Hands-On With The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes | Preview

Posted on October 18, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Nintendo held a special online-only stress test for their upcoming multiplayer focused entry in the Zelda franchise – The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. Codes were distributed by the Big N’s mailing list and select 3DS owners were able to participate in a maximum of 15 hours with the game across three different levels with random strangers. I quickly grabbed my Kokiri sword and green tunic and ventured into the world of Hyrule for a few hours over the course of this weekend and I’d love to share some of my initial impressions.Read More

The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes Special Demo Available To Select 3DS Owners

Make sure to check your inbox and spam folders because Nintendo has sent out redeemable codes for a special demo version of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes.

According to the email that Nintendo sent out to those lucky few were selected for this special demo this demo is only playable with three other people locally and limited online play during certain hours. That means that there is no included single-player or online multiplayer (outside of Nintendo’s pre-defined hours) for those who don’t have three friends with 3DS systems readily available.

Here’s the online co-op times for the demo:

10/16: 5 PM – 10 PM PT10/17: 5 PM – 10 PM PT10/18: 7 AM – 12 PM PT

Everyone who received a code also received 2 bonus codes to give out to their friends. Codes have also been given out on the GameFaqs forums, so if you didn’t get a code you might have some luck there.

The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes is one of the few multiplayer focused entries into the series. In it three players must work together to solve puzzles and defeat bosses. If you chose to play Triforce Heroes you’ll be playing with two “dolls” that you can control with the system’s touchscreen.

Trifroce Heroes was originally revealed at this past June’s E3 and will be released to retail next Thursday October 22nd.

Posted on October 8, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

If you are like me and grew up playing Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 on the original SEGA Genesis than you might welcome the news that SEGA has released a brand new 3DS home screen theme centered around their classic 16-bit console.

Both the Genesis and Game Gear themes are complete with the timeless “SEGGGGA!” Scream that became so iconic in the ’90s. Both themes are priced at $1.99 USD in the E-Shop.

Other hardware themes will be released in the coming months. No word yet on exact European release.

SEGA Details Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX

Posted on June 30, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Rhythm game fans have reason to cheer with the September release of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX on the Nintendo 3DS. The popular vocaloid makes her western 3DS debut with the release of this popular Japanese music game, which features over 47 different songs to jam along too.

Gameplay consists of pressing the face buttons (ABXY) or using the system’s touchscreen in time with the different tracks. On harder difficulties players are required to hold the designated button longer or spin the stylus in circles, if the game’s music isn’t keeping you up on your feet the challenge most certainly will.

Jamming out to music isn’t the only attraction Project Mirai has to offer – Players can customize the size, color and behavior of certain on screen queues as well as swap the vocal track on any of the games songs at will. I think one of the coolest features is how Project Mirai uses street pass – you are able to share music videos with one another that display custom messages!

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai will be available on September 8th 2015 for $39.99 USD. Check out a six minute long montage of footage below.

Hyrule Warriors For Nintendo 3DS Leaks Ahead of E3

Posted on June 12, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

A trailer appeared on Tecmo Koei’s official YouTube channel that accidently went live ahead of Nintendo’s upcoming E3 press conference showcasing an unannounced 3DS port of last year’s Hyrule Warriors.

In addition to content found in the 2014 Wii U original version of Hyrule Warriors this new portable edition includes two new playable characters: The King of Red Lions and Tetra from The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker. Apparently the 3DS version also includes some sort of compatibility with Wii U version as well, I am uncertain of the specifics because the leaked trailer is entirely in Japanese.

Even though the original video has been de-listed from Tecmo Koei’s Youtube channel you can find mirrors of it all over the internet, one of which I’ve embedded below. Expect more details in the coming days!

Unlisted Bravely Second: End Layer Trailer Found On SE YouTube Account

Posted on April 1, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

A brand new Japanese trailer for Bravely Second: End Layer has appeared on Square Enix Japan’s YouTube channel. Surprisingly the trailer is currently listed as a private video meaning that it is not currently indexed in the main YouTube gaming category. It is possible that the video was accidently uploaded prematurely so watch it in the embedded player before it gets taken down.

