The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim “Dragonborn” DLC Out Tomorrow – New Details

Posted on December 3, 2012 by Joshua Rust

While we are only a few short hours away from the next DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim releasing, that’s not stopping the media from releasing details about it. There are some spoilers to the story, so stop reading if you don’t want to spoil it for yourself. Out of the whole list, there are new Shouts, Spells, Armor, Locations, Houses to buy, and much much more. This looks to be one of the most ambitious downloads that Bethesda has released yet. No release date has been announced for the PS3/PC versions except early 2013, but the Xbox 360 version launches tomorrow for 1600 MSP.

*Note* All of this information has come from a beta tester, so judge it accordingly.

New Shouts

  • Cyclone – creates a small tornado (that is pretty funny to use)
  • Bend Will – force a dragon to fight with you.
  • Dragon Riding – player hasn’t gotten to this one yet.
  • Dragon Aspect – creates the dragon armor from trailer and gives stronger shouts, stronger melee attacks and summon Ancient Dragonborn to fight with you when you get low on health. Can only be used once per day.
  • Battle Fury – like Elemental Fury but for NPCs

User Video Shows Off Improvements In Boom II BFG Edition

Posted on November 27, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Doom 3 BFG Edition didn’t exactly set the world on fire when it launched last month. Promo’d on Bethesda’s official twitter feed this morning was an impressive user video that shows off some of these changes including some impressive lighting displays that really enhance the dark creepy corridors of the original.

For the uninitiated BFG Edition includes a remixed version of 2004’s Doom III including a brand new set of levels, polished graphics & reworked textures and game-play balance changes such as the ability to wield the flashlight while weilding your weapon of choice. It also includes the original Doom and Doom III with achievements (or trophies).

At press time this video doesn’t have many views but let’s change that, shall we?

Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials Comes December 11th

Posted on November 27, 2012 by Jesse Lord

Ready for a return trip through the city of Dunwall?  Hope so, as Bethesda have just announced the release date for Dunwall City Trials, the first DLC package to be released for the stealth assassination game Dishonored, which we had a great time reviewing earlier this year (seriously, it’s a great game – get it if you haven’t yet!).  Dunwall City Trials is not a storyline expansion, but rather a series of challenge maps.  Straight from Bethesda’s press release:

Dunwall City Trials will include 10 challenge maps that will test and track your combat, stealth and mobility skills. Creatively combine your supernatural abilities, weapons and gadgets to eliminate as many targets as possible, fight off waves of tallboys, guards, weepers and thugs, or take out targets in a non-stop run of drop assassinations. Dunwall City Trials also features a new set of achievements and trophies as well as a global online leaderboard.

The expansion pack is going to be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, and will cost 400 Microsoft points or $4.99 for PC/PS3.  Will you be picking this up?  Let us know!

Dunwall City Trials DLC Announced For Dishonored

Posted on October 26, 2012 by Joshua Rust

The first of three planned DLC for the well received Dishonored is titled ‘Dunwall City Trials’. The Dunwall City Trials has been give a tentative release date of December with no exact date to pin it down to and will be priced at 400 MSP (or $4.99).

The Dunwall City Trials will offer: “ten distinct trials await challengers,” says the blurb, “including an arena battle against waves of enemy AI, a gravity-defying run of drop assassinations, and a race against the clock. ”

“Dunwall City Trials also features a whole new set of achievements and trophies as well as a global online leaderboard that will establish the greatest assassins for each challenge.”

In addition to the Dunwall City Trails DLC, the other two DLC will be story-driven and released sometime in 2013.  The second DLC will put you in the shoes of Daud, the leader of a group of supernatural assassins.

“Make your way through new Dunwall locales and discover Daud’s own set of weapons, powers and gadgets in this story-driven campaign. How you play and the choices you make will impact the final outcome…”

Story-driven content? Heck yes please! If you haven’t picked up Dishonored yet and are still hanging on the fence about it, check out our review here. I’m really enjoying it a lot, it’s one of the best new IP’s to come out this generation.

TES V: Skyrim DLC Leaked? Possible Dragon Mounts?

Posted on October 16, 2012 by Joshua Rust

If any truth is behind the information hidden away in the PC version of the most recent patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, it appears that the next DLC could be called “Dragonborn” and feature ride-able dragons.

OXM reports:

“Quest markers for Solstheim, Telvanni, Castle Karstaag, Raven Rock and Miraak Temple have been discovered, alongside entries for what appear to be four new armour varieties – Bonemold, Chitin, Nordic and Stalhrim. Finally, there are files for the aforesaid dragon-riding animations. Looks like you’ll be casting spells from dragon-back, too. “

This could be all too real. I’m sure with the leak, that Bethesda will announce something concrete soon. If the patch files aren’t enough proof of this, Zenimax (parent company of Bethesda) trademarked the name “Dragonborn” earlier this year.

What say you about some dragon-riding-spell-casting action?

Dishonored | Review

Posted on October 8, 2012 by Jesse Lord

What would you do with a drunken whaler,
What would you do with a drunken whaler,
What would you do with a drunken whaler,
Early in the morning?

High towers rise up, overlooking long-neglected ruins.  Plague runs rampant throughout many of the city’s districts.  Houses and apartments are fitted with reinforced blast doors, the sign of another family lost to the powerful and fatal disease.  Train cars trundle about down the narrow streets, brimming with canvas-wrapped bodies.  Corrupt and power-drunk city watchmen prowl the streets, looking for any opportunity to inflict pain and suffering on the survivors.  Huge whaling ships float by in the harbors, off to search for more of their bounty and it’s life-and-power-giving properties.

Welcome to Dunwall.

See the Back-Story of Dishonored’s Dunwall

Posted on September 25, 2012 by Jesse Lord

For those of us who can’t get enough Dishonored information (guilty!), I am pleased to present to you all the following video.  The first in the three-part “Tales from Dunwall” video series, The Awakening is set to give a further glimpse into the world that has been created to contain the storyline of the supernatural assassin.  A whaling town teeming with Plague, Dunwall is a city of intrigue, oppression and deception.

From the email I received, I discovered that the video was created by Psyop.  Each episode was predominantly produced by hand, which I think is fantastic, and it shows. Each frame was a fully rendered style frame, which was then enhanced with 3D elements to add to the painterly atmosphere, dimension and depth of each shot.  But enough about the details – let’s get right to the video!
