The Co-Founders Of BioWare Are Leaving

Posted on September 18, 2012 by Seung Lee

Some bad news to follow after the announcement of Dragon Age III yesterday: BioWare’s co-founders, Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka, are officially leaving both the studio and the gaming industry. These sudden departures aren’t without good reason, however. The two men have made blog posts which help clarify why exactly they’re leaving.

While we await the release of GTA V, why not kick it old school? Read More

Posted on September 18, 2012 by Les Major

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a true sequel to the original DS title, following a similar flow and feeling to the overall game. If you’ve been eager for more levels to explore in the traditional Mario platformer style, this game is for you.

There is a lot of content we’ve come to know and love in Mario games, as well as a mix of new surprises here. There’s red coins to collect in a short time frame, three star coins per level, and invisible blocks scattered about ready to be discovered. Building on that the prominent feature of this sequel is different methods of collecting coins.Read More

Fable: The Journey Demo Hits The Xbox Marketplace Today

Posted on September 17, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Fable: The Journey has been under fire from the start of its announcement with Kinect. I’ll be the first to say I was skeptical at first. I think as gamers we haven’t had those “core games” brought to Kinect the way it was first advertised by Microsoft. But when one of their bigger titles got announced as Kinect only, the internet went up in flames.

I’m not saying that I will or won’t like this Fable game. I’ve liked all of them to a degree so far, but I a willing to give this one a chance. So, can you all do the same? After all, you can try the demo that has launched today on the Xbox Marketplace. At the time of this article, I’ve yet to download it yet but will be doing so soon.

You can find the Fable: The Journey (at 1.22 GB) demo by clicking this link. Let us know what you think after you’ve played it!

The developers have also released a new trailer for the game, which you can watch by reading more. Rest assured, it makes LBP on the PSP look like rubbish.

Insomniac Games Shows Off Fuse Trailer & Details

Posted on September 17, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Fuse, formerly Overstrike, is being developed by Insomniac Games. This makes their first title to make the leap over to Xbox 360 (still hoping for Resistance…). A lot of new information, including an interview at CVG and a trailer, has been released for your eyes!

Ted Price, CEO of Insomniac sat down for an interview with CVG. Here is what he had to say about it.

Fuse demonstrates what Insomniac does best: outlandish and gruesome weapons design, over-the-top action and a touch of humor. We’re especially excited to see how players utilize lethal teamwork by combining their Fuse weapons to stop a deadly arms race.

This is a personal issue for me, because I really like playing games with high-impact weapons”. “Where you feel like you’ve done a lot of damage, and you’ve ruined that enemy’s day, and we weren’t doing that with the weapons we had before. Even though in the video they looked cool, they weren’t turning people on here and they weren’t turning people on that we had come in and play the game.” When the team made the change to center on fuse and its offensive potential (rather than what were essentially just four support abilities), “it was like a breath of fresh air around here, because we finally got to let loose and experiment, go much further.

Sonic Adventure 2 & Nights into Dreams Release October 2nd

Posted on September 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Sega continues their recent trend of releasing HD ports of previous generation classics with the release of Sonic Adventure 2 HD and Nights into Dreams HD early next month. Both of these games will be available individually for $9.99 on Playstation Network and Xbox on October 2nd & 5th respectively.

Similar to the DX Addon for the HD Port of Sonic Adventure the sequel will have an optional $5 add-on. The “battle mode” addon allows players to gain access to the previously GameCube exclusive multiplayer modes. Nights Into Dreams also has its own expansion content, Christmas Nights, an add-on that was originally available through gaming magazines and special orders. Unlike Battle Mode Christmas Nights will be available free of charge.

I cannot wait to rip up the streets of San Francisco in City Escape, even just for old time’s sake. Sure, the game might be dated but that level makes the $10 entry price worth every penny!

Dragon Age III: Inquisition Made Official

Posted on September 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Rumors have swirled around a third Dragon Age game for months and now we finally have official details. Over on the Bioware Blog Mark Darrah announced that the game has been in some form of production since work on Dragon Age Origins concluded in 2009 and will involve veteran Bioware staff as well as some newcomers.

The game, titled Dragon Age III: Inquisition, will be powered by DICE’s insanely powerful Frostbite 2.0 engine and this will allow players to customize their character armor. Bioware is not ready to talk about the story of the game just yet, and in the past they have said that they didn’t want to announce Dragon Age III until they had “something to show”.

No specific platform was listed for DAIII but presumably it will be coming to Xbox 360, PC and PS3, just like the previous games. Given the rumored late 2013 release of DAIII AND the next Xbox, could Bioware give Microsoft’s latest hardware a boost out of the gate?

Borderlands 2 DLC May Visit The Sand Dunes Star Wars Style

Posted on September 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Speaking at GearBox Software’s Community Day CEO Randy Pitchford gave us a bit of tease as to the content of the upcoming Borderlands 2 DLC. He says that the DLC is insired by the sand cruisers in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Apparently Randy has always wanted to skid along the sand, and just maybe we’ll get to share in this experience digitally with him.

He said:

“I’ve always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a Sand Skiff, I’ve always wanted to do that, and we’ve got some cool stuff that’s along those lines.”

The original Borderlands received 3 downloadable episodes and GearBox plans to continue this tradition by releasing 4 expansions to Borderlands 2 by next June. Borderlands 2 releases tomorrow for the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.

Posted on September 15, 2012 by Joshua Rust

The ESRB has become famous/infamous for revealing new titles. Appearing today on the ESRB site is the Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collectionfor Xbox 360 & Playstation 3.

It is rated T for Teen for Cartoon Violence, Crude Humor, Mild Blood, Use of Tobacco.

Here is the sypnosis as posted on ESRB.com

This is a fighting game in which players engage in one-on-one battles against characters from the Dragon Ball Z universe. Players frequently punch, kick, and use special attacks (e.g., fireballs, colorful energy bursts) to drain opponents’ health. Impact sounds and loud cries of pain can be heard during each battle. Animated cutscenes also contain violent acts, including the depiction of a character chopping a giant creature’s tail. A handful of sequences portray wounded fighters with bruises, cuts, and blood stains on their bodies. One male character’s outfit becomes tattered during combat, exposing part of his buttocks in the process; and a pre-battle sequence also includes instances of crude humor (e.g., “I’m . . . suddenly gettin’ a pain in my gut. Ohh gotta hang . . . on . . . oh” and “Defeat Vegeta within the time limit to make it to the bathroom!”). One arena mode depicts a man smoking from a pipe on its menu screen.

Earth Defense Force 4 Announced With Trailer

Posted on September 14, 2012 by Joshua Rust

If I can say one thing about the Earth Defense Force series…it’s crazy fun. Just announced is the sequel called Earth Defense Force 4 – as of now.

EDF4 boasts co-operative multiplayer for “large numbers of people” and a new female class character called the “Wing Diver”. Apparently she can zip around the map causing all kinds of pest control.

Here is the first trailer for EDF4:
