Nier: Automata Director Yoko Taro Collaborates With Tiny Metal Developers For Promo

Posted on December 5, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Get ready for the promotional crossover you didn’t know you needed in your life – Director of Nier: Automata Yoko Taro alongside the Director / Producer of the upcoming Tiny Metal Hiroki Yura, promoting the upcoming December 21st release of Tiny Metal on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.  It is clear from the get-go that Yoko Taro didn’t play more than 5 minutes of the tutorial, as he states as much several times throughout the 2-minute video. When asked to comment about the soundtrack, Taro unabashedly admits that he couldn’t really hear it during his brief gameplay session but promises that it must be amazing. To be honest, I’m not discouraged or even criticizing Yoko Taro here,

H1Z1 Receives Major Update That Includes New Map and Daily Challenges

Posted on November 20, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Daybreak Studios’ long running battle royal title H1Z1 (formally H1Z1: Just Survive) received a major update late last week that adds a brand-new combat focused map called Combat Zone, new daily challenges and a whole lot of miscellaneous bug fixes / quality of life improvements that may help players climb the ranks and be the last one standing.  Combat Zone differs from the regular wide open forest area map in a number of ways: first and foremost there is no parachuting into position. Instead all players start already on the ground with a full loadout of equipment, so there’s no more rushing to find a shotgun, pistol or rusty work.. You know whatever happens to be lying around.

Microtransactions Outpacing Game Sales Sets a Worrying Precedent

Posted on November 9, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

You might have already heard the news yesterday: Ubisoft mentioned on their Investor’s Call that “Player Recurring Investments” (read: microtransactions) have outpaced the sale of full price and discounted digital copies of their games for the first time ever. In terms of raw numbers of the 343 million euros the company made from their digital businesses 175 million Euros were the result of “Player Recurrent Investments” (which include microtransactions, add-on DLCs, Rainbow Six Siege Season Passes, subscriptions and those sorts of things). The 83% rise in microtransaction purchases over the past year for Ubisoft could signal the tipping point where small recurring payments within the AAA games

World of Final Fantasy Coming To Steam This November

Posted on November 1, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Chibi versions of some of our favorite Final Fantasy characters will migrate onto a brand new platform, Windows PC, with the re-release of World of Final Fantasy on Steam later this month.  Exploring the world of Grymoire as twins Reynn & Lann as they aim to capture classic FF monsters is an enjoyable and light-hearted romp, in my experience.  While I have yet to finish World of Final Fantasy on either PS4 or PS Vita yet, the time I did spend with the game was not only enjoyable but the writing (and generous amount of puns) left me with a smile on my face.   Players who purchase the Day One edition on November 21st will get access

Developer nDreams Brings Bloody Zombies to Xbox One, PS4, Oculus and HTC Vive This September

Posted on August 4, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

I probably lost you at the headline… Zombies and Virtual Reality? Is there a combination of things that been overdone in the past few years than immersive goggles and the undead? Well nDreams’ Bloody Zombies isn’t your typical wave based Zombie FPS title that has risen to flood the steam store as of late. It is more of a VR enhanced title with a cartoony art style and from the promotional trailers and materials looks like it will be one to keep an out on. Bloody Zombies is a cel-shaded 2.5D brawler with colorful cartoony graphics reminiscent of Cel Damage

Posted on July 29, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

The world of free to play games can be daunting with the amount of sheer choice available and if you’re not careful you might end up choosing a game that is more advertisement for the in-game cash shop than a proper video game. Thousands of Steam users – almost 8,000 concurrently at the moment of the writing of this article – have decided to download and try out this previously under the radar free to play shooter. On a weekend where Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is free to play for everyone, what could this imported and 3-year-old FPS from

Doomfist Arrives On Live Servers With New Overwatch Patch!

Posted on July 27, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Overwatch’s 25th hero, Doomfist, has finished his testing phase on the PTR and is now live on the PC and console versions of the game. Alongside the release of Doomfist – who has been adjusted considerably since his initial reveal – this latest patch brings a number of changes to player mobility across a number of heroes and voice lines for both D.VA and Genji. Doomfist I’ve covered Doomfist in the past two weeks a couple of times. So to get a quick impression of what he is capable of, here is a summary of his abilities that I posted
