Mo-Cap Artist Pegs Playstation Battle Royale For a Fall Release

Posted on May 7, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Could Sucker Punch’s electrically charged everyman Cole Mcgrath be making an appearance in Playstation Battle Royale? Eric Ladin, the man behind Cole’s moves (read: his Mo-Cap artist) tweeted yesterday that he was in the studio performing as Cole, but not for an infamous title.

Does this confirm Cole as part of the games line-up? Nothing is set in stone but it is possible that Cole Mcgrath will be added via DLC if he does not make the initial cut. On twitter Ladin wrote “Feels good to be back in the mo-cap suit! Before you ask … no, not inFamous.”.

Also of interest is the fact that Eric Ladin followed up his tweet with the news that the title he is working on will be released sometime towards the end of the year. Could Sony be positioning PlayStation Battle Royale as part of their holiday line-up? Combine PBR (no, not the beer) and a price cut and you have attractive bundle, Just say’in Sony!

May Hurray Bundle Giveaway

Posted on May 7, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

We were wondering about what to give away today. The Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation (today known as Sony) was founded on the seventh of May 7th 1946. Over 500 years prior to that auspicious occasion, Joan of Arc took an arrow to the shoulder. Instead of whining about it, Joan continued adventuring. In fact, she patched herself up and got back into the fight that very evening. Her forces would lift the siege of Orléans the following morning. We considered giving out games somewhat related to those events.

However, Broken Joysticks won’t allow the distant past to dictate our actions in the present. Instead of giving out Sony games or Medieval strategy games, we’ll be giving away copies of Indie Royale’s May Hurray bundle! If you’d like a copy of one of these bundles, please post in our comments section. Tell us which of the games included in the bundle interests you the most and why. Winners will be chosen later today and announced in the comments section for this post.

Gaming Unplugged At Wil Wheaton’s Tabletop

Posted on May 5, 2012 by Andrew Minott

Brain-snacking zombies. Marauding orcs. ‘Wood-for-sheep’ jokes that we say are immature and stupid, but we giggle anyway. Gaming shenanigans aren’t just for these damn video games

Featured on Felicia Day’s Geek & Sundry YouTube channel, TableTop is Wil Wheaton’s bi-monthly show in which he gathers three nerd celebrities (nerdlebrities? [nope.]) to play board games, and Wil was nice enough to record the goings-on for everyone to see.Read More

Riot Games Raising Cash for Kids

Posted on May 4, 2012 by Andrew Minott

From now until May 18th, League of Legends makers Riot Games is donating the entirety of the purchase price of the champion Jax and his Jaximus skin to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as marking both of those items at a 50% discount. Riot said they were inspired to make this move after partnering with the Foundation to provide a trip and tour of their offices for Joe, a young man with a rare bone cancer. ” We were excited to meet him, and were blown away by his courage and positive attitude,” said Riot’s Brandon Beck.

Rage Against The Machine Rebel Their Way To Rockband Store

Posted on May 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Politically charged Rock legends Rage against the Machine head to the Rock Band Store this week for both the Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network. Three tracks are now available for each version, included in the Rage Against the Machine pack are “Killing in the name of” from RATM’s self-titled 1992 album and “Sleep Now In The Fire” and “Bombtrack” from 1999’s The Battle of Los Angeles. Each track also has an optional PRO Guitar add-on should you own that peripheral.

Personally, The Battle of Los Angeles is one of my favorite albums by RATM. I still listen to it every so often and even though it is over a decade the mix of Rap & Tom Morello’s excellent guitar work sound great even into the 2010s, through in the Orwellian inspired lyrics and you have a dystopian winner of a record.

Each track is priced at $0.99 USD (80 Microsoft points) or $5.50 (440 MSP) for the three song pack

Good Old Games Adds Two Classic Stealth Titles

Posted on May 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

We’re no strangers to Good Old Games here at BrokenJoysticks. Not only do we use them for some of our PC centric reviews but also some of the codes given away work on their service. It is safe to say that GOG gets our seal of approval.

The DRM free digital distribution platform recently added two classic stealth games with Thief Deadly Shadows and the original Splintercell to their library. On the modern front GOG added the indie RTS Anomaly: Warzone Earth which originally appeared on Ipad, Android and IOS back in 2010.

You can get your grabby little hands on any three of these games over at the official GOG site for $9.99 USD/CDN.

Quick, to the batmobile! This weekend’s deal on Steam is particularly tempting for all us comic fans out there. Until Monday May 7th Batman Arkham City has been discounted on steam to an absolutely mind blowing $14.99!

For that price you’d have to be as mad as the joker not to pick up Arkham City (okay I’ll stop with the lame jokes!). If you missed out on Arkham back when it launched in October now is as good as any time to get in on the detective action, especially with the Harley’s Revenge DLC coming out at the end of the month.

Company of Heroes 2 Ready To Be Deployed Sometime Next Year

Posted on May 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Long time RTS developer Relic Entertainment is set to unveil the next entry in their World War II franchise Company of Heroes in the next issue of PC Magazine. A user on the popular forum NeoGaf spotted an early copy of the magazine which contains a preview of the upcoming Company of Heroes 2.

COH2, due out in 2013, shifts things over to Europe’s eastern front according to the PC Magazine cover story. This of course means that your forces will be battling it out on cold Soviet tundra during battles like Operation Barbarosa, The Battle of Stalingrad and the battle at Kursk.

The original Company of Hereos was released in 2006, meaning that we are long overdue for a sequel. Check out the first promotional artwork from the game thanks to a screengrab of the latest PC Magazine cover after the jump.Read More

Posted on May 4, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

Deep Silver and X1 Software/AWAR just released new screenshots from their upcoming tactical shooter Iron Front – Liberation 1944. The pictures showcase the Red Army, which is appropriate for a game set during the great Soviet summer offensive of 1944. Iron Front comes out on the 25th of this month, in the meantime you can check out the new screens after the jump.

If you get a sense of Déjà vu while viewing the wave of screenshots below, it might have something to do with the fact that Iron Front uses the same engine as ARMA 2.

Mount & Blade Collection Giveaway

Posted on May 4, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

A little bird told me that Broken Joysticks would publish something Mount & Blade related soon. That sounds like a good excuse to give out copies of the Mount and Blade collection. Unfortunately, this collection doesn’t include the Napoleonic Wars DLC, but it does have Mount & Blade, Mount and Blade: Warband, and Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword. We will hide three codes for the collection in our articles, twitter account, or our steam group. Read on for a trailer and details on how to activate the games via steam.

Indie Royale’s May Hurray Bundle Released

Posted on May 3, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

Indie Royale’s latest game bundle is now available. The five games included in this $5 USD bundle are Dungeon Defenders, Containment: The Zombie Puzzler, Data Jammer: FastForward, Brainpipe- A plunge to Unhumanity, and Weird World: Return to Infinite Space. In my humble opinion, Dungeon Defenders, a RPG/Tower Defense hybrid, is worth $5 by itself. The others are just icing on the cake.

Additionally, for $7 USD you’ll also receive Starscream/Infinity Shred’s album “Future, Toward the Edge of Tomorrow.”  If you are into that sort of thing.

Posted on May 3, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Activision have released a few new screenshots for the absolutely refreshing Call of Duty Black Ops 2. These new screenshots show us a destroyed Los Angeles, a really good look at one of the games protagonists and a futuristic tank.

Many gamers, myself included, where floored by the debut trailer. The direction the franchise has taken was completely unexpected and has genuinely renewed my interest in the Call of Duty franchise.

Check out the three new screenshots after the jump. What do you think about the new direction of Black Ops 2?Read More
