Metal Gear Rising Will Be Wonderful On Your Dark Days

Konami has released a wonderful new Metal Gear Rising trailer. It reminds me that regardless of financial difficulties I need to buy this game. Because no matter how dark the world seems there is something serene about hacking enemies to pieces. Call it morbid, call it whatever you want. Games are an interactive medium that help us gamers blow off steam. In my experience something like Rising will allow me to reduce stress, therefore causing less anger....

Far Cry 3 | Review

Version tested: PlayStation 3 Now for a game that’s been called Skyrim with guns, what can I really say about Far Cry 3? How about this game is one of the best examples of character development in a game to date! Far Cry as a franchise has always been somewhat lacking, with great ideas and horrendous execution. Far Cry 3 clearly sought to change all of that. So follow me dear readers and embrace the path of...

XCOM: Enemy Unknown | Review

XCOM: Enemy Unkown is the resurrection of a once great series. The original XCOM titles were amazing tactical and unforgiving you could lose hours trying to save the world. I’d love to say that Enemy Unknown is the perfect return to form however that would just not be true. This series has been updated sometimes for the better and other times for the worse.

Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron | Review

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is the sequel to the surprise hit Transformers: War For Cybertron. I managed to miss the predecessor, but thanks to some friends here at Broken Joysticks I got my hands on the sequel. Man does it feel good to be playing a good transformers game. The Transformers franchise has not been treated so well in recent years. With those terrible movies and all, I’m glad to see developer High Moon Studios has such...

Persona 4 Arena | Review

Wait a second an RPG is transcending it’s genre and making the leap to…a fighting game? I couldn’t believe the precedent being created when Persona 4 Arena was announced. I had an even harder time believing that such a drastic leap away from the norm could turn out so well. Yes dear readers P4 Arena is not only a competent fighter, it is also a great one. Can you believe it? This sets the stage so that...

The Expendables 2 Game | Review

There has been a stigma surrounding movie based videos games, excluding the surprise hit Spiderman 2, movie based games tend to suck and bad. I would like to say that The Expendables 2 Game (seriously “game” is in the title) breaks this stigma much like Spiderman 2 did. I would like to say that but unfortunately that would be a flat out lie.

It’s fair to say that I have been very excited for this title. Were my expectations too high for this one?

The Broken Joysticks Top 5: Nostalgic Pick Me Up RPGS

Greeting dear readers, you will have to excuse my infrequent posts as of late as I prepare for a big move I’m finding myself with less time. Chores, apartment viewings, work and, Rainbow Moon (Yes that review will be posted VERY soon). As life keeps throwing curve balls at me I tend to get depressed. When I get down I always seem to gravitate to immersive games from my childhood. I get wrapped up in these games....

Magic: A Gift Or A Curse?

Now I’ve made it very clear in the past that I love Dragon Age: Origins. I have mixed feelings on its predecessor Dragon Age 2, but that is a topic for another article. Today my dear readers we are here to discuss something far greater. Recently I was replaying Origins and I have been following this up with a speedy play through of Dragon Age 2. During this retread of familiar ground I have found myself able...

Sorcery | Review

When Sony first showed us the Play Station Move at E3 2010 there was one demo that caught everyone’s attention: Sorcery. In this demo we saw just what the Move was capable of. It could detect a variety of motions and even angles, all of these could affect the events in the game. Needless to say I was blown away. Basically the Move seemed to offer what Nintendo’s Wii had promised me. I couldn’t wait to get...

Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron Coming to PC!

Looks like the folks at High Moon Studios have been listening to the glorious outrage from fans of Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron. With that we here at Broken Joysticks are proud to report a PC version of the game will launch August 28th 2012 along with it’s console counterparts. This is huge news for PC fans who loved the first game in the series. The game was very underated in my opinion so its great to see...

Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 Reveal Trailer

So as we begin hyping ourselves up for E3 we here at Broken Joysticks were watching the pre E3 Konami press conference as I mentioned before. Probably one of the biggiest announcements out of that conference besides Metal Gear Solid Rising, was the Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2. It looks as though Gabriel Belmont is now one of the fiends he fought so hard against.
