Roadhouse Interactive and A.C.R.O.N.Y.M have released several unit bios for their upcoming free to play browser based tactical strategy game MechWarrior Tactics. The game places two players against each other in turn based battles. To be successful commanders must place units tactfully and manage their resources carefully.

Metro Last Light’s Short Film Lets Us Watch The Bombs Drop

Posted on May 24, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Metro Last Light, the follow up to post apocalyptic first person shooter Metro 2033, might have been delayed until 2013 but that doesn’t mean the game shouldn’t come out swinging during the pre-e3 madness. In the latest live action short, released to promote the game, we follow average citizens of Moscow as the bombs begin to fall. As you would expect the world is full of panic as nuclear death quickly approaches!

Does this trailer have army dudes screaming at the citizens while brannishing an AK47? Yup, seems like an average day in Russia to me (kidding of course).

Check it out after the jump.Read More

SEGA Announces The Cave

Posted on May 24, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Adventure games have seen somewhat of a revival this year with Double Fine’s Kickstarter project raising a lot of money and positive press for the company. One adventure game just wasn’t enough for them as they announce a partnership with SEGA to publish Ron Gilbert’s The Cave sometime in early 2013.

In The Cave you will assemble a team of unlikely heroes to traverse a vast array of different landscapes. What other game can boast that you’ll be scaling the walls of a medieval castle one minute and trying to stop the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile the next?Read More

Command & Conquer Alliances Retreats From Beta, Open To All

Posted on May 24, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The next entry in the venerable Command & Conquer Franchise, the free to play Tiberium Alliance is now available for all to play. The game had a rather extensive closed beta which ran from December of last year all the way until this month!

Alliance puts you in the role of either a GDI or NOD commander during the Tiberium with the focus on building bases. You’ll have to place structures, manage incoming Tiberium crystals and power plants. The game certainly puts more emphasis on the base build and resource management that can sometimes fade into the background when playing a more traditional RTS.

EA released a debut trailer to mark the game coming out of beta. It is nice to see that they have treated Alliances with care, its visual style is very reminiscent of the modern C&C titles within the confines of traditional 2D Art.

Enlist now by checking out the game’s official website or watch the debut trailer.Read More

Fall of CyberTron DinoBots Trailer

Posted on May 24, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

High Moon Studio’s next Transformers game, Fall of Cybertron, brings the Dinobots into the fray. In this latest developer diary describe the origin of Dinobots is explained along with how they fit into the Transformers canon. Did you know that the Dinobots came about because some of the early transformers scanned prehistoric earth for new destructive forms?

According to the Dev Diary there have been many different origin stories for the Dinobots and this just happens to be the one that they decided upon. I think it would be pretty badass to rip around CyberTron tearing through the scenery asa giant robot would be pretty bad ass.

Fall of Cybertron will be released on PS3, Xbox and PC on August 28th 2012. Check out the brand new trailer after the jump!

Tony Hawk HD’s Soundtracks Transports Us Back To 2000

Posted on May 23, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Activision is set to take the Tony Hawk franchise back to its roots with this summer’s Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD. The game revisits a simpler time when racking up a high score and collecting letters actually meant something. Gameplay mechanics and level design aren’t the only thing lifted from the early 2000s, the game’s soundtrack will also transport you back an entire decade.

Back in ’99 – ’01 when the first two Tony Hawk games were released back on the Dreamcast and original PlayStation Nu-Metal and rock bands where still king. Tony Hawk HD pays homage to these musical styles with a collection of songs from the first two games combined with a few new artists.

The full track list was recently revealed in an interview with Sound and Vision magazine. Check it out below:Read More

Interest in the Aliens franchise has peaked in recent weeks with the release of Ridly Scott’s in-universe prequel Prometheus only a few short weeks. It looks like the next big project involving the franchise, Gearbox Studio’s Aliens Colonial Marines, won’t make its anticipated Fall 2012 release. Instead the marines will deploy against the Xenomorph horde on February 12, 2013.

