If My Heart Had Wings | Review

Posted on August 27, 2013 by Les Major

Having only had experience with dating sim style games in the past and not really a full visual novel like If My Heart Had Wings was a treat I wasn’t expecting. Instead of a choose your own adventure style dating game, players are given more of an episodic anime like feel as they experience the story. Over the course of the many hours the game spans, there are very brief decisions to be made. Think of this more like an extended dialogue session in a Disgaea game or such. You’re watching still characters, with occasional changes to emphasize emotion, with Japanese voice over talents acting out spoken dialogue aside from the main character.Read More

Siege of Orgrimmar Coming Soon To WoW

Posted on August 27, 2013 by Les Major

As many of you know, I was a huge fan of the Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War novel by Christie Golden. Unsurprisingly the events in that book and seemingly the following title Vol’jin Shadows of the Horde (I haven’t read it yet but it does seem to fit the current WoW story) fit into actual World of Warcraft lore.

Odds are if you’re reading this, you’re already a big WoW fan anyway, but if you’ve been out of the game for awhile the info below may contain spoilers. Or if nothing else, a good glipse at the future of Azeroth.Read More

Nintendo Dates Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD for Oct 4th

Posted on August 27, 2013 by Jason Nason

Nintendo announced the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD in a press release this morning. The sly release wasn’t even about the game but moreso about The Legend of Zelda symphony series and added content for the concert in Seattle. That performance takes place on September 12th.

The date announced for the game’s HD re-release is October 4th.

The release stated: “To celebrate the launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for Wii U on Oct. 4, Nintendo is adding some extra magic to the Seattle stop of The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses concert tour. Microsoft Retires Microsoft Points Today

Posted on August 27, 2013 by Jason Nason

Today is the day. Microsoft has now officially switched from using Microsoft Points for purchasing downloadable games and content to real world currency. The switch will happen across all Xbox Live regions and will automatically convert any existing balance or newly-entered Points card into your local currency.

The Xbox Live Marketplace now lists all prices in local currency instead of points as well, and Microsoft reports on its official site that all Points converted to currency will be valid until June 1, 2015 (but “the currency you purchase and add to your account after the transition will not expire”).

Even after your account transitions, Microsoft will still accept purchased Microsoft Points Cards and codes until further notice. The company will add to your account an amount of local currency equal to or greater than the Marketplace value of those points. When you next redeem a Points card or code, those Points will be retired, and your account will begin using your local currency instead.

Skylander Figures Top Sales in 2013

Posted on August 25, 2013 by Jason Nason

Activision announced last week that Skylanders figures outsold all action-figure properties in the U.S. and Europe so far in 2013. The property outpaced all toy properties overall in the U.K. year-to-date as of June 30, 2013 according to a release from Activision.

The Skylanders franchise has generated more than $1.5 billion in worldwide retail sales since the release of the first Skylanders game and figures in 2011.

“We began something very special with Skylanders and the magic of bringing toys to life through a video game,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing. “But it’s not just about the game. We know the toys have to be just as creative and imaginative as the kids that play with them, and that’s why we’re so excited to bring even more innovations to this genre when Skylanders SWAP Force™ comes out in October.”

GTA V’s Brief Appearance on PSN Leads To Leak of Soundtrack

Posted on August 25, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

RockStar’s next open world crime game, Grand Theft Auto V, appeared on the European PlayStation network as in an unplayable pre-load state for those who have digitally purchased the title. This practice is not new, digital only services like Steam have been offering pre-load as an option for years, allowing gamers to jump right in when a title releases at midnight.

Gamer’s eagerly started sifting through the digital pre-load files and have dug up a few interesting things.  They’ve identified six different radio stations – Non-Stop Pop FM, SoundWax FM, Radio Los Santos, Punk Station, Classic Rock, West Coast Classics and a mishmash list of songs simply presented under the header ‘unknown’.  You can probably place a safe bet on the fact that this is not a definitive list of stations, absence of a talk station aside, as ‘Punk Station’ isn’t exactly witty enough to be included a GTA Game. We also have no clue what the songs under the ‘unknown’ label will fit in, if they are even present in the final build of GTA V.Read More

Owning a PS Vita is about to get more financially feasible with the announcement of a $50 price cut across the board. In addition to the price cut for the system, Sony also revealed that the system’s proprietary memory cards would also see their price tags slashed.

If you already own a Vita but want to stock up on some extra memory cards the adjusted pricing is as follows: $14.99 for a 4GB stick, $19.99 for 8GB, $39.99 for 16GB and $79.99 for a 32GB memory card.

One last cool thing of note – this price cut not only affects existing models, but also previous bundles. So, if you can find the limited edition white Assassin’s Creed Vita bundle, which came with Assassin’s Creed: Liberation + a 4GB memory card, you are in for some extra savings!

PlayStation 4 Reaches Retail On November 15th

Posted on August 20, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Get ready because the PlayStation 4 launches in less than 90 days! Sony revealed at their GamesCom 2013 press conference that their latest home console will launch in North America on November 15th in North America, while gamers in Europe will have to wait two weeks for their consoles on November 29th.

Sony’s suggested retail price is $399 USD/CDN or 399 Euros, but I suspect that that price will skyrocket once units hit Ebay. If you haven’t already pre-ordered your console then you might be out of luck, as EB Games/GameStop ceased taking pre-orders some time ago.

That means, if you are reading this from Canada or the United States, you need to save approximately $4.45 every day until the console is released, or you know just pay the whole thing off in one lump sum.

We’ll have more on the PlayStation 4 as the system’s launch approaches.
