Miitomo maintence tonight ahead of big update

Nintendo revealed some information today that Miitomo will be down for maintenance tonight. The maintenance work will take place between February 8th at 11:00 p.m. ET until February 9th at 5:00 a.m. ET.

The maintenance is being conducted to prepare for an upcoming big update. After maintenance is completed, the app can be updated to the newest version of Miitomo. During the maintenance period Miitomo won’t be available.

No worries, though. Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes are still a thing.

Miitomo updated to version 2.1

On Thursday morning Nintendo rolled out a minor update to Miitomo, with the update going live at 6:00 AM Eastern time. The update brings the application to version 2.1 and introduces a few new features to the game.

With version 2.1 you can now share what your Sidekick Mii characters think. It’s not just your main Mii who can answer questions anymore and your Sidekick Mii characters can too. To be honest I never really got around to creating a sidekick me, but maybe I should get around to that now. I’ll have to be sure to give them plenty of personality.

Nintendo launching Kirby x Miitomo Retweet event and items

On September 15th Miitomo is going to get a little pink. And round.

Nintendo is launching Kirby inspired items in the mobile app, and it kicks off with a retweet event. There will be no shortage of Kirby-themed items for your Mii character to wear so you can show off that Kirby flair!

All Miitomo users will receive a KIRBY CAFÉ logo tee for their Mii character to wear if enough the retweet target of 20,000 retweets is reached. And since this is a global event, retweets from all three main Nintendo twitter accounts will count towards the goal. The tweets are the ones that contain the hashtag #Miitomo_Kirby_RT. They’re embedded below.

Within an hour of the tweets, they were retweeted nearly 3,000 times. The retweet period runs until September 12th, 2016 at 10:00 PM ET.

The Legend of Zelda x Miitomo retweet event

After the successful Splatoon x Miitomo retweet event, Nintendo is at ait again. This latest retweet event will cross over Nintendo’s mobile application with The Legend of Zelda.

All Miitomo users will receive a “Link’s new hair wig” if at least 10,000 retweets are reached from one of three official tweets from Nintendo’s accounts with the hashtag #Miitomo_Zelda_RT. If 20,000 retweets are reached then all users will also a “Link wig” for their Mii character.

The deadline for the retweets was set at June 13th, 2016 at 10:59 a.m. ET, but as of now that number has already been blown out of the water. Being a worldwide retweet event the total retweets are being combined.

Combined retweets so far have already reached 32,000 retweets.

Miitomo reaches 10 million worldwide users

Nintendo provided some updates for multiple games this morning, with some news about their first mobile application: Miitomo.

Nintendo reported that their first app for smartphones and tablets has surpassed 10 million unique users worldwide. The free-to-start social experience app launched in Japan on March 17th and in a variety of other countries, including Canada, on March 31st.

In the United States, Miitomo reached #1 free app status in its various online stores shortly after release. As well more than 20 million Miifotos have been created.

Surprise, The Internet Loves Miitomo – Combining Miis & Cats Is The Best Thing Ever!

The internet loves adorable kitty cats and memes, right? Well, we can add Nintendo’s first mobile title Miitomo to that list as well, for the time being. The company’s first mobile offering is currently trending in top 10 on Twitter with over 135K tweets about the game. Sadly over on Facebook the story isn’t exactly the same, as of publication time Miitomo is not trending. However, for those who doubted Nintendo’s presence carrying over into the mobile space, this just shows that there is an appetite for Nintendo content on smartphones.

Miitomo, My Nintendo, Enhanced web eShop Launches in the U.S. on March 31st

Miitomo reaches 1 million downloads in Japan; Could it be released this week in North America?

With Nintendo of America set to announce the launch date for Miitomo any day now, Nintendo of Japan recently issued a statement of the initial success of the app in Japan.

In the first three days Miitomo of release, Miitomo has been downloaded over 1 million times in Japan. The app was released for iOS and Android this past Friday, March 18th.

While no official date has yet been set for over here, Nintendo’s timeline is listed as late March. And by a look at the calendar we,re now in the final third of the month. If NOA follows the same Friday release strategy as back East, we could see the app available as early As Friday.

Miitomo Launches in Japan March 17th

Nintendo announced late Thursday via Twitter that they will roll out Miitomo in Japan next week. The app will launch for iOS and Android.

Miitomo is a free-to-start social experience that lets you spark conversations with your friends in a whole new way and uses Nintendo’s Mii characters, which first debuted with the launch of Wii Sports in 2006. More than 200 million Mii characters currently exist across Nintendo systems worldwide. To get started, users can quickly create a Mii character, customizing its facial features, eyes, hair, as well as voice and personality. Users can also use the camera of their smartphone or tablet to snap a photo that will be translated into Mii form, or they can simply import their Mii from the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS systems using a QR Code.

Registration For Nintendo’s New Account System Is Live

Nintendo’s new account system, which is expected to be a unified way to connect the Wii U and 3DS, as well as Nintendo’s upcoming next-generation hardware codenamed NX, has begun accepting registrations via the official Nintendo Account website. Although no official notice has been released by Nintendo indicating the account system is available, we were able to create a Nintendo Account and link existing Nintendo Network IDs without any issue. The Nintendo Account is expected to be Nintendo’s multi-generational account system that links together existing hardware with future hardware while also connecting in mobile devices – a new market that Nintendo has pursued interest in.

The account system opened for registrations in Japan last December and included the ability to sign-up and link existing Nintendo Network IDs as well as various social media accounts to the new Nintendo Account and use your Nintendo Account to purchase games or add-ons from the eShop remotely, as well as a 10% discount per 1,000-yen spent in the eShop. No word on if the discount program will come to North America with Nintendo Account’s arrival here, but after Nintendo promised their new account system would provide an alternate reward program to the now-closed Club Nintendo, it’s hard to imagine there won’t be some kind of customer incentive program in our region.

It’s likely that the Nintendo Account will be used in some form when Miitomo, Nintendo’s upcoming first entry into the mobile game market, is released. A tweet from the Serkan Toto, CEO of Tokyo-based gaming consultancy company Kantan Games, suggests that pre-registrations for Miitomo will begin shortly in Japan.

No details regarding the specifics of the Nintendo Account in North America have been announced by Nintendo of America, but when details are posted, we’ll be sure to update you on them!

Miitomo, My Nintendo to Launch this March

Nintendo outlined its launch plans for both Miitomo, the company’s first smartphone app, as well as their new loyalty rewards program “My Nintendo” today.

Nintendo’s first app made exclusively for smart devices, Miitomo, will launch in North America in March for both iOS and Android phones and tablets.

Starting February 17th, people will be able to pre-register for Miitomo by signing up for the new Nintendo Account service using their existing email, social media accounts or current Nintendo Network IDs. People who pre-register will be among the first to be notified about the availability of Miitomo when it launches in March.

Nintendo will offer a special Miitomo bonus to anyone who signs up for a Nintendo Account between February 17th and launch.

Miitomo is a social experience that uses Nintendo’s Mii characters, which first debuted on the Wii console, to engage friends in a lighthearted and welcoming environment. Users can spark fun conversations and learn more about each other by answering questions such as “What song has been stuck in your head lately?”, “Do you believe in aliens?”, or even “If you saw a nose hair sticking out of your friend’s nose, what would you do?” Users can also easily take and share photos featuring their Mii with the Miifoto feature. Nintendo’s new My Nintendo rewards program will launch alongside Miitomo in March, and will be able to connect with the app.