Along with the announcement of the delay Gearbox Studios released a brand new trailer for the game alongside a statement from energetic and charismatic CEO Randy Pitchford.Read More

The Amazing Spider-Man Web Rush Trailer

Posted on May 22, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Beenox’s latest Spider-Man game, a film tie-in for Sony’s upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man, has a brand new trailer highlighting one of the new mechanics – the Web Rush. Web Rush allows you to slow down time and make split second decisions like dodging an oncoming enemy or using your webshooters to tie-up a foe. It can even be used to pull of aerobatic feats while web-slinging around the environments.

This mechanic really interests me, to my knowledge this is the first time a developer has tried to incorporate Spider-Man’s “Spidey Sense” into a game. For all of you non-nerds out there, Spidey Sense is essentially a form of pre-cognition that allows Spider-Man to avoid oncoming danger a fraction of a second before it occurs.

Slow motion certainly sounds like the right away to go about, when it comes to this particular super power. Decide for yourself by watching the new Amazing Spider-Man trailer in the embedded player.Read More

Wii U OS Details Leaked?

Posted on May 21, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Details surrounding the operating system Nintendo’s upcoming Wii-U have supposedly leaked online.  All of this information seems very tentative considering the fact that the poster mentioned that these details came from a “Version 4 development kit” that is supposedly a few months old.

This information is supposedly two months old and may change considering the fact that the Wii-U is not expected to be released until October or November. The Wii-U’s OS will be reportedly one of the largest in console history clocking in at 512MB. Apparently the operating system run by the Wii-U has “never been seen before on a home console”.  Despite these claims that the WIi-U’s OS will be revolutionary Nintendo is keeping the dashboard close to its chest, developers currently do not have access to it.

Hopefully Nintendo will shed some light on this new revolutionary dashboard at next month’s E3 conference.

WipeOut 2048 Vita | Review

Posted on May 21, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The launch of a brand new PlayStation platform and the WipeOut franchise almost go hand in hand. When the original PlayStation Portable launched in 2005 with the phenomenal WipeOut Pure followed by 2009s WipeOut Pulse. Even the PlayStation 3 got in on the action with 2008’s WipeOut HD. Does WipeOut’s formula of futuristic racing machines, hard hitting weapons and breakneck speed equal fun on Sony’s latest handheld?

WipeOut 2048 like its predecessors brings the entire package to Sony’s new handheld. Just because the game is being placed on a Vita Game Card doesn’t mean that SCE LiverPool had to compromise any of its artistic vision. Those of you looking for a faced paced racer are in for a treat with 2048, as the game offers several different game modes including offensive/defensive only events, time trials, four different classes of ships (D through A) and four distinct seaons (one per class).Read More

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare Scares Its Way To Steam

Posted on May 20, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Remedy Entertainment’s long awaited semi-sequel to 2009’s Alan Wake was released on the Xbox Live Arcade this past February. It looks like Alan’s nightmares are far from over as American Nightmare is set to wreak havoc on Windows PC tomorrow through Steam for $14.99.

The game features a single player campaign as well as the arcade like “Fight Til Dawn Mode” which tasks players with fighting hordes of enemies until the sun rises. The great thing about Fight Til Dawn is that it can be played co-operatively online with other players. You don’t have to face the darkness alone!

Remedy has published several previously unreleased pieces of concept art to mark the games transition to PC. Check them out after the jump.Read More

Ubisoft Titles On Sale All Weekend On Steam

Posted on May 19, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ubisoft’s vast PC library will be up for sale during various points this weekend thanks to Steam. Every day this weekend Ubisoft will be featuring a different franchise, with each game in that respective franchise a whopping 50 – 75% off. If you can deal with “always on” DRM, then this might be the time to jump into the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry or Rayman franchises. If the particular game you’re looking for isn’t heavily discounted Valve has slashed all Ubisoft published games by 33% for the weekend as well.

Today’s deal has you occupying the shoes of Demond as he relives the genetic memories of his ancestors. Here’s the rundown of all of the Assassin’s Creed savings:

Assassin’s Creed 1 – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed 2 – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed Revelations – $19.99

It’s too bad I missed yesterday’s deal on the Tom Clancy’s games. I am missing a few of the Ghost Recon games from my collection.
