Posted on June 1, 2016 by Jason Nason

The hunt is on! Two new games are coming to the Nintendo Virtual Console tomorrow.

The Wii U eShop will see the VC release of Nintendo DS title Metroid Prime Hunters when the download drops tomorrow. The game, which will run you $9.99 USD, can be pre-installed already. Here’s the plot of the game: A ferocious race, now extinct, has left behind relics of its once-powerful warrior culture. Now six other fierce bounty hunters from across the galaxy will challenge Samus in a race to claim these relics in hopes of harnessing their power for themselves.

Also on the Virtual Console horizon is the third installment in the SNES Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie’s Double Trouble. In the game Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong have gone missing. You play as Dixie Kong or Kiddy Kong, where you’ll take advantage of each of their unique abilities as they throw each other into action in over 40 levels. There are plenty of collectibles—including Bear Coins, which grant access to the services of the Brothers Bear, and Banana Birds, which Wrinkly Kong has a deep fondness for.

SEGA Adventure Fan Resurrects Long Lost In-Game Dreamcast Website

Posted on June 1, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Prepare to surf like it’s 9.9.1999 all over again!

One dedicated Sonic Adventure fan hasn’t given up the dream of built-in 56k modems and 640×480 official websites rendered in HTML4. Load up your favorite PC browser, or for the full experience plug in a Dreamcast console to a CRT television and surf on over to sonic-adventure.com to relive Sonic Team’s official site for the original Sonic Adventure as it existed from 09.09.99 thru late 2000.

The site was originally accessible through the Sonic Adventure GD-Rom, when the game was running on a Dreancast players could launch a built-in browser that would load up Sonic-Adventure.com. Sonic Team would post official rankings from their World Rankings contest for all to see (manually I might add, as this was before unified gamertags and dynamic web pages. It also included small guides that gave players hints to achieve at least an A ranking on all courses in Sonic Adventure as well as guides for all of the included mini-games.

Sadly not all of the original functionality was able to be restored. Since these pages were salvaged from the Internet Way Back Machine only the static pages work properly. The original official Sonic Adventure site allowed users to store up to one pet Chao in the “Chao Garden” section as well as trade Chaos with their friends from around the world. Sadly, the links to these functions just bring you to a 404 page because the new owner of Sonic-Adventure.com doesn’t have the original scripts to store the Chao data.

Why not head on over to Sonic-Adventure.com for yourself and relive the Dreamcast days? It’s still thinking!

AMD’s $199 Radeon RX 480 Graphics Card is VR-Ready

Posted on June 1, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Welp, its a good year for graphics cards. First we have the whole set of NVida 10xx cards which are more powerful than the current hi end 1000$ cards that with a price point of about half. Now it seems that AMD is not going to die quietly and from their skunkworks comes the announcement of the new RX480 at just the tiny tiny price of $199USD. Stop, wait a minute, 200USD?! for a VR ready GPU? The Radeon RX 480 is scheduled to launch on June 29, with a model that is certified to power the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

here are the specs :

TFLOPS >5
CUs 36
Memory Bandwidth 256 GB/s
Data Rate (Effective) 8 Gbps
Memory Size 4/8 GB GDDR5
Memory Bit-rate 256-bit
Power 150 W
VR Premium Yes
AMD FreeSync Yes
Display Port 1.4/1.4 HDR

This is one of the craziest contrasts that I have ever seen in GPU’s. Last month AMD reveled the the $1500 Radeon Pro Duo. Which is designed for VR developers, and obviously the exact opposite of this card. Do you think this card is going to outsell the new Nvidia cards?

Rigged Up: Steel Series M500 and Sibera 350 Review

Posted on June 1, 2016 by Broken Joysticks

Review by: j.c. campbell

The SteelSeries Apex M500 mechanical keyboard is a good mechanical keyboard at an excellent price. $99 buys you a full-size backlit mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX red switches. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options: you can have any keyboard you like as long as you like blue blacklighting and Cherry MX red switches. The Cherry MX reds are mechanical key switches with zero tactile feedback and zero audible feedback, unless you count the feeling and sound of the key hitting the end of its travel, or “bottoming out.” There is zero feedback when the keys actuate or make electrical contact and send a signal to your computer that a key was pressed. Because of this, we found ourselves pressing the keys down all the way all of the time just to be sure. Many people prefer this type of key for gaming, especially in first-person shooters, where you aren’t typing as much as holding down keys for precise amounts of time to move in the game. However, it isn’t considered optimal for typing by most people, so if you plan on spending any significant amount of time typing this keyboard might not be the best.Read More

Overwatch myths are just too cool

Posted on June 1, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

So if your alive, and awake at all, you probably have been playing Overwatch, Blizzards huge new shooter. I my self have spent about 40 hours playing since the games release just over a week ago. I often found my self wondering if some of the more prevalent “myths” about the game are real or fake. Well DefendTheHouse (of mythbusters halo fame) is here to answer your questions. With this second volume they are covering many popular myths like can you block a Hanzo ultimate with a D.iVa shield? and can Bastion kill people by landing on them.

Take a gander at the video and while you are there be sure to subscribe to us on Youtube so you can catch all of our videos too!

Law Breakers releases Killer Verticality trailers

Posted on June 1, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

These last two weeks Boss Key productions have released two new trailers for their upcoming first person shooter headed by Cliff Blizinsky, Law Breakers. Each of the one minute videos feature about a minute of one of the developers talking about so far two of the games classes. First the Enforcer, then the Vanguard. Ill let the videos speak for them selves, but they look pretty awesome so far. Be sure to sign up for the alpha  for a chance to get in on the action!

I saw this game at PAX East and really had fun with it. I was playing the enforcer and even though I wasnt able to capture any of my gameplay I did feel like the game was mostly done and ready to go. These videos feature what seems to me to be a much higher level of polish. Textures are smoother, there are more details, so I assume boss key have been hard at work on the game since I saw it over a month ago. Brokenjoysticks will be doing a full demo play through of this game at E3 so be sure to keep your eyes open for those first impressions.
