Darksiders Is Finally Set To Be Auctioned Off…Along With Other THQ Properties

Posted on February 27, 2013 by Joshua Rust

It’s never easy hearing about a publisher, developer, or anyone in the gaming industry (let alone anyone at all) lose their jobs. Such was the case with THQ as the publishing titan came crashing down. Speculation could be pointed at their failed attempt to make uDraw the next big thing, but just one thing isn’t the cause of their unfortunate demise.

Just a short while ago most of the bigger name franchises were auctioned off, such as Saint’s Row, Homefront, & Metro. To my biggest surprise, Darksiders was nowhere on the list of being picked up by anyone. Granted the second game wasn’t that much different that the first one, but it was a solid game.

It looks like Darksiders will get a second chance at redemption as the rest of THQ’s properties will auctioned off soon and will be in their new homes before the end of April. Here’s hoping that Platinum Games picks up Darksiders…I’m willing to bet they could pull off an amazing sequel. I really wouldn’t mind someone picking up Full Spectrum Warrior as well and making a sequel/do-over.

For a full list of all the properties that are up for grabs, keep reading after the break.

Insomniac Games Files Trademark ‘Sunset Overdrive’

Posted on February 27, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Nothing and I mean nothing gets by you all on the internet. Insomniac Games has silently registered a trademark for Sunset Overdrive. Even though the studio has went on to publicly announce that it will not be continuing the Resistance franchise, they do have the upcoming (recently delayed) action packed co-op shooter Fuse which is setting at a tentative Spring 2013 release date.

While nothing specific has been announced on Sunset Overdrive, the details from the filed trademark list “computer game software” and “entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line computer game”. So while Insomniac Games is “done” with Resistance, they apparently do have something in the pipeline for us. It’s just a matter of when it will be officially unveiled. We all know that GDC is coming up along with E3…so those look like opportune moments for us to hear more about Sunset Overdrive.

We’ll keep our ears open and report back when we find anything concrete about this potential game.

Edge of Twilight: Athyr Above Coming To iOS Soon

Posted on February 27, 2013 by Joshua Rust

I don’t know if many of you have even heard of Edge Of Twilight, but I’ve been following this series of games for a long time – in fact since about 2009. Yeah, it’s been that long. Well the original game was canceled back in 2009 and the studio went under. Well, through a new partnership a reformed FUZZYEYES studio arose in 2011 and not only has promised to deliver us an Edge Of Twilight game, but several of them across various platforms.

For those unfamiliar with Edge Of Twilight, here is how the FUZZYEYES site describes it:

“The EDGE OF TWILIGHT series is a multiplatform, diverse-genre series of steampunk titles, all taking place in the same world, one in which night and day exist as separate realms. The series will not commit to a set genre, but instead focus on a set world, flushing out the characters, world, and story throughout the series. The first title, which is set for release in late 2012, will carry the name of the series itself, EDGE OF TWILIGHT, and will focus around Lex, a half-breed who can bridge the gap between the realms of darkness and light. This forthcoming title will be an action/adventure game with heavy focus on gameplay, story, and puzzles.”

New Deus Ex in the Works?

Posted on February 27, 2013 by Jason Bassett

Dues Ex: Human Revolution released in 2011 with great fanfare. Not only was the game revered for it’s great stealth gameplay, but excellent narrative. Since then, people have been clamoring for something new for Adam Jensen and Deus Ex…do we have what we’re looking for?

Well if you head over to NeoGAF, you’ll find that Square Enix has just trademarked the name “Deus Ex: Human Defiance”. Currently, the thread at NeoGAF suggests a few things. One of which, it could be a direct sequel to Human Revolution. Defiance could also be an HD remake of the original name. Putting the first two letters of the sub-name together, you will get HD.

Of course this is all wild speculation at the moment. Stay tuned as we hear more on this game in the future.
