Starbound’s Beta Has Launched

Planet hopping, Terraria like side scrolling explorer game Starbound has launched into beta and is now available on Steam. It’s so new all the information doesn’t even seem to be filled out yet on Steam such as requirements and the like. Now that’s early access! We had a short write up on the game yesterday and after the break you can check out the launch trailer. Hopefully soon, we’ll have impressions as well. Starbound Beta Available Tomorrow

What is Starbound? Imagine having randomly created worlds to explore that you can visit in your space ship in a Terraria like fashion of gameplay. Creatures and weapons are even procedurally generated to give the alien worlds a truly unexpected and explorable feeling. LEGO The Hobbit Officially Announced

Traveller’s Tales, creator of the fantastic LEGO games, has announced today a new LEGO game based off a popular book series that you may have heard of…LEGO The Hobbit. While some may see these as kids games, I’ll have to give TT credit because the last few games (LEGO Batman 2, LEGO Marvel, LEGO Lord of the Rings), have been exceptionally fun – yes, even for a “kids game”.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Gameplay Trailer

Branching out from the previous Plants Vs. Zombies games, Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be a third-person shooter that with up to four player co-operative multiplayer missions, titled “Garden Ops”. It will also feature 12 vs. 12 competitive multiplayer madness across 10 different maps titled: “Garden & Graveyards” and “Team Vanquish”. In “Gardens & Graveyards”, players will have to defend their bases from the zombie hordes, while in “Team Vanquish” each opposing team looks to eliminate the other – so basically your traditional team deathmatch. Warner Bros Interactive Announces Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor

Warner Bros Interactive has announced a brand new Lord of the Rings videogame with the reveal of Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Humble Bundle No Longer Offering Steam Keys

Low cost games are a great deal for the frugal and casual among us but it looks like one of the key sources of low cost PC games, the Humble Bundle, have changed their terms of service. Unit Lost! EA Cancels Command & Conquer, Closes Victory Games

Electronic Arts has debriefed the developers of the upcoming free to play Command & Conquer for the last time it seems. The upcoming multiplayer shooter has been shelved by the publisher and the game’s developer, Victory Games, has been shuttered according to multiple media reports. It’s sad to see such a promising entry in a long running series and an untold number of developers assigned to new projects or worse out of a job. Surprise! You Can Battle Aliens In COD: Ghost’s Extinction Mode

Rumor: Alien Isolation In Development At Creative Assembly

The long running Aliens franchise is set to return to our living rooms next year in the form of a brand new video game being developed by the studio behind Total War, Creative Assembly. Titled Alien: Isolation, this new first person shooter has  reportedly been in development for some time for both current gen (PS3 / Xbox 360) & next-gen (PC / PS4/ Xbox One) platforms  and will hopefully not end up in a similar PR nightmare that Aliens: Colonial Marines became during its launch this past spring.
