The short animated film is set in Winston’s lab and delves into his past, showing where he got his start as a young ape. It also brings a bit more clarity to why the heroes of Overwatch are active again.

Nintendo censors some games on Miiverse, but not in the way you think

Posted on March 21, 2016 by Jason Nason

Since Nintendo launched Miiverse I have to admit that I love it. Not just talking about games with other Nintendo gamers, but also sharing screenshots of the game. I don’t really go to Miiverse looking for gameplay help and I don’t really use it much as a forum to talk about games; my focus with Miiverse is taking and sharing screenshots of my games.

Nearly every game that was made after the implementation of Miiverse supports this. But not all of them, and it seems to be hit and miss as to what games don’t.

I recently picked up Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson for the Nintendo 3DS. When I hit the (home) button on my 3DS and tapped on Miiverse I found that this game doesn’t support Miiverse screenshots, despite the fact that the previous game in the series Senran Kagura Burst does.

Why?

New Doom Trailer Shows Off All Available Multiplayer Modes

Posted on March 21, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Doom Alpha

id Software and Bethesda games today revealed the many different game modes that players will be able to experience in DOOM’s online multiplayer.  Below is a brief description of some of the modes I found the interesting:

First up in this new trailer is Soul Harvestwhich rewards players not for kills but for collecting a soul token that spawns upon a player’s death. Like kill confirmed from the Call of Duty franchise and Headhunter from Halo: Reach this could mean hunting down the player with the highest number of souls to snag an easy victory or jumping in at just the right minute to collect a fresh soul. Next up is

Next up is Freeze Tag is very similar to the game we all played as children, make contact with your opponents (via bullets) to freeze them in place. Other friendly players can unfreeze their buddies by making contact with  shooting their friends in the face.

Warpath is a single target king of the hill variant with a very narrow pathway to the objective. To complicate things a demon rune continuously spawns, allowing one of the teams to control a hellish demonic creature like the Reever, able to do massive amounts of damage to their opponents. The team that controls the hill the longest wins the match.

Team Deathmatch – I shouldn’t need to explain this FPS staple.

Doom will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on May 13th. id Software will be holding a closed beta between March 31st and April 3rd for those who purchased Wolfenstein: The New Order back in 2014. Maker sure to check out Bethesda’s official site for a lot more information on these multiplayer modes, it’s almost time to get fragging.

While no official date has yet been set for over here, Nintendo’s timeline is listed as late March. And by a look at the calendar we,re now in the final third of the month. If NOA follows the same Friday release strategy as back East, we could see the app available as early As Friday.

It doesn’t matter if the NX is a failure Nintendo will go on

Guest post by SZKO

Have you ever heard of the term “Golden Parchute”? Well if not, a Golden Parachute is basically a contract between a C-level executive and a company that says if the executive screws up in running the company and gets fired then they will be paid out some arbitrarily high amount of money. This allows the executive to make bold decisions that hopefully will steer the company into making giant piles of money that the executive may not otherwise make because they are playing it safe. Having a giant pile of cash to fall back and to draw upon if your ideas screw up is a huge boon to an executive and allows the executive to go in new directions and make fun, interesting, and hopefully very financially rewarding decisions.

Final Fantasy XIV / Phantasy Star Online 2 Crossover Announced

Posted on March 21, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

FFXIV X PSO2

Two super popular MMORPG games will be coming together for a collaborative event later this summer. A small bit of the world of Eorezea from Square Enix’s popular Final Fantasy XIV will come to SEGA’s galactic sci-fi MMORPG Phantasy Star Online in the form of new equipable items based upon the FFXIV Miqote race and an Odin boss fight encounter.

FFXIV producer Naoki Yoshida (known within the FFXIV community as Yoshi-P) made a special guest appearance at today’s Phantasy Star Online 2 fan event in Tokyo alongside the surprise announcement. The crowd in attendance reportedly began chanting “Yoshi OH OH OH OH OH” as he took the stage at the end of the PSO2 celebration announcements held on the main stage.

Alongside the announcement Square Enix / SEGA released a collaborative trailer that showcases the Odin boss fight. In it we can see an entire raid party take on the iconic black armor clad Final Fantasy boss, doing their best to use PSO2’s energy based weapon against their imposing, horse riding opponent. Ultimately the entire party falls victim to Odin’s iconic zantetsuken attack, which wipes out the entire party in one swift hit.

No word if FFXIV will be getting PSO2 cross over items, however, that game’s fanfest isn’t until later this year. As of right now, PSO2 isn’t even available in the West. The PSO2 X FFXIV crossover items / encounter are expected to be released sometime in Summer 2016.
