Watch Dogs, The Crew, Held Back Until 2014

Hotly anticipated Ubisoft titles Watch Dogs as well as The Crew are being postponed until next year – Spring 2014 for Watch Dogs and an ambiguous fiscal year 2015, meaning it could release as early as April 2014. Ubisoft released a statement concerning the delay. “Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until Spring 2014.”

GTA V Coming To PC In 2014?

The long awaited Grand Theft Auto V is supposedly coming to PC early 2014, according to “multiple industry sources,” Eurogamer reported. This would match the release pattern that was set with Grand Theft Auto IV, which released in April 2008 originally, becoming available for PC in December of the same year.

Battlefield Director Wants To Bring Linux Into Mainstream

DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson has expressed a deep desire to develop games for Linux in an interview with Polygon. “We strongly want to get into Linux for a reason … It took Halo for the first Xbox to kick off and go crazy — usually, it takes one killer app or game and then people are more than willing [to adopt it] — it is not hard to get your hands on Linux, for example, it only takes one game that motivates you to go there.”

Over the weekend a twitter account belonging to Riot Game’ president and co-founder Mark Merrill appears to have been compromised. A hacker using the handle ‘Jason’ took control of Mr.Merrill’s account on Saturday and posted several images and details for a cancelled &unannounced League of Legends trading card game called ‘League of Legends Supremacy’. Supposedly the game had been completed by the folks over at Riot Games but for unknown reasons they decided to scrap the project before announcing it. Assassin’s Creed IV Gets Season’s Pass

Available for $19.99 USD this pass entitles owners to a set of mini-missions, skins, weapons and other optional components. Rumor: GTA V Online To Feature Microtransactions

By exploiting a glitch that allows players to access the store section of Grand Theft Auto V players have gained access to some files stored on RockStar’s servers. These files include a text dump for an item called the  “Red Shark Cash Card”. Valued at $100,000 in-game currency, this virtual stack of cash is good across all of Los Santos! Other users have found a single image (pictured at the end of this article) that hints at a similar “$100,000 Maze Bank” card. Sega Purchases Index Corp, Owners of Atlus, For $141M

Index Corp, the troubled owner of third party publisher Atlus, has agreed to sell off their stake in the popular company to SEGA for the equivalent of $141 million dollars. Should everything go well the newly formed Sega Dream Corporation will take ownership of Index’s intellectual property and business operations no later than November 1st. This acquisition gives SEGA an ever-growing portfolio of long standing game franchises that will surely fit well alongside Sonic, Jet Set Radio and other classics. WayForward Launches Kickstarter for HD Shantae Game

WayForward is the latest game developer to turn to Kickstarter looking to crowd fund their latest project. The game will be a new and original game in the Shantae series and will be in HD for home consoles. WayForward has developed more than 200 licensed titles over the last 23 years, the most recent being Ducktales: Remastered. Megaman-Like Mighty No. 9 Almost Kickstarted Already

The comparison to Mega Man is more than understandable in Mighty No. 9‘s Kickstarter campaign, which has almost reached it’s $900,000 goal. With a team of Mega Man alumni bringing the project to life with Keiji Inafune as the project lead, this looks like the next big thing inspired by the series. Already looking beautiful just from the concept art, Mighty No. 9 stars Beck as the ninth in a line of robots, and the only one who hasn’t gone berzerk from a computer virus affecting mechanized creatures around the world.

Need For Speed Franchise Now In The Hands of EA Ghost

EA’s premier racing franchise has had a bit of an identity crisis the past few years, switching from recent developer Criterion to other studios under the EA umbrella. It looks like a little bit of continuity will be coming to the franchise in future installments starting with the upcoming Need For Speed: Rivals thanks to developer EA Ghost.  Instead of switching between developers with every iteration of NFS, Ghost will handle development exclusively.
