Nintendo 64 Games Launching On The Wii U E-Shop

Posted on April 2, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

The Nintendo 64 didn’t get as much love as other classic Nintendo consoles in terms of Virtual Console in the 7th generation but hopefully the second time around is a bit better with the announcement of N64 games for the Wii U Virtual Console.

Announced for the VC were Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64. The former is available right now on the North American E-shop while DK64 is expected to launch sometime in the near future. Prices for N64 titles range from $6.99 to $9.99 USD.

Super Mario 64 launched on June 23rd 1996 and was released on the Nintendo DS in 2004. Donkey Kong 64 was released on November 24th 1999 and has yet to see a re-release on modern Nintendo consoles. Could this mean that other Rare greats like Perfect Dark or Jet Force Gemini could be re-released on the Wii U?

New 3DS Launches In North America On Feb 13th

Posted on January 14, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

The rest of the world received Nintendo’s most recent iteration of their flagship handheld the New Nintendo 3DS last fall and now the console maker has taken the wraps off of their North American launch plans. The New Nintendo 3DS XL will be available in Canada and the United States on February 13th for a suggested retail price of $229.99 CDN. If you’ve been waiting to upgrade your 3DS now might just be the right time as apparently pre-orders are selling out fast.

What new features await owners of this new handheld? New 3DS XL adds two additional shoulder buttons, a second analogue stick, in the form of the C-Stick (remember those from the GameCube?), a faster processor and Near Field Communication (NFC) support for the Nintendo Amiibo line of figures. A firmware update set to be released alongside the new console will enable Amiibo support. If you own a copy of Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS that game is significantly improved on the new hardware. Not only does the NN3DS boot up Smash Bros much faster but you can also execute smash attacks instantly using the C-Stick.

We’ll have more on the New Nintendo 3DS as the North American launch date approaches. Check out the trailer for the hardware after the jump.

Super Smash Bros for Wiiu Nintendo Direct Set For Tomorrow

Posted on October 22, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Are your thumbs still sore from smashing your opponents off screen? The Big N has a Nintendo Direct live stream set for Thurs October 23rd at 3PM PST to announce some new features for the Wii U version of Nintendo’s cross-franchise brawler.   We’re not sure what they’re going to announce, a console exclusive level based upon the hit Doshin the Giant games, perhaps? (an obscure game I know.. look it up!)

The 3DS version has done fantastically well, selling over 2.8 million copies worldwide in just a few short weeks. There is a reason Jason awarded the game a perfect 10.0 in his review!

Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct Coming Tuesday

Posted on April 4, 2014 by Les Major

Eager for more news on Super Smash Bros. the latest in the series coming to both Wii U and 3DS? Nintendo does confirm these will be new details. Any speculation on what could be coming our way? I have a few hopes myself. Dr. Wily perhaps? Who knows! Personally, and it’s a long shot, I’d love to see Wart from Super Mario Bros. 2 the USA version. After all, it is a featured game in the upcoming NES Remix 2 available later this month on the Wii U eShop. The Nintendo Direct will be on Tuesday, April 8th, at 6 p.m. EST and viewable here: http://www.Nintendo.com/Nintendo-Direct

Nintendo sent out notice today that there will be a new Nintendo Direct being broadcast online on Wednesday morning at 9am ET. This new Direct will share information focusing on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS software launching through spring 2014.

Could there be any information about the upcoming Wii U and 3DS Super Smash Bros. games? Perhaps some more details to get gamers excited about the upcoming Bravely Default game.

3DS Focused Nintendo Direct Scheduled for Tomorrow

Posted on November 12, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Everyone might be talking about the impending release of the PlayStation 4 but Nintendo hasn’t forgotten their handheld’s devoted following with the announcement of a Nintendo Direct scheduled for tomorrow. Both Nintendo of America and Nintendo Europe will be simultaneously broadcasting this latest game focused showcase.

Some games that may be highlighted during tomorrow’s stream: Mario Gold 3DS, Bravely Default Fairy, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy and perhaps the upcoming Mario Kart 3DS. If Nintendo really wants to shake away some coverage from Microsoft and Sony’s upcoming console launches maybe they should throw in a brief teaser for Smash Bros for WiiU and 3DS.

You’ll be able to catch the Nintendo Direct through this link at 8 A.M PST!

Monolith Soft Developing Open World Xeno Series Game

Posted on June 11, 2013 by Les Major

Seemingly titled X, Monolith Soft is working on a new game that seems to be in or related to the Xenoblade series. This game is an open world title that looks like it has lots of exploration in a wonderful and detailed world. I’m definitely interested in seeing how this one turns out. Of course, all of Nintendo’s main news is awesome, but X was a pleasant surprise!

Check out the trailer after the break for a look at the wild world outdoors, a futuristic city, and even humanoid mecha from the game.Read More

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Reborn E3 Trailer

Posted on June 11, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Link’s debut on Nintendo’s latest home console is of course an HD port of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. The game was announced last summer, and Nintendo gave us a four minute trailer during their E3 Direct live-stream earlier this morning.

Unlike other Wiiu games, which were straight ports of older titles, this version of The Wind Waker has been substantially upgraded. New textures, bloom lighting and other graphical touches that weren’t on the GameCube really breathe new  life into this nearly 10 year old game.

Wind Waker Reborn will run in native 1080P, features Nintendo Gamepad integration (replacing the previously GBA -required Tingle Tuner) and will be available in North America in October. Check out the latest trailer after the jump.Read More

Mario Kart 8 Slides On To Wii U In Spring 2014

Posted on June 11, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Equip your best turtle shell and get ready to practice your power slide because Mario Kart 8 for the Nintendo Wii U has been announced. The latest entry in the long running franchise is set for release during the Spring of 2014!

Mario Kart 8 on the surface looks like an amalgamation of Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7. Motorcycles and hang gliders return from each respective game but that isn’t the only trick NIntendo has up its sleeve. A new anti-gravity mechanic allows Mario, Yoshi, Peach & Crew to race along the walls, underwater and even upside down on the bottom of tracks!

Check out Iwata-San’s explanation of Mario Kart 8’s gameplay after the jump, We’ve also got an embedded trailer shown seperately during Nintendo’s E3 live-stream.
