Fallout: NV Mod, Autumn Leaves, In The Running For Mod Of The Year

Posted on December 23, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

It’s undeniable that Fallout 4 is taking up lot of the communities’ time given that the game offers hundreds of hours of wasteland themed entertainment.  If you’re looking to take a break from Boston perhaps you should consider the fan made Fallout: Autumn Leaves for your next Vault Dweller survival fix.

Autumn Leaves is a fan designed modification that tasks players with exploring a centuries old library located somewhere in the Mohave.  The player will have to question several different sentient A.Is who reside in the library in order to find out what really happened there so many years ago. Autumn Leaves isn’t focused on combat but rather giving the player choice via dialogue and discovering the consequences of their choices.

With this unique take on the Fallout formula, over 2000 professionally voiced lines of dialogue and five different endings it is no surprise that Fallout: Autumn Leaves is currently in the running for ModDB’s Mod of the Year Award. Why not head on over to their ModDB page and give them Autumn Leaves a download? The latest version of Autumn Leaves was released yesterday!

Hideo Kojima and Konami: “You Ever Dance with the Devil in the Pale Moonlight?”

Posted on December 23, 2015 by Kenny Keelan

Seems only fitting that this article be titled with an older movie reference to Tim Burton’s Batman, honestly, as it seems Hideo Kojima and Konami have had the same kind of symbiotic and rather tumultuous relationship in the past as Konami was the one company that would give Kojima a chance back in the 80’s and, now, with the post-Metal Gear Solid V dramatics, they will be the ones to finally see him go and make something of himself elsewhere. While there’s word that Kojima is under an NDA about his departure from Konami, there is plenty of speculation as to why he is not longer with the company, most of that speculation following the line of thought that Konami is the new video game company that’s easy to hate and point fingers at, somewhat relieving Electronic Arts of that position. While there’s a lot of truth to what’s being spouted among the common gaming community, I think that things are quite a bit more simpler than people give the situation credit for and I find that Kojima may have had just as much a hand in how things ended up as Konami did.

Posted on December 23, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

New Standalone Entry in Acclaimed “Trails” RPG Franchise Features Vast Improvements on Series’ Formula, Cross-Save Compatibility Between PS3 and “PSVita” System Versions; Makes Western Debut with Limited “Lionheart Edition”

XSEED Games, the independent-minded console publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today announced that the rich, standalone entry in developer Nihon Falcom’s acclaimed Trails series of roleplaying games, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, is now available in North America for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system. Taking place on the same continent as the fan-favorite Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel delivers a bounty of new features and series firsts as well as an expertly told storyline that both newcomers and longtime Trails veterans alike will equally enjoy.

Alongside the standard edition, the limited “Lionheart Edition” is also available in stores, containing an art book comprised of 140 pages of art from both this game and its upcoming 2016 sequel, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II, plus a 1.5” emblem pin representing the Erebonian Empire, all packaged in a custom collectible box designed to house both titles.

Known in Japan as Eiyuu Densetsu: Sen no Kiseki, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel builds on the beloved Trails franchise by improving on the series’ formula while delivering the same sort of well-crafted narrative that series fans have come to expect. Assuming the roles of specially-elected elite military students, players will unravel the enigma that is the Erebonian Empire’s inner political quagmire as they delve deep into the expansive lore that has become synonymous with the series. Best of all, players can enjoy the game’s masterfully told tale on both the “PSVita” and PS3™ systems simultaneously with Cross-Save functionality, allowing for play at home or on the go should a player own both versions.

As the central characters bond with fellow initiates and enjoy life at Thors Military Academy, they earn new abilities in battle via the game’s tactical turn-based Combat Link System, netting benefits such as healing and guarding bonuses. In between skirmishes, players can upgrade their party members with the newly-developed “ARCUS” system – a streamlined version of the classic “Orbment” magic system from previous titles – allowing for greater access to abilities and quicker customization.

Published by XSEED Games in North America, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is now available in North America for PS3™ and “PSVita” systems. The limited “Lionheart Edition” has a suggested retail price of $49.99, and the standard edition of the game is available in stores for $39.99, as well as digitally via the PlayStation®Store. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel has been rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB. NIS America is publishing the PAL region version of the game.

Blood Gulch comes to CS:GO

Posted on December 23, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

In a move most people would find confusing at least, and odd and frustrating at most, modder Itszu has created a CS: GO custom map modelled after the iconic halo level Blood Gulch.  Painstakingly reproduced the map has only a few changes here and there to still be playable in CS:GO, like bomb sites and buy zones. Other than that the Halo: CE fan favorite is completely recreated. Itszu tells us on his steam works page

“All level geometry is hand-done, including brushwork and displacements. Textures have been modified as needed to support Source’s unique texture parameters. All scenery (rocks, trees) ported with Wall Worm Model Tools from Gearbox’s level assets for Halo: Custom Edition, with hand-done custom collisions to conform to Source’s convex requirements. Some textures are heavily modified from the original, and others are entirely new due to differences in texture tech between halo’s Blam engine and Source 2013.”

If you want to pick up the mod go check out the Steam works page, its playable in custom games of CS:GO.

“If you can match against us, you’ll be racing against some of the very same developers who created the Sparrow Racing League,” Bungie said in an announcement. “This is your chance to beat us at our own game. If you can place in the top three, we’ll deliver [the emblem above] to your Postmaster. Every race has a trophy.”

The event runs for a period of two hours, ending at 6 PM PST / 9 PM EST. Be on the lookout for Bungie community managers “DeeJ” and “Cozmo” on Xbox Live, as you’ll need to match up with them for a shot to win. However, it may not be them actually behind the controller.
