basically, it sounds like this game ignores every genre convention or breakthrough that has occurred since the mid-90s. Currently

Interview: Clickteam’s Chris Carson About Their Upcoming Game Jam

Posted on September 26, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

I recently got the chance to interview Clickteam’s Chris Carson about the company’s upcoming “Weirder Stuff” game jam and month long contest. As I previously covered late last week the Weirder Stuff game jam + month long contest is aimed around providing developers and aspiring developers a chance to show off their creative talents using Clickteam’s range of “visual programming” techniques or as Chris so aptly put it when I interviewed him last March at GDC “programming for the rest of us”. Alongside showcasing some of the communities best creative minds Clickteam is also giving away some prizes for the

Digital Homicide filing lawsuit against Valve

Posted on September 20, 2016 by Meghan Kass

Indie developer, Digital Homicide has been under hot water recently. The developer is currently looking to raise money and seek legal representation to sue steam users due to poor reception of their games. While Digital Homicide states they are fighting against harassment, Valve had a different perception. Digital Homicide has produced over a dozen games, such as Galactic Hitman (as pictured above), using the steam platform. These games have received numerous poor reviews and have gained the attention of the Steam community and YouTube personalities. They have been accused of using paid assets and having very little effort put into their

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero delayed six weeks

Posted on September 2, 2016 by Jason Nason

WayForward issued an update on the progress of their HD Shantae game, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, and the news wasn’t happy news. The update is by no means dire, but the game is going to be delayed up to six weeks or more. Developers have stated that the delay is for bug fixing and adding additional polish, which is definitely a good thing. With the rush to get many games out these days, many games are released relatively unfinished. Day one patches aren’t at all uncommon. The release date has been pushed back from September 27th to sometime in mid-November. Still

Savage Lands Is Actually Pretty Neat

Posted on August 22, 2016 by Les Major

Savage Lands Campfire
As far as early access goes and something that was nearly given away on the base tier of a recent Humble Bundle, Savage Lands is actually a pretty fun experience. At first glance I just assumed it was a basic indie Elder Scrolls sort of game, but it actually falls more into the survival and crafting genre. Sure this early access experience is still a little rough around the edges, but it’s the basics that kind of work the best for it. Stepping out of the way of lunging skeletons, strafing around an enraged boar, firing that one last arrow

Momodora Is A Metroidvania Worth Exploring

Posted on August 21, 2016 by Les Major

Momodora First Boss
It’s been a little while since Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight was released on Steam, but it’s definitely a title Metroidvania fans should take a look at. The game is even currently on sale at just $6.99 USD! I’ve been quite the fan of titles like this over the years. The Castlevania DS games really drew me into the genre and I’ve been playing them ever since. This entry in the Momodora series really scratches that itch. There’s goodies to find, bosses to fight, and items to purchase. That and really, what other game do you play as a skilled

What Is The Upcoming Steam JRPG Trillion Anyway?

Posted on August 15, 2016 by Les Major

Trillion is an Idea Factory title in which you power up to take on Trillion, the god of destruction! Sounds nice, happy and to the point doesn’t it? Trillion seemingly gets his name from the 1,000,000,000,000 hit points he has. Hopefully he’s max level so he doesn’t need to change his name. It must have been weird for Trillion growing up. “Who are you?” “I’m Twenty-Four!” “Oh, that’s a shame because my sword has a DPS of twenty five!” We don’t need to worry about that though since Trillion has all those juicy hit points at level 1. Ahem, joking

Guardians of Ember Coming To Steam Early Access This September

Posted on August 14, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Veteran game developers Runewater have announced their latest game Guardians of Ember will be available on Steam Early Access next month. This brand new isometric hack & slash action title looks to take more than a few cues from Blizzard’s Diablo franchise from both a gameplay design and graphical style perspective. For fans of the genre, this might be one to keep an eye on ahead of it’s September Early Access release. Guardians of Embers describes the game as an action title where players must defend the world of Olymdale from a mysterious dark menace. As a hero players have a choice between

Ray Gigant Holding Strong On Steam New Releases

Posted on August 13, 2016 by Les Major

Ray Gigant Battle
With titles like No Man’s Sky just being released this week, you’d figure it would be difficult to be anyone else. That’s not the case with Acttil Steam release of Ray Gigant which is still holding strong on the popular new releases list. Originally released for the PlayStation Vita, the game sees players tackling a visual novel story with dungeon crawling elements included. If that isn’t enough to grab your attention, the story feels like an interesting mix between Neon Genesis Evangelion (without the mecha) and almost a Percy Jackson vibe as you join with others who have powers given

Warner Bros Interactive’s Lego Dimensions series successfully fused several unconnected famous properties into a well received toys to life last year. Posted on July 23, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

In a rather exhaustive interview MCVUK discussed Capcom’s surprising showing both at the Sony / Microsoft press conferences and on the show floor during E3. Members of Capcom Europe disclosed that while capcom is aware of the poor reputation that 2012’s Resident Evil 6 received among fans, the company tries to appeal to a number of different types of fans with their RE titles. In regards to Resident Evil 7 the development team felt that it was important for the game to get back to the sense of tension found in the earlier titles.  It was the desire for this sense of tension

Is Mountain A Form Of Modernism Or Just Another Screensaver?

Posted on July 19, 2016 by Kyle Scarboro

Is Mountain a form of modernism or a screensaver? On one hand, Mountain offers a serene landscape and a breathtaking view of a mountain. On the other hand, it ages and becomes its own identity. Mountain lets you look at all sides and the more you look, the more it grows. What sets this mountain apart from other games? A game that offers no control of the outcome, but draws you in.   Mountain was created by David O’Reilly and is a relaxing simulator where its art is defined as not just art, but art horror. Why is it considered

Alongside the release of the original Capcom will also bring Dead Rising 2 and it’s spin-off Dead Rising 2: Off The Record to PS4 and Xbox One as well.