End Layer is the hotly anticipated sequel to last year’s surprise RPG hit Bravely Default for the Nintendo 3DS. Square has developed a few new systems to spice things up for players of the first game while keeping things familiar. Among these new developments is “consecutive chance” system which allows players to chain multiple encounters together with increasing difficulty for a chance at some really rare loot.

In terms of jobs End Layer will offer a whole host of awesome sounding jobs like Pirate, Ninja, Thief and some truly bizarre ones like the Catmaster.

It will be released in Japan on April 23rd.

Take a Look at Monster Hunter 4 In This New Video Walkthrough

Posted on November 19, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Capcom is set to unleash another addictive entry in the Monster Hunter franchise next spring with the release of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for the Nintendo 3DS. MH4 gives players access to enhanced movement with the added ability to climb in any direction as well as giving players the option to grab onto their foes.

The publisher recently released a five minute quest walkthrough that gives players a bit of a look at the game play. Also announce previously was the fact that bounty hunter Samus Aran from the Metroid series will be making an appearance in MH4! It is no wonder the game sold over 1.4 million copies when it was released in Japan earlier this year.

Super Smash Bros for 3DS Surpasses 1 Million Units In US

Posted on November 17, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Nintendo of America announced that Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS has already sold 1.2 million units in the United States. This figure contains both digital and physical copies, in fact Smash is the best selling hand-held title so far in 2014. These fantastic sales figures put it at number 9 in the all time rankings of US 3DS title sales.

The full list of top selling 3DS titles include:

Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 3D Land
New Super Mario Bros 2
Pokemon X  / Pokemon Y
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Super Smash Bros for 3DS
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

If you haven’t checked out Super Smash Bros yet, now is probably the best time to grab the fantastic 3DS rendition of this long running fighting series.  With the WiiU version coming out this coming Friday, November 21st, there’s only six days to get some practice in. There are a lot of reasons why we gave SSB on 3DS a perfect ten in our review.

Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct Coming Tuesday

Posted on April 4, 2014 by Les Major

Eager for more news on Super Smash Bros. the latest in the series coming to both Wii U and 3DS? Nintendo does confirm these will be new details. Any speculation on what could be coming our way? I have a few hopes myself. Dr. Wily perhaps? Who knows! Personally, and it’s a long shot, I’d love to see Wart from Super Mario Bros. 2 the USA version. After all, it is a featured game in the upcoming NES Remix 2 available later this month on the Wii U eShop. The Nintendo Direct will be on Tuesday, April 8th, at 6 p.m. EST and viewable here: http://www.Nintendo.com/Nintendo-Direct

LEGO The Hobbit Officially Announced

Posted on November 25, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Traveller’s Tales, creator of the fantastic LEGO games, has announced today a new LEGO game based off a popular book series that you may have heard of…LEGO The Hobbit. While some may see these as kids games, I’ll have to give TT credit because the last few games (LEGO Batman 2, LEGO Marvel, LEGO Lord of the Rings), have been exceptionally fun – yes, even for a “kids game”.

3DS Focused Nintendo Direct Scheduled for Tomorrow

Posted on November 12, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Everyone might be talking about the impending release of the PlayStation 4 but Nintendo hasn’t forgotten their handheld’s devoted following with the announcement of a Nintendo Direct scheduled for tomorrow. Both Nintendo of America and Nintendo Europe will be simultaneously broadcasting this latest game focused showcase.

Some games that may be highlighted during tomorrow’s stream: Mario Gold 3DS, Bravely Default Fairy, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy and perhaps the upcoming Mario Kart 3DS. If Nintendo really wants to shake away some coverage from Microsoft and Sony’s upcoming console launches maybe they should throw in a brief teaser for Smash Bros for WiiU and 3DS.

You’ll be able to catch the Nintendo Direct through this link at 8 A.M PST!
