Payday 2 Announced By 505 Games

Posted on March 13, 2013 by Joshua Rust

505 Games and Overkill Software have announced that a sequel to Payday: The Heist is on the way in form of Payday 2.  CVG got a chance to preview the game and had this to say about it:

“Payday 2 provides a unique spin on co-op first-person shooting, and we love the idea of becoming a career criminal with friends, working our way up from lowly convenience store stick-ups to mass-scale bank robberies.

“The first game was excellent, but with the guiding hand of Chronicles of Riddick developers Starbreeze, which recently purchased Overkill, this sequel could be even better.”

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Coming To Retail

Posted on March 13, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Minecraft Wii U

I guess after selling over 5 million copies over Xbox Live Arcade, it’s fair to say that Minecraft is a huge success on the Xbox 360 and deserves a retail copy. I know that there are people out there who for one reason or another have not had a chance to experience what Minecraft has to offer due to data limit or no internet connection at all.

4J Studios will cater to those people who can’t or don’t want to purchase it over Xbox Live Arcade starting on April 30th when Minecraft hits retail stores. There will be no difference from the downloadable counterpart of the game, but it will have all of the previous updates that the downloadable version has plus the upcoming “ninth update” which will add additional features as well. As expected, the retail version will receive all future updates also.

Who has been holding off for this to hit retail and is excited to see it finally makes it’s way onto disc?

Ron Gilbert Has Left Double Fine

Posted on March 12, 2013 by Eric Bastelak

Today is a sad day for me Ron Gilbert has left the great developer Double Fine. Ron made a post on his personal blog, basically he’s moved on to pursue other interest since his pet project The Cave released earlier this year. It’s exciting to hear what Mr. Gilbert may be up to in the future but I am still sad to see him go. The man is a legend of our industry. I truly did love seeing what he and Tim Schafer could create together. Hopefully we will see them work together again in the future. Until then we here at Broken Joysticks will be keeping a close eye on what comes next.

First U.S. Trailer For Pandora’s Tower

Posted on March 11, 2013 by Les Major

The folks at Xseed are bringing Pandora’s Tower states side and it’s sounding good! Personally I like the voice acting in this first U.S. version trailer. The story focuses on A young ex-mercenary named Aeron trying to break the curse on Elena, a singer his heart has been pledged to. She will turn into a monster unless Aeron can obtain the flesh of twelve masters in the towers, seemingly the ones located in The Scar. Elena must then eat their flesh to break the curse. In the trailer, she looks realistically hesitant when faced with this task.

Set to be released in April, Pandora’s Tower was developed in Japan by Ganbarion in conjunction with Nintendo, exclusively for Wii. Read on for the trailer.Read More

Gearbox Teases New Playable Vault Hunter

Posted on March 8, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Again, the word “tease” is the main emphasis here – straight from the Gearbox panel at SXSW. It has been confirmed that this new character will NOT be part of the Season Pass for Borderlands 2. From the brief images in the trailer, it appears this new character is a melee specialist. A release date has not been specified, but Matt Armstrong stated, “DLC is announced on a very tight schedule, and I don’t think you’ll have to wait long until you see that character.”Read More
